When all else fails, take a chance, bid one dollar and hope the other guy goes over. This has to be the biggest winning $1 bid in "Price is Right" history, and proof positive that such bids aren't a joke. :)
@809Ollie It doesn't work that way. If they were both bidding on the same showcase, yeah you would be right, but since they were bidding on separate showcases it wouldn't. Hell I've seen it where both people bid the exact same amount for each of their showcases (I believe it was $4,200, very ridiculous amount but still).
I've always wondered what would happen if there were a tie in the showcase and nobody overbid. Would they probably do another prize like the first round?
Edited this because I accidentally made the same comment twice. After hearing his ARP was $17,146, I wonder which previous showcase was the last to be below $20,000 (USD)?
@underdogaa ah ok....still it's an amazing experience to go on tpir...i always wanted to go on, but seeing that i live closer to ireland than studio 33 i haven't had the chance yet...
Drew is a horrible host. I like the guy, but he blows the ending by saying “Aw” right before giving the price of the showcase. Showmanship, Drew. Showmanship.
Whenever I see those infomercials on TV that say "call within the next 5 minutes..." I always think: "who falls for that shit? who honestly thinks that they have people timing five minute intervals between each commerical?" videos like this answer those small nagging questions for me
wow Drew seems pissed that he won? didn't see the show, but was the guy annoying or something? why would he not be like Wow! u won on a $1! Anyway the show seems way less exciting without Bob.
Drew carey may not be the best TPIR host, that reserves for Bob all the way, but hes ok, and wasnt for drew TPIR would retire and no one will win prizes anymore!
Bidding $1 on a showcase is always a good move if the other person has obscenely overbid. It's the same strategy as Contestant's Row.
Exactly!
I agree, but you never see it.
I mean it could work, otherwise you just handed your opponent their showcase.
You bid a dollar, I hope you don't go over LOL.
Anyways. "Hope you're not over."
"You're only off by 23 grand."
lol
haha his reaction when he found out he won was classic
Also further more, you should only Bid $1 if you are certain that the other player is over.
As far as I remember, $1 is most likely the most popular Bid on the Show.
Mark Heying, only occurred when Bob Barker hosted the show many years ago, and it did more often.
@@davidtosh7200 Also further more, you should Bid $1 only if you think the other players are over.
@@markheying2830 true.
The funniest part is he didn't even now he won. I'm happy for him
That trick always works.
LOL! He's all confused "Me?!! MEE?!? I WON?!?!"
That $1 bid paid off!
No. Contestants bid $1 when they absolutely know that the other contestant overbids in their showcase.
As well is in Contestant’s Row & it doesn’t matter how far off you are from the Price as long as everyone else is over.
One dollar bid, "i hope you're not over" Wow good job Drew, people in the audience actually laughed...
That is total ownage! At the end you can see Drew explaining to the other guy why he lost LOL.
During one of the prime time showcases, a guy bid a $1 and the price was over $100k. And he won too.
How much would you have have guessed on that Showcase?
@@markheying2830 if the other person was clearly over, $1
Actually, that ARP was over $120K. $121,704 to be exact.

@crazyhypergurl he looked like he just stumbled from under the freeway ahaha!
Best strategy when you think your opponent is an idiot!
That’s a new record for the lowest bid on the price is right
Drew really needs to be cheerful regardless of whether someone deserves to win or not. Either that, or express mock frustration like Bob used to do.
Every contestant should bid on their showcase $1 often to decrease these disheartening pair of "overs".
That was Bob's 80th Birthday MDS, the contestant took a big risk thinking his opponent was over, and was, albeit by not that much.
@809Ollie It's not exactly a game persay. It's more looked at as the "bonus round" of any typical game show.
The idea is that you have to be closest to the retail price of your showcase WITHOUT GOING OVER!
Also further more, you should only Bid $1 if you think the other player is over.
imagine if he was the first one to bid and he bid $1
Legend

What a stud.
The actual price of Jose's showcase was $20,865 so he was over by $39,135!
I love how Jose pops up in comment sections he's not even in and yet we all know who you're talking about lol
It was $20685
I've always wondered what would happen if there were a tie in the showcase and nobody overbid. Would they probably do another prize like the first round?
Although never happened, if the event there is a tie in the showcase, then both win the individual showcases.
@furydeath - Uh...he was. What's a few dollars' difference between those figures? Both sides read $23K for a moment.
One contestant bid $1 on Drew's first taped show
Curious side note: if HE'D bid $23,950 instead, he been OVER by $47. Also making THAT $1 bid even smarter.
I guess that he averted another Double Overbid.
Edited this because I accidentally made the same comment twice.

February 25th, 2014.
Reminds me of the Jose and Gay episode where Jose bid $60,000 on a showcase without a car---and Gay as a result bid $1. Guess who won?
Jose didn't get it
retail price $0...your over...lol
Yeah. if any1 overbids, I'd laugh & do the exact same thing!
best was that the other guy laughed at the $1 bid only to learn he had bombed on his bid...
No, it was $17146, he was over by $6804!
You bid $1 hope you're not over... If his showcase was only 99¢ or below lol
What was the air date of this show
March 17th 2008
What episode is this "The Price is Right" clip was?
The guy looks like he never bought anything more than $1 before in his life.....
I'm just trying to stop a fight.
Exactly, lucernrox!
$23,903
Me? I won? I didn't even have to steal the shit?
So what did Drew tell ya..cuz i saw in the last final seconds..when the guy was hugging his wife..Drew was talkin to you..what did he say?
That is called getting owned.
Today's (2/21/2014) episode was more proof of that!
That was probably the woman, Gay was her name, literally because the runner-up Jose bid $60,000 and was over by some $40,000
you know what would be funny? Someone bids $1 and still wins but the other person doesn't go over
@crazyhypergurl Actually, the price was one dollar.
Smart bid.
I remember a woman did the exact same thing during the bob barker era and won.
When bob says as long as you don't go over, the $1 bidder said 'way over'. Bob said no need To be mean
@StarFighters76 oh i didnt realize we dont have this game in england
@underdogaa ah ok....still it's an amazing experience to go on tpir...i always wanted to go on, but seeing that i live closer to ireland than studio 33 i haven't had the chance yet...
LMFAOOOOOO OMG LMFAO
Me?! Me?! I won?! (I bid $1 as a joke...)
@crazyhypergurl Well the price is right
same
Was this the first time someone bid $1.00 on the Showcase?
Oh no!
Would have been better if he was off by the same amount the other guy had bid.
lucky guy
hope ur not over lol
holy... what a very lucky day XD
Drew is a horrible host. I like the guy, but he blows the ending by saying “Aw” right before giving the price of the showcase. Showmanship, Drew. Showmanship.

the other guy should of bid $2 he would of won then
Lmaaao. Troll. XD
Drew carey may not be the best TPIR host, that reserves for Bob all the way, but hes ok, and wasnt for drew TPIR would retire and no one will win prizes anymore!
ajajaja
Aww shit .. Niggah was surprised he won !!! I think this show be fixed ya'll .. lol
Huh? What does not paying taxes have to do with anything? That like a new racist stereotype that you just came up with?
