I use mine to brush my teeth. I set it to 2 minutes and I spend 30 seconds on each quadrant. Seriously, I own this watch and I love it and my oral hygiene has never been better.
If I owned a yacht, I would absolutely own this watch and use it to time the time before I'm allowed to start in the regattas I'm sure I'd be racing in.
I have to say this watch is pretty cool. Even though it’s totally useless and as a sailor and I can’t ever imagine using it in a race there’s something unique about it. I raced in the Rolex big boat series earlier this year and all the tacticians use iPads and digital watches to keep time but this is a fun nod to the old times.
I agree with your analysis of this watch. Although the features may be useless to most, the design is aesthetically pleasing since it is quite different from other Rolexes. To some, including myself, owning a Rolex is more about a lifestyle and sense of accomplishment than actual functionality.
If you press the ‘Fly back’ pusher when the Chronograph Second Hand is at 00:50, will it jump forwards to the nearest 00:00 position. In yacht racing you often want to ‘sync’ your timer to the nearest running-minute. You need to do this if you you slightly late catching the 10-minute gun; so you need to ‘sync’ at the 5-minute gun.
I love how, in a world where everyone has a phone in their pocket with the time on it, we're criticizing a mechanical watch which none of us really need. We don't buy mechanical watches because they are more practical than a digital watch or our phone. We buy them for the art of it. And Rolex understands that.
I like The YM 2 as it is unique compare to other complications. I use the Regatta as a timer, so it keeps me tracking a max of 7 mins to check my Whatsapp, FB and other not so important stuff
I like the watch. It something different. People would always complain that Rolex all look the same that their design never changes. Well now they have this!
I have a collection of Rolex watches, Daytona, Sky dweller, Sea Dweller and this one. To be honest I like them all although I am not a pilot or a diver or a cars racer and I don't own a yacht but I still love them all. At least these watches have a specific function and unique use compared to the stupid date just.
I’ve owned this for over 5 months and still don’t know how to set the regatta I don’t really care I’m not timing anything I just love the watch I get more compliments on this than any of my GMTs or Subs
Not a fan, but the 40mm and the new 42mm with matt black bezel , as well as the stainless steel 40mm with platinum bezel, love them. Also great alternative to GMT models and you can avoid the ridiculous waiting list.
Christian, arguably the best looking watch Rolex has ever made. It is always the first choice in my collection. Really, how many yacht racers are there out there??? Who cares, it is a great watch. Useless?? It tells time doesn't it. Time to change the beat up yellow oxford by the way. M
For bigger guys who have always found Rolex to be too dainty and small, this is the perfect one. Masculine, finally big enough for larger wrists and classy.
Christian, great video. However, you did miss one thing. While the timer is running, you have the ability to fast forward or rewind the timer. If the chronograph hand is before thirty seconds, it will take you back to the start of that minute. If the chronograph hand has passed thirty seconds, it will advance the watch the the next minute. Very interesting function with little to no functionality.
there is nothing ugly about YM2. One of a kind look for those who like Rolex sport line and choose NOT to follow the herd running after pepsi, batman, etc. As for usefulness, who the f uses the chrono feature regularly anyways, so regatta or regular chrono, who cares. Its still the most complicated Rolex. Love it.
An interesting fact about this movement is that it has a fly-forward function, as well as flyback. If you look closely, you can see this in the video. Nice looking watch but a little too big at 44 mm imo.
I disagree I love the yacthmaster2 grabbed a few years back for a good price on the grey market and skydweller just picked up the stainless version the white gold version was a little steep. I know some people are Rolex purists but I happen like the some of the evolution.
I respect your opinion i just dont agree with you in the slightest! I could say the same thing about so many Richard Mille models! In my opinion, this is a very cool timepiece with a very unique and complicated movement The yellow gold version might be a bit too much but the stainless steel ones are very nice indeed!
It is obvious this is a special niche watch. The looks do not appeal to most and its function would not be used by many. I think one major issue I have with this watch is not what it represents, but what it shows Rolex is not willing to represent or make (which becomes a slap in the face). Rolex has a very pure lineup of watches which is fine and holds true to their major image. Their top complication being a perpetual calendar (correct me if wrong) in the Skydweller which just seems fitting because you have the mild climb from date complication, day date, then full calendar (with a basic chrono thrown in for good measure, Daytona). But this watch lets you know they could do more and wont! I always felt the Cellini line should have been that for Rolex. Drop the all precious metals (so the price could fall into the $7-15k on the steel versions) and introduce clear casebacks and nice complications. Keep the main core line pure and leave it at that.
No more ridiculous than the name “Daytona”. I would bet most Daytona owners don’t use or know how to use their bezel markers. Luxury is about getting more than you need. Your not a Rolex fan so this was a easy review to talk smack.
