Envy is 💯 about them basically stealing tracks out the studio but it wasn't usually DAT tapes which were digital it was usually a copy of a cassette made from the DAT. CLUE was INFAMOUS in the studios I demoed in during the 90s but money didn't switch hands from time to time he'd jack the copy from an engineer. The first few Clue tapes the quality wasn't digital but when he got successful money improved the quality😂 those days are gone but it was the way music moved around

The true mix-tape era in NYC from like 92-98, really before CDs became the main format, tapes were still the go-to. It was a crazy flex if you had the new Clue or Doo-wop , S&S , Ron G; it was just a crazy time. I would like to see math just bring on a bunch a DJs from that era on the show. My favorite of that era was Doo-Wop because I was always looking forward to those Bounce Squad freestyles; that's what separated Wop from the rest of the DJs, he was spittin himself
