Todd, No one has done it better than you. You and Kristin are continually amazing. I love how real you both are. Your journey has incredible purpose and speaks to ones heart deeply. I'm so thankful that God has given you all these years to watch your children grow and for you and Kristin to share. Just watched this again and I know I've watched it before from my comment. below. It makes my heart wrestle with the thought of how I'd handle the same. I'm such a whinner that I doubt that God would put up with me for as many years. Love you guys. For one more day......... press on.
These are all such helpful tips. It was validating for me to be diagnosed after a couple years of strange physical symptoms began robbing me of mobility. Within the first months after being diagnosed, I went on some trips to beautiful places with friends who helped carry things for me, and I’m really glad I did that. I also got right on organizing my affairs, so there would be clarity for others. I continue to work on accepting help from others, the hardest part of which I think is feeling guilty for asking. I live alone, so I am making great use of technology. In this day and age, it is amazing how many household functions can be voice activated. I think the most important suggestion I would have is to immediately get registered with the ALS Association. I am astounded by how supportive my local chapter has been in helping me navigate this new reality.
You guys have it so right! I was a caregiver for many years to people in chairs when I was younger, and now need caregivers myself. It's so important to pace yourself and not get overwhelmed. Also great point about not waiting to get your affairs in order, nor taking the future for granted. None of use know what tomorrow may bring.... God Bless!
