The Hellenes were the inhabitans of mainland Greece in the ancient years, in Greek mythology Hellene was the founder of the Greeks and son of Deukalion and Pyrra the first humans. Hey bro, Why you call yourself Greece?
In China we call your country He-La or Xi-La
So can you tell me why your name is Greece in English ??? and what He-La means ?
@@TK-my7jg Hey, well we don't call our country "Greece" in greek it is actually Hellas (in modern greek Hellada) and the people are Hellenes and things are Hellenic. Thus, that's probably why you call it somewhat Hellas too because of how we call it. The Hellenes were the inhabitans of mainland Greece in the ancient years, in Greek mythology Hellene was the founder of the Greeks and son of Deukalion and Pyrra the first humans. The term "Greek" comes from Greek as well but we barely use it (mostly for mocking), howver it was adopted by the Romans and then to English, that's why we are called Greeks.
@@tyrantphotius_7948 Thank you bro, you has solved a long-standing doubt of mine~
There are many translations of Eurasian countries' names in Chinese language, which are completely different from English
Sometime we have to read ancient books to understand why and some time we should consult local ppl~
Thanks a lot~