And how many times have we timed something memorable enough to stick *above* 10 mins? You didn't mention the GMT functionality 0-10+1 (12) settings to track any offset... Mechanical memory... Flyback, fly forward and (no offense) your choice to cover the blue-bezel in any color is indeed ostentatious. Try this in white gold and enjoy the shit out of an understated and useful piece.
I was looking through some of your old videos and saw this one, and i got say i couldn't agree with you more. Your statemen " the brand that could literally serve up crap and the world would swallow" was fantastic. The funny thing is that the comment section basically proves your point to be true when most people try to defend it. If you could go and buy the YM2 and the Daytona at retail prices, I'm sure that most people would get the Daytona because of its smaller size, the ability to time something greater than 10 min, and the lower price. I feel that most people would get this watch on the basis that since they can't get a Daytona either from AD or grey market than the closes thing would be the YM2.
I use mine to brush my teeth. I set it to 2 minutes and I spend 30 seconds on each quadrant. Seriously, I own this watch and I love it and my oral hygiene has never been better.
Dying!!!!!
I was thinking of similar concepts…plenty to want to time for 10 minutes of less and actually quite easy to read. 👍🏻
Great explanation.
Many thanks for taking the time to explain.
Personally I do prefer digital chronographs.
However Rolex is Rolex.
bruh just buy an electric toothbrush and it'll time it for you
This is a beautiful watch in my personal opinion.
Yes, I certainly agree .In my opinion,it's a rather gorgeous watch.
I use mine, to remind me I don’t have a Yacht.
Hahahahaaa!!!!
As a sailor I really appreciate the complication and think it is something I would use...but not at that price. Excellent review and demo :)
The best looking Rolex in my Opinion,
If I owned a yacht, I would absolutely own this watch and use it to time the time before I'm allowed to start in the regattas I'm sure I'd be racing in.
Obviously he likes it, it’s in his shop and he’s trying to sell it lol
or more likely he got a great price on it
I just bought one yesterday .... I love it
I Friggin love this watch good on you man
I have to say this watch is pretty cool. Even though it’s totally useless and as a sailor and I can’t ever imagine using it in a race there’s something unique about it. I raced in the Rolex big boat series earlier this year and all the tacticians use iPads and digital watches to keep time but this is a fun nod to the old times.
Cant believe you called this ugly 🙈
I can appreciate it. It's funky and quirky. Less mainstream than a Sub or GMT, and although not for me, it's oddly iconic.
I like it a lot, but I was class captain and did a lot of sailing regattas and used my submariner to measure the 10 minutes
I agree with your analysis of this watch. Although the features may be useless to most, the design is aesthetically pleasing since it is quite different from other Rolexes. To some, including myself, owning a Rolex is more about a lifestyle and sense of accomplishment than actual functionality.

That's actually a genius way to use the thing!!
I like the watch. It something different. People would always complain that Rolex all look the same that their design never changes. Well now they have this!
It also is used for tacking in a regatta...
I use mine for an effective gybe!
Thanks so much Ethan!! I didn't know that!
You could sell them and buy a yacht :)
How can the watched be classed as useless if it can be used to time anything up to 10 minutes
I think it is very useful, to be honest.
You could argue it's LESS useless than a chrono.
Still hideous, mind.
I dont know man but I love it for me it looks insane
Stunner anyway you look at it.! Absolutely the KING of Rolex Professional sport models with a masterpiece of a movement to back the “king” title up.
How dare you call the yachtmaster ugly !!!
I enjoyed this. I think you should make a series where you give dismissed pieces a fair shot. Like a week on the wrist or something
That's actually a really good idea, man!! Thanks for the suggestion!!
I crew on a sailboat and that complication would be super useful. And we aren't doooshy, I crew for a grizzly old hippie slash pirate hehe.
It really won’t sell will it?
Love the honesty in your review! I always wondered why this watch is hated.
Thanks buddy!!! It's funky, but I'm fond of it.
that was more entertaining than i thought it would
I love the yacht master 2!!!
Love this watch! Will get sometime soon
This is the most beautiful watch rolex have ever built!
Not saying this watch will ever be popular or that it even looks good but it is a damn clever take on a chronograph
i know y’all saw that, he didn’t stop the second hand before resetting it.. 3:05
I’ve owned this for over 5 months and still don’t know how to set the regatta I don’t really care I’m not timing anything I just love the watch I get more compliments on this than any of my GMTs or Subs
Best looking Rolex.
I never thought Christian would ever make a Yachy2 video... then he listed one for sale...
Not useless...basically a 10 min timer...I like the watch....I have a blue dial Yacht-Master 40 a great watch!!!!
