Considering that its 2 petabytes of data a one time purchase seems very short term considering that no one has that in their computer. It will have to run from a server somewhere. So subscription makes more sense to me

Daniel Creed you don’t need two petabytes on ur device, that is how much the entire game would be if not using advanced tech that I’m not smart enough to tell you about, watch vids on msf yt and they probably can explain it
If they follow the Office model, it'll be a subscription service with no perpetual license option. Given the work apparently going into this, it's hard to imagine the subscription not being significant. Of course this is hypothetical, but maybe they could offer various subscription tiers, with variations like higher quality imagery (more data download), more planes, more earth coverage, etc on the higher tiers.
I would guess stand alone price of $75 with their standard load of 6-10 aircraft. There will be the usual payware aircraft and freeware. It’s the model they’ve run with throughout FS history. Scenery will be some sort of sectional download for a price or subscription without permanent download allowed for $10 a month or $100 a year.
It could be similar to the DCS world model: probably closer to 80-100 for the world with a couple of free planes. If they go that route then I would hope they release a handful of purchasable planes at launch. This would make sense in terms of community mods as well, Custom planes and what not.
My guess is 1 time purchase but with dlc and some sort of season pass and it will come with a standard edition and deluxe edition or something like that

@@YoungPilotOfficial Don't worry. There's enough young suckers on here that don't know any better and will blindly let themselves get hacked in their bank accounts. (Not necessarily by MS but hackers can use that and do screwy stuff). Prepaid gift cards are the way to go for this actually.

Since its for xbox i dont believe the core sim with be any more than ($60-$100) - i would be scared if they dont charge a monthly fee. How can you host petabytes of data for tons of people forever for free. Eventually someone with a calculator will do the math and they will either 1) hopefully start charging.. but worse 2) forced to close it (to keep up with some asinine promise not to charge a subscription) . And if you say.. no no.. its not free.. what about the $60.. well i payed $60 for xplane 11 and since my original download I have only done upgrades which are incremental upgrades (meaning they update only the files they have to which are mostly just the small executables) .. And im sure microsoft will have updates from time to time anyways so thats a bit of a wash.
so.. for the same price as xplane, microsoft will keep pumping tons of data my way and pay for the servers/data from the original $60? that doesn't sound right at all.
And btw.. im happy to pay whatever price. (either free to dl and subscription or up front cost plus subscription) This sim, in early alpha, looks better than any p3d / xplane setup with tons of add-ons ive seen. Cant wait.

@@YoungPilotOfficial BUT. Other companies with running servers pay their server costs e.g. via cosmetic shops. So optional, paid liveries, cockpit customizations or similar would be a good option here.
The game studio do not want subscription but its Microsoft's decision not theirs

Graham Potter that’s not exactly true unless your paying for just one game. I play lots of games in gamepass so for me I just break the cost up for the number of games I play. If I was just going to play I few then it’s better to buy, if it’s a game I want to own I will buy it and then I don’t need gamepass anymore so I can cancel. It’s one of the most pro-consumer services from any company. It’s proof that if you make what the people like. It will make you money as well. Lots of companies could learn from them and see that good services that are cheap will make more money than bad expensive services.

Same here it looks absolutely stunning and I wouldn’t mind giving a pretty penny for it but a subscription would definitely ruin it.
It should be around $15 (or Euro) a month, since that is the price of a XBox Game Pass, that said you will get access to the entire Game Pass catalogue for that as well. If you do some more gaming than just FS2020 that's a pretty good deal.
Microsoft basically give you the ability to virtually fly aircraft around the entire planet with all of that fidelity, supported by petabytes of data, yet you're reluctant to pay a sub or even more than $100?! People these days are spoiled brats and expect almost everything for almost nothing.
Graham Potter there’s a lot of speculation that it will be included in the game pass but nonetheless if it were to be around $100 it would be a fair price. I honestly wouldn’t mind paying that much.

