People are disagreeing with him but let me put it like this; of course working a 9-5 is a respectable and honourable option for any man to take in order to support his family, however it is definitely a scam in the sense that it allows you absolutely no freedom or control over your own time, yes you may at times work even longer than 9-5 if you have your own business, but there will be many times where you can have a 2/3 hour workday and get everything you need done, especially as your business grows, and even when the hours are long, it still gives you that extra element of freedom.
Hahaha, if you think with a 9-5 you get less time, imagine when you start your own business. You will get even less
9-5 is a scam? What a load of rubbish and falsehood. If a man works 9-5 to provide for his family there is nothing wrong with that at all... and if he does it with the correct intention it will be considered an act of worship. Stop trying to put people down with this stupid terminology. 9-5 is providing for your family. Fear Allah.
Exactly... lol, it's like if you don't work 9-5 you are gonna have all the free time, when in reality
1. not everyone has an opportunity to start his own business
2. starting your own business usually means you'll be working at least 12 hours a day, maybe even more, unless your business really pops off, which is very very rare, and can't be used as an example
3. when you work 9-5 you can have a routine in your life, like you said even that work can be an act of worship, and it can be a sadaqah for your family.. and you can have a routine, you can schedule time for Quran, for seeking knowledge, for family, weekends for example you can go out in nature with your family etc... but when you have your business, you usually can't really have a routine etc. because your time is so relative, someone can call you at 2AM and say come, we have a problem you need to fix etc.
Now, this is not to say having a business is bad etc. of course it can be a better choice for a certain individual, but this idea how 9-5 is dumb, and how everyone should be his own boss etc. is unrealistic and frankly not very honest, and for most people, because of the time we live in, 9-5 is a default and that is completely fine, and obviously it's not ideal to work 8 hours as a muslim, but when you have family to feed and there are not reliable alternatives, then that is obligatory upon you to work and provide for your family... and Allah does not burden a soul more than it can bear, so work, and organize your remaining time for Salah, Quran, seeking knowledge, family, and other things that you have... and if there is an opportunity for you to work less, earn more etc. then alhamdulillah, but that is just not the case for most people