Thank you for easy simple instructions
AWESOME video AF man!
Thanks Hrishikesh!!!
Review a Breitling navitimer
While not practical unless you have a yacht lol I think it's a very beautiful looking watch one of Rolex best😊
Nice video mate
Future classic
Not a fan, but the 40mm and the new 42mm with matt black bezel , as well as the stainless steel 40mm with platinum bezel, love them.
Also great alternative to GMT models and you can avoid the ridiculous waiting list.
I do like your videos.

Check out The Tag Heuer Searacer 2000 for a regatta timer well-executed
Christian, great video. However, you did miss one thing. While the timer is running, you have the ability to fast forward or rewind the timer. If the chronograph hand is before thirty seconds, it will take you back to the start of that minute. If the chronograph hand has passed thirty seconds, it will advance the watch the the next minute. Thank you for the additional info!!!!
I must be an idiot.
I fucking love that watch and am actively selling current watches for the rosegold version.
Rolex version of a “fidget spinner” ?
Now correct me if im wrong, but isn't a watch primarily used to indicate the Time....or doe it not even do that??
The Dog of the Rolex range.
Another great video my man! Not my type of watch, but I respect what Rolex did with this one!
Thanks man fro the positive vibe!!!!
Theo and Harris - Always!

Great vid. Glad you did this. Interesting watch but not in my top 10.
Rolex can sell anything anywhere anytime.
how do i start and stop the little dail? the sub-dial??? mine doesnt move/sweep.. pls help
An interesting fact about this movement is that it has a fly-forward function, as well as flyback. If you look closely, you can see this in the video. Nice looking watch but a little too big at 44 mm imo.
Thanks for bringing that up buddy!!
I don't see watches as useful, I got a smart phone for the time, is about a statement of wealth, Rolex = wealth
They are status symbols for sure, but they are also interesting for their aesthetics, and as a machine.
So once you've used the bezel to change the mode etc., what can you use the bezel for? Second time zone? Sorry if I completely misunderstood.
Nice video, Christian!
Slightly off-topic: what shirt are you wearing?
Yeah the shirt is great
Defecation timer whilst in the office would be my main usage of this complication.
I'd need at least a 45 minute timer.
But it's trully helpfull
I am currently 14 years old and making good money.
goals: buy the Rolex yacht master 2
I’ll have this thing in about 7 months.
I love this watch! Rolex watches can be so boring (ie. Subs, GMts, DJ). This is more interesting and original.
Is it too early for the I'v-always-loved-it crew to start gushing about this discontinued watch?
I disagree I love the yacthmaster2 grabbed a few years back for a good price on the grey market and skydweller just picked up the stainless version the white gold version was a little steep. I know some people are Rolex purists but I happen like the some of the evolution.
All the reasons you explain why you hate it I love it! This watch because nobody wants it...may become a collection sleeper
Why, why is this beautiful piece so hated.
It was not released in 2015.
I respect your opinion i just dont agree with you in the slightest!
I could say the same thing about so many Richard Mille models!

If I ever win Powerball, I will buy this watch.
never liked this Rolex tbh...but lets see
Rex Yaster bro YES
The Yacht master 2 has to be the most disgusting watch ever made, it made me wanna give Invicta a shot
perfect to cook pasta!
Disliked for your negative remark on how the watch looks. Mind you, it's a beautiful watch.
If you have absolutely no respect for the piece, do not review it.
This.
The Timex Yacht Racer is easier to use.
No more ridiculous than the name “Daytona”. I would bet most Daytona owners don’t use or know how to use their bezel markers. Luxury is about getting more than you need. Your not a Rolex fan so this was a easy review to talk smack.
The price is more disgusting and offensive.
A $100 digital watch is more practical for real sailors.
I would love to see the instruction manual for this watch.
If you can follow it there is a job waiting for you at NASA ground control
True!! Hahahaha!!!!
Must admit mine gets used more as an egg timer than anything but oh well
Pf... cool! 👑
And how many times have we timed something memorable enough to stick *above* 10 mins? You didn't mention the GMT functionality 0-10+1 (12) settings to track any offset... Mechanical memory... Bezel action also exists in the skydweller as well.
Stunning piece. Glad weasel watch nerds dislike. Daytonas are seriously overrated.
Skydweller > Yachtmatcher
How's the over confidence of this guy.
At $18750 that's South of $19000.
Ion even know what ostentatiously means this watch tuff 😭
You seem to be very small. I don't think 44 mmmm on my 8 and 1/2 inch wrist looks large at all in fact I need a 44 mm just to look normal
What happens when it reaches zero
tool watch of all tool watches
Thalk about the odiot 44 mm deep sea abomination