Well, I hope it will be under 100$.
Subcription would be acceptable for 10$/month, but I think real deal would be one time payment and optional subscription. Those who pay for sub, can get better scenery, for example nonsubs, scenery could be from Bing maps, but less details than with subscription. After all, I would be most satisfied with one time pay, but running servers cost a lot of money and I don't think they will have that much new buyers every month. They will in 1st month or two, but sales will drop.
B before asking how much it will cost, you should ask, how much will I’ll have to spend in an non existing PC config to actually run the thing full maxed!
As gaming is going nowadays, it will a base game around 70$ but then you gonna have to pay apart every plane airport and skin... Hopefully not
It can't be a standalone purchase. Streaming scenery costs money. And that money does not come from a 1 time purchase. And although Microsoft has money, it's a business, and will not want to lose money on this. It's already been all but confirmed that it will use a Gamepass subscription.
If I’m spending $100+ i need a physical copy (Disk) not a digital one. Max I’d spend is $200 but i doubt it would be that high.
I think it will be expensiver than the other Sim's because of the 2Petabytes and all the Features I think around 100$!

I think there would be subscription for higher details (let's say for realistic scenery). Afaik, there's a base scenery and there is an option for the realistic scenery from bing maps which is actually streaming. Imagine the data being streamed, would they allow it for free? I hardly believe that
It won't be expensive either cos there also trying to appeal to new flyers and they won't want to price them out. Although they said it's not subscription based I'm really skeptical about that cos I can't imagine there going to allow us to stream forever for free with a one time purchase only I don't see it. I'd be happy to pay say £5 or $5 a month is ok for me anything more I will leave it
I have been using flight simulator since the early days of Microsoft Flight Sim 3.1 I now have FSX prepare 3D X-Plane 11 X-Plane 10 and explain 9 and I'm telling you right now! If they make this simulator app a subscription per month, I am out! Make it a one time fee and then charge extra if they want for payware aircraft and maybe some scenery but if they make this simulator a monthly subscription a lot of people especially older folks like myself on not going to pay the extra money per month that is just a travesty and that is my opinion

I am the same as you with I have been using Flight sim and I also go right back to 3.1 and I use FSX steam P3dV4.5 and Xplane 11.4 I have been saying the same thing what you have said I have been all over this on UA-cam videos about Microsoft flight sim 2020 you have hit the nail on the head it will be subscription don't forget this is Microsoft and they will want takes for every penny they can. So all who say shut up and take my money well good luck a fool and his money are soon parted. Not me Microsoft can go and F@*k them self's there not getting my money for any subscriptions
They have already told everyone its the FSX base so if you have FSX no need to buy anything so subscription is the only way to make money and any 3rd party devs are already in place because is FSX base so all existing addons should still work

This 2020 thing is great , however , my net connection can't handle what is there . The more I check into this the less I like it . I got flight sim X gold edition . had it for years and still haven't used all it has . The 2020 thing seems to be all about the bucks , sure it's better but where I am it's worthless and I simply can't afford it . I will keep my X .
Well it like msfsx and full of bugs when it comes out or will it be a finial real ease version. Xp11 and dcs have went with the prerelease formats get it out there I prove it as we go get them to help test it weekly.
perhaps with a lot less bugs shit on like xplane, where there is AI that is good for anything, Clouds that look like a 5 year old drew on the sim. ATC that makes no sence of anything, etc etc
Whatever the final pricing I'm sure they took a good look at what happened with Adobe and their creative suite shift to a very heavy subscription. I could see pricing could shift the more casual simmers to other products and leave Microsoft with a smaller (albeit more dedicated / hardcore) community.
Its 48750 bucks for the hard drives to download the full game and over 10mbs it will take 47 years to download

Yeah, I've been wanting to know that too, but for now I believe FSX2020 is still far from done so I can understand that they don't want to give the public the official release date😉

$25 dollars per month subscription ($300 dollars per year) would be a ridiculously high price. I am sure it will be a subscription, why, because that is where the money is. Let's face it. This is about money. But. if Microsoft tries for a 300.00 a year subscription service, I hope the community revolts and not buys the product.

