- Hey guys in this video I speak with Dave Tate from EliteFTS about how to program for strength vs hypertrophy. I'm going into a strength phase and have been doing a lot of hypertrophy training so I wanted to see what should change as I turn my main focus into getting stronger. Dave talks a lot of intention of training and also exercise selection for strength training and hypertrophy training. I was really interested to hear his take on the differences and similarities between strength and hypertrophy training.

This is a pretty neat take cause often you get this mindset from strength athletes that if the work isn't heavy it isn't doing anything, but on the otherhand the idea from hypertrophy types is that theres not really a place for "muscle fucking". taking a hybrid approach based on your needs and goals is something more people should probably be aware of.

In my program we have movements for strength, power, and hypertrophy year round #conjugate. But let’s say I have tempo squats both outside and inside of 12 weeks - once I’m inside of 12 weeks I’ll slowly start prioritizing adding weight over other stuff.
