When they were talking about it not just being The Rock in that sketch, all I could think of was him holding up the robot and going "CAN YOU SMELLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING?"
Now this is my kinda discussion. So let me put on my nerdhat and ramble a bit. First though: I'm sad how quickly they gave up and included modern monsters. I wouldn't do that. Especially with Freddy being portrayed as a child molester in the remake and legend saying it was part of the original script for the old movie but deleted. So welcome to my pitch meeting on how to pull of the Universal Avengers and even bring producers on board with making it inclusive in a good way! First of: My leader in the Tony Stark/Nick Fury role would be the invisible man. He's a scientist, he's smart and he's invisible. He can come up to the other monsters and have a quick chat without them able to kill him. Easy pick. Inclusion wise in the original series the character changed names and genders so we are not fixed on anything, I do think he was American. So I'd actually go with an asian american man. Like Steven Yeun. He has to bring some snark. Next up we have Dracula. Always the same kinda guy, nothing much to change. I would push him a bit more into the Dr. Strange role and make him more about magic, always budding head with the invisible man. Castingwise I really liked Luke Evans in the role, the Dracula Untold movie was just a bit daft. So maybe give him another shot. Third we have Frankenstein, who comes with the bonus character of the Doctor. I don't see the monster in the Hulk role, but more in the Thor role. Not that he's handsome or anything, but we could give him some lightning powers. The Doctor should be the classic Alfred "Guy in the chair". If all of this takes place in modern times, he's on the headset, if not, maybe he has some magic connection to Dracula.
Something fun we can do with the Monster is having it be assembled with male and female bodyparts. So there could be some natural and fun identity and gender issues there. Fourth we have the Wolfman. Another character who in the classic series changes names and characters quite a lot. Since I'm a huge fan of the Ginger Snaps series, I think the Wolfman is the prime candidate for a gender swap. The whole allegory about the wolf change being akin to getting a period is fun and we are also set up for a lot of "Being a bitch" jokes. Team wise, this would be my Hulk, because of how unpredictable it all is. Speaking of gender swap: I actually like the idea of the Tom Cruise Mummy movie of making the Mummy a lady. Magic powers, a revenge plot and sucking men dry? Sounds like a lady to me. Team Wise maybe closer to a Black Panther because of the specific cultural background. Another thing the Tom Cruise movie brought up, was another character: Dr. Jekyll. In the "Penny Dreadful" show he was an British Indian and I quite liked that. Rolewise I'd bring up the Winter Soldier. Maybe he used his serum to do some fucked up shit in the war and can't remember.
Speaking of "Penny Dreadful", Dorian Gray is another classic Horror villain. The problem is, his superpower is debauchery and screwing everything without getting an STD and simply being immortal. So that's kinda hard to include. Maybe he's just like Faceman in the A-Team and there to charm people. I don't think the Avengers had this, so we could go with a mimicking ability and make him a bit like Mystique from the Xmen. Then of course there's the Creature from the Black Lagoon. A mute animal like boy won't work, I think we make him like Abe from Hellboy, make him young and have him be our inexperienced Spider-Man like guy. And last but not least there is the Phantom of the Opera. Universal actually made a few movies about him I think. Problem is, he doesn't really have that many powers except stagecraft. So let's pull another Marvel and make him a magician/illusionist akin to Mysterio.
Anyways, that's my Universal Avengers. I think that's a fun team that can lead to some fun dynamics and have them bud some heads. And of course kill a bunch of dudes. So far I haven't though about the story of our team up movie at all, but hey, for a quick ramble after thinking about it while showering, I think I'm pretty far ahead. So thanks for coming to my TED-talk and I see myself out.
I thought Freddy was a child molester in the first movie. Wasn't that the reason all the moms killed him in the boiler room in the backstory? Or did they killed him for nebulously doing "something wrong," and that was just heavily implied?
@BunkPhD Love this! I'd also like to see a defenders/thunderbolts esc lineup of like Jason/Freddy/Ghostface/Chucky/Candyman etc. Think that could be cool 👀💛
Once again, the boys not being a brand risk.
@@cubaj8723 Not even once! 😂💛

Holy shit they made an snl skit funny. is there no limit to their genius?
Seriously, i checked, T&B definitely tell it better.
