    For those who don't know what Undertaker is alluding to, it was the night of WrestleMania 14. After what happened with Bret and the Screwjob, as well as people just being tired of HBK's attitude in general, some felt that Shawn would go into business for himself and not drop the WWF title to Stone Cold, or purposely have a bad match to not make Austin look good.
    Jim Cornette explains in detail in his Timeline: The History of WWE - 1997 shoot interview with Sean Oliver of Kayfabe Commentaries, that after his match with Kane was done, Undertaker simply went back to the Gorilla position, wrapped up his hands in tape, sat down in a chair and watched the main event match. And as soon as the match was over, and Austin went over as planned, Taker simply unwrapped his hands, then went to the locker room to change.
    It is widely believed that if Shawn did not put over Austin, or did anything to make Austin look bad or foolish, he would have faced some severe consequences in the back, specifically The Undertaker beating the ever loving piss-fuck out of him for not doing what was good for the business moving forward (dropping the title to Steve Austin).

      agree with RAZERDsXE, thanks for the description. And it makes so much sense to because if there is one thing concerning the business (outside the ring I mean) that Undertaker is known for it's being a company man and team player, so that whole situation is completely believeable.

      That's why Vince McMahon is so grateful for The Undertaker. WWF was in financial trouble, wrestlers were going to WCW, but Taker never left as Vince was the one who gave him the big chance in wrestling. He alone assured viewers and profit enough so WWF (WWE) got stable again. With Kane, Stone Cold, Triple H, JBL, they held the main storylines, more important matches and kept the company growing.

      You're gonna need to shut up before you give people brain tumors. "Shooter" is different in wrestling terminology and theatrical wrestling terminology. Shooter as in a "SHOOT WRESTLER" is a combat wrestler in athletic wrestling. "Shooter" as in a "behind the scene's ethical enforcer" in theatrical wrestling.
      IT'S TERMINOLOGY YOU BUFFOON. You think a Mark is actually a guy named Mark? Do you think taking a dive in boxing is actually a guy jumping out of the boxing ring?
      How about you educate yourself.

    Many people wondered why The Rock and Shawn Michaels never had a match together. Undertaker just said it. He can be a pain in the a** to work with. He tried to hold the Rock back and bury him. Also, Shawn disrespected the Rock’s grandmother when Rock was a teenager. That’s why Rock never wanted to work with Shawn.

    This is why I have a hard time understanding why anyone is still on Shawn's side during this time frame. The guy was nothing but trouble sabotaging the WWE at every turn causing problems for everyone. I will tell you this if it was Bret there instead of Shawn Bret would not have had a problem dropping to Austin, it definitely would have been a better match. It is a what if I like to roll in my head now and then. What would the attitude era have looked like if Bret stayed; the matches he could have had with Austin, Rock and maybe even Angle or Jericho later on if he was still healthy.

    • @RakanRabih
      @RakanRabih Місяць тому

      Than why did Bret have a problem dropping it to Shawn ? Why did he cry a year for a rematch .. “ WM12” than in 1997 he got what he deserved in SS. Its been nearly 30 years .. moveon. shawn is the goat .. u like it or not its a fact

    • @mryellow864
      @mryellow864 Місяць тому

      @@RakanRabih 1) Bret had no problems dropping the belt to him, he dropped it to him in WM12. 2) If you actually did your homework he was actually willing to drop to him again in Montreal but the reason why he decided not to was because after telling Shawn that he would be safe in the ring despite their issues Shawn was not going to reciprocate. Ultimate disrespect between professionals. 3) It was in Bret's contract that he had every right to refuse if he wanted to anyway. There are oodles of sources that back all of this dude. Shawn back in the late 90s was a selfish prick whom most people hated and thought he could sabotage yet another person's time in the spotlight (Austin) and would've if not for the real goat ready to kick his ass if he didn't this time around. Undertaker. The entire video you are commenting on confirms this. Love Shawn all you want, glad he got his head straight but everyone knows he was a twat back then including Shawn himself.

      Michaels was superb as a wrestler but he admits he's not the easiest of the men to be around. I am not sure of the chronology, but it seems the time HBK was said to cause a lot of problems in WWF coincides to when he was in a troubled love relationship and addiction issues.

    Its is weird to hear him break kfab about "doing the right thing". But if I was Shawn Michaels and saw this interview the day after, i'd be petrified... Not only did Taker say he was ready to kick his ass that night, Shawn made him break Kfab and publicly declare he's ready to do it anytime Shawn "doesn't do the right thing". Can't imagine any stronger of a warning.

There s a match I have an In Your House I can't remember what year and I have to dig it out of cob webs but there s match between Taker and Shawn and the match is brutal. Shawn limped away after and wasn't faking it.

      The issue Taker (and a bunch of other wrestlers for that matter) had with Shawn was that he wasn't going to put Austin over and give him the belt. Most people knew he planned on walking away from the business, but he apparently planned on doing that still as champion. It's well documented that HBK was arguably the biggest asshole in the company back then.
