Want to travel to Guatemala with us in 2024?? 👉my.trovatrip.com/public/l/survey/sarah-bomhof Welcome to the start of our new series: ONE MONTH IN Guatemala! We can't wait to explore this beautiful country with you. If you’ve been to Guatemala before, what would be YOUR 3 words to describe it??
@@temprmj1 no worries in with your wifi ! Antigua had many expats who live & work there so it’s set for you to be able to work remotely. We also have the most Spanish schools in all of Latin America . People come from all over to learn proper Spanish. We welcome everyone, but ask to not try to change our rich culture and ways because that’s what makes it beautiful 🇬🇹
OMG! Finally someone visits Guatemala and actually takes the time to read the history and understand the cultures and ethnicities and talk about it!! Thumbs up 👍
Hi, Guatemalan here! Welcome. Close to Antigua I recommend that you visit Altamira, Hobbitenango ("nango" comes from Nahuatl language and it means "Place of", so place of the Hobbits). Finca la Azotea or Finca Filadelfia if you like coffee, Acatenango volcano, Villa Bokéh, Cerro de la Cruz. Antigua is in Sacatepequez region (tepequez or tepetl means "Hill of" and Sacat means "Flowers", so Hill of flowers 😎). Then of course Atitlán lake, San Juan la laguna, Santiago Atitlan, Reserva natural atitlan. If you like adventure, go to Tikal and Flores island, castillo San Felipe, Rio Dulce. Even in Guatemala City, you can visit Paseo Cayalá or 4 Grados Norte in zona 4, it's more commercial but they're nice and safe areas, I don't recommend zone 1 (city center), unless you're a bit carefull hehe 😅. 👍👍
@@EricandSarah Hobbitenango in itself will be a lot of filming. It's aboslutely magical. A michelada with a view there is my favorite. You can even camp or stay in one of the hobbit rooms!
We returned last December from 10 wonderful days in Guatemala. I hope you make it to Lake Atitlan. We toured the town of San Juan there and found it very charming and educational. We would have loved to made it to all the little towns around the lake. We toured several places on our trip and I look forward to sharing what you visit also. Never stop traveling and learning!😊
I'm from Guatemala and love this initiative! Thank you for giving good press to our beautiful land! I really do hope your stay is amazing. Welcome back!
Was in Guatemala Feb 2020. We only went through an afternoon at Antigua. Most we were in Chichicastenango. You will get the sellers, shoe shine, etc following you there. But they are super people. Definitely recommend private shuttles for travel around Guatemala.

You guys are goals!! Literally I was born in Guatemala and was brought to the United States at age 8 and haven’t been back since (Im 24). You guys bring tears to my eyes of how you speak of my soil! Bless you guys and good look to your journeys!!
I just returned from my first trip to Guatemala and this video captures so many of things I loved about my time there.. amazing culture, delicious food, friendly people, etc. Great video 🙌🏽
Cronista ( the man who wrote everything he saw during the first years of Spain in Latin America) saw big reed boats sailing from the North Coast of Peru to Panama. Probably there was and cultural interaction between Los Moches ( Mochicas ) or Chimu ( after Moche ) and Central America / Mexico
AWESOME VIDEO!!! 🧡😜 Love that Sarah ate all that soup hahaha. Super excited to learn more about Central America with you two and we are so happy you spent the holidays at home. A question, we have never heard of the "gringo trail" and as people who want to go to Guatemala eventually it'd be great to learn what that is! Stay safe and keep the amazing content coming 🥰
HAHA Sarah could live off of soup alone. It never lasts long 😂 And the “gringo trail” is what we (and others) call the popular tourist route/locations. Places that are typically visited by gringos (foreigners). So for Guatemala this would be places like Antigua, Lake Atitlan, Semuc Champey, Tikal, etc. Essentially if you’re visiting anywhere that travellers typically go, it’s easy to find shuttles and accommodations. Hope that helps!
Your videos keep getting better and better! We love following along on your journey. Another great video 👏 We’ve never been to Guatemala but it’s definitely on our list. We can’t wait to see more of your adventures here!
Thank you so much! We put a lot of effort into improving them so glad it’s noticeable! You should definitely visit Guatemala when you have the chance :)