It will be a subscription on $9.99 and no premium packs and the subscription is Xbox game pass and you will get like a few hundred games both for Xbox one and pc. and there will be payware and freeware add-on aircraft and general addons

I think the pricing is going to be something like the following:
One time purchase: $79.99ish
Free: the basic flying core, including the scenery from their servers. Access to the entire world. Initial launch aircraft. Initial scenarios. Mod support.
Subscription: free content plus online play, real world ai traffic, real world weather, access to new aircraft, new scenarios.
premium subscription would be cool if it gave you access to emergency situations to see how you would handle it and how you would react
3rd party developers will have alot of this such as engine fires and sound effects. The 3rd party addons usually have much better abnormal procedures. For other situations you can do yourself. For example keep your gear up and try to land, kill your engine in flight, turn off avionics and use standby instruments only, for twin prop kill a mixture lever. Practice deep stalls and recovering from them..there is quite a bit you can do.

They have already said that in the one of the interviews. It's either $60 OR Subscription. Not both. Also your title is wrong. It's FS Not FSX. :)

May sound weird but I hope it's not too cheap to buy - I want it to be amazing and have more planes out of the box including all in the trailer plus a few fighter jets, old warbirds, some vintage airliners etc. A good generous mix of planes and hopefully helicopters too. Also VR. Don't want it to be expensive per month but understand there may be some charge due to how it works with the scenery, and if it's free they may cut it off. I just hope any ongoing server fee is low, maybe an annual fee of no more than $20 but a purchase price of $200, although I can see that putting people off it would be my preferred payment model rather than some $20 a month subscription.

Personally, $200 is way too expensive. I'm thinking more along the lines of 3 different versions, something like what they had with FSX. I'm thinking a "basic" version for around $70.00, a "mid grade" version for around $100.00 and an "ultimate" version (which includes absolutely everything) for around $150.00. And NO, I'm not on board with *ANY* subscription fee of any kind. That will be a deal killer!

i have been a fsx and microsoft simmer for years i got x plane 11 very resent what do you think about it i wasnt impress myself
X-plane 11 has a steep learning curve, but once you're used too it it can be pretty fun!

The way that the highest detail scenery Is stored and streamed to the user means you will have to have access to MS servers even if you are caching to play offline . Even if the developers are right about the game being an outright purchase it seems totally reasonable that the access to the servers for this streamed scenery and live data such as weather is a service that will have to paid for by a subscription. Imagine MS maintaining all that infrastructure without a revenue stream to finance it! My guess is that the game on XBOX with 'good' scenery and a 'good' number of aircraft will be priced no higher than other AAA titles because otherwise the more casual buyer will not accept it. On top of that there will be a subscription for access to premium content - primarily the highest level scenery that will streamed on demand. As a variation maybe scenery caching will be free but the streaming will be by subscription. I can imagine that repeated caching will get old very quickly!

You buy it play with it for a few months then the novelty wears off it sits there for a few months then you play with again. I'm not paying a subscription just a one time cost. $75 seems fair.
When it says "captured in real time" does that mean that I have to be sat on my game chair for 4 hours to get from Liverpool to Fuerteventura? Great.....

we are only guessing the price. we should wait and see what a price Microsoft will put as a theirs initial price. most of products start in high prices. Microsoft invented a lot in this simulator. I thing the price will not be cheap. I will guess its above $200.
You will need a very fast CPU with single core speed. It is less well optimised than FSX was. Barely uses 2 cores. GPU is irrelevant unless you run at 4K.
I JUST bought a $1500 pc, how will it run the game? At 240fps? At 60fps?

I think many are missing the best point of this new program. I suspect there will be an initial cost of $60-$75 and then a monthly subscription charge of $9.95 or so. I will be glad to pay the monthly charge for a sim of this obvious superior quality with any updates and improvements included. The BEST part with the monthly subscription is that will guarantee Microsoft will continue with this Flight Sim (FS2020) well into the future, as it will become a "cash cow" for Microsoft! A few years ago, the Wall Street Journal claimed that Microsoft had earned $759,000,000 (gross) for MS-FSX, but it was all on a one time sale. If they sell an equal amount of FS2020 subscriptions as they did of FSX copies, that calculates to $110,000,000 to $130,000,000 a month in subscription income, each and every month!

If it's with subscription most of us WILL DEFINITELY STICK TO WHAT WE'VE GOT. Subscription will be tooooooo expensive I for one prefer to pay an extra twenty dollars on the purchase then to subscribe, why as everyone know it will cost you hundreds of dollars!!!
