When I was in the corps, I often looked at other branches and realized the the marines are just a lot more strict and intense about almost everything. I actually wished I went into a different branch until we went to Kuwait awaiting the Iraqi invasion. I was told to scribe for a general who went to a few fighting holes on the border to inquire about how to improve moral. The army fighting holes asked for better chow, shower facilities, laundry & latrines (bathrooms). The Marines questioned only asked for more ammo. Then I realized that we were just use to miserable conditions and we’re obsessed with achieving the mission. After we went in Iraq, I heard many army personnel bragging about requesting mass and complaining to higher ups about the conditions. I was embarrassed for them and felt great about my choice to be a marine. Just different cultures.
