He represents all citizens of Nato in a situation like this, and i really can't think of any person, who would be better fit for the job. A truly peaceful man of the people. He is only a representative for Nato though. He is saying things that needs to be said, and is also a way better man for the job, than many of the former leaders of Nato.

International security and global balance of power has been based on nuclear deterrents since WW2, or shortly thereafter. It never went away, everyone just ignored it. It is insane to let anyone have a threat so great they can never be allowed to lose, but it was not challenged, because others wanted the same guarantee.
That's plain blackmailing. I won't cry if my gas or my food goes up - I believe in freedom (in any country!) and fighting the enemies out of American soil.
