Just want to say I enjoy your videos. I have MS too. I’m not able to be as active as I’d like to be so I spend my time decluttering. It’s something I can do at my own pace. I give my unwanted things away on the local Buy Nothing Facebook group so recipients just come to my front porch to get stuff. Minimizing my closet has been the most rewarding of all the decluttering jobs so far. Strangely, my other favorite activity is watching the Crazy Lamp Lady go thrift store shopping. Watching others shop fulfills my urge to get out there and shop and doesn’t create any clutter.

I realized I enjoy shopping because of the people I connect with while shopping. I enjoy the experience. Especially the higher end stores. You get a one on one experience. I enjoy meeting new and different people. The problem was I then felt good and bought something in the moment when I really didn’t need it. Once I figured this out, I have stayed away from these type of boutiques.

Instead of no gifts, I like perishable gifts like baked goods, chocolate, a plant, flowers, fancy vinegar or olive oil. I have hoarder relatives and I only give them baked goods bc they don’t need anything else to hoard.

Or you could buy them one of the minimalist /decluttering books to inspire them to have a clear out! "Lightly " by Francine Jay is a favourite. Hoarding can be symptomatic of deeper emotional issues so I would also advise checking in with these relatives more often. I had an Aunt who never threw anything away but sadly only discovered this when she died. It saddens me greatly to know she was drowning in so much junk in her last months when she could have been enjoying tidy, comfortable surroundings. She died relatively young and the clues were there- always ensuring friends/relatives didn't visit her at home- but she had been evasive most of her life so this didn't trigger the warning bells that it should have done 🤔

You always make sense and your ideas are very doable. Thanks for not going off the deep end on minimalism as some do. You are looking well and hope that indicates that your health is good. Best wishes in 2023.

During Covid I gave up drinking and dining and subbed with shopping cause it makes more sense if you get to keep the stuff… anyway I want to vomit thinking about all this junk I now have to deal with. Less is more and I’m so happy Covid is over

Happy new year Elin! I also think that stream lining what’s coming in is important and not many people talk about this. I’ve been more serious about my minimalism journey since 1.5 years and I always question myself about purchases. It is so tiring though I was talking about that with my boyfriend yesterday. Before I used to go to thrift store all the time. Now maybe once a month or two. I dont go shopping in malls that much because I live in a remote place and the stores here are not so great. So I go maybe 3-4 times a year. It helps but then again when I go I want to take advantage of it! It’s a lifelong battle for me. Thank you Elin!

Thank you! I just use Canva! (And if I want the background to be clear, I’ll use a bright green background and a keyer/keying effect in my editing software. If you google that you can figure that out!)

Could i ask for a more in depth on how to be an accountability partner for someone? What questions do we askof someone else, what would be no-nos? I havent seen many videos on how to help someone that trusts you with being their accountability partner o:

What’s your opinion on the Amazon trend on TikTok with people having storefronts and influencing people to overconsume on Amazon

Imposter syndrome is a shopping trigger for me. If I buy the adult things, maybe people will acknowledge that I am an adult… I’m almost 40 and still feel this way!

Stuff doesn't "come into" your home by itself. You or a family member bought it, or received it as a gift.
