- Hey, sorry guys, but I'll probably never finish this. Though, I did say probably, there's still a chance I might come back and finish this animation some day.
Many people are curious about my design choices, and of course they have all right to be! So I'll explain:
Q: Why are they wearing old timey dresses?
A: The first few seasons of the show are heavily reminiscent of late 19th/early 20th century technology and overall historical vibes. Of course, there are modern elements, but I think it's cool to imagine a historically inspired MLP Human version.
Q: How did you choose their race/ethnicity?
A: When designing the main six, I was going by their fur. Since purple is the darkest secondary color, Twilight here has the darkest skin tone for example! Please don't be racist about the designs! I've seen far too many people being downright horrible because I gave a pony a darker skin tone in her human design.

I think it's genious that you made them look old timey. If you actually take notice of the series, you'll see that they've been made in an old time fashion. (Key point: they use quills) this is defiantly one of the best human versions I've seen. It could totally be used as an official.

It's weird, because a lot of MLP is set in less developed areas but also has cities like our own, so it's like every area is almost from a different time.

I like how you match their skin colours with their colour palettes ( rainbow dash dark skin matches with the bright colours, fluttershy is pale to match with the pastel colours etc)

I love how the characters look like they are from the Victorian era with some steampunk-y elements added in with rainbowdash. It’s honestly something that I’ve never seen with human drawings and animations of the mlp characters. Keep up the great work!

Looking good! The lip-syncing could use some work, but the art and movement is beautiful!
Lip syncing is harder than you may think.
Yeah! I tried and you really have to be careful! But it helps if you use software that can import your sounds in your timeline! Then you can follow the sounds! (Still hard though!)

Your answer about the ethnicities is funny because the show is made in Vancouver which is by far one of the more ethnically diverse places IN Canada, much less North America as a whole. So it definitely makes more sense when thinking about it that way.

Dash is fantasy steampunk which is kinda fitting and gives the animator an excuse to give her wings. She gets depicted that way a lot (and I'm pretty sure in the movie she'll be getting her own zeppelin just based on the toys they've previewed).

I'm not even in the MLP fandom, but I somehow stumbled across this and noticed how smooth the animation is and how cute the art style was.
Even if this is still a WIP, it's still super good and I can tell a lot of work went into it

It is. It's based on the simple dress Rarity "made" for her birthday in the "sweet and elite" episode where Rarity visited all the special social events in Canterlot, but in the process, forgot to make something nice for Twilight, and ended up giving her a simple yellow smock.
I agree with the colour stuff you did there! I can't imagine fluttershy with a darker skintone because of her colour palette, same goes for the rest.

I'm not really that big of a fan of mlp, but I do enjoy animations. I actually am in love with the character designs and the bouncy movements. Your design choices aren't completely realistic, but aren't completely cartoon-etc either, which is an amazing blend! And I can NOT believe that you were only 13/14 when you made this. holyHECK.
Hi, me again. I don't know when you made this in relation to your YanSim vid, but I just want to point out that your variation with lip flaps to coincide with the words is much, much better compared to some of the things in YanSim. Just a little more practice with the timing and that problem will eventually go away.
0:15-0:22. The walking is very stilted and with the way you have the background scrolling upward, it looks like they're walking down steps or something. I'd suggest a more parallel shot of the room getting smaller so that you get the effect you intended. (I know you wanted to hide rainbow dash until the reveal, but the ceiling to floor shot creates a different resulting effect.)
0:37-0:46. I'd say make the clouds more together than individual. Real clouds (especially storm clouds) clump together and form giant patches of giant sky wool, so individual pieces look awkward, especially with the parting. The frames with Rainbow Dash parting the clouds at 0:47 are a really good example of how the animated clouds would work, so I would suggest trying to base future clouds like that. (I also really, really like the parting clouds frame.)
0:50-1:18. The background of Equestria doesn't match with the characters in the foreground. It's clear that they have different styles, so it creates a visual clash. I'd suggest altering the background slightly with your own edits (like how you did with Equestria during the storm scene) so that it visually fits a little better.
I know this is an unfinished piece of work that you may or may not finish, but I still wanted to give constructive criticism cause you can always learn from past works. Again, I don't know when you made this in relation to YanSim, (you mentioned you were working on and off on it, so I don't know if you finished this WIP up after finishing YanSim) but I hope I was still able to help anyway.
PyraXadon just gonna point out that the clouds are supposed to be that way. As that's the way they're interpreted in the show. Otherwise you make very good points.

unfinished or not, these designs are incredibly original while staying true to the characters - especially rainbow dash. its been said but its never too much. it perfectly reflects her interests and personality even without being a pegasus and gives a pretty amazing picture about her human-y life
Only piece of advice is to work on the lip syncing. It just seems a bit off sync in my opinion, but other than that its amazing!

I really love Rainbow's design! Also the fact that you made Twilight of a darker colour (I read the description, I and I admire your reasoning) and how Rainbow isn't wearing a dress like the others is awesome! Great job, though I'm sad this won't be finished, you gained a subscriber ^-^

The clothing choices are definitely interesting-MLP’s always been this mixture of late 19th century technology, medieval aesthetics (castles, princesses, dragons, fantasy, and what not), with a whole lot of modern elements as well.

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! This is so creative! Not only is the animation flawless, but it has so many great ideas, like how Rainbow's wings are engineered, and how they sort of look like they're in older times, I think that is super creative, I beg of you, FINISH THIIIIISSS!

The EG movies used fur colors for an excuse not to give the girls normal skin colors
Also, it makes sense for Twilight to have dark skin since she has dark hair
just alittle tip, try working on RD's wing animation. Try looking at how actual birds fly and how their wings spread out when they flap compared to how their wings are when they are perched. hope this gave you alittle insight c:

Your animation skills are really well done. It shows how well someone can create animation even though they only have so many programs to work with (I use iMovie too^^). And the fact that you're able to create these videos in a short amount of time and have them come out as well as they do is an outstanding feat. However, if I did have to make one suggesting though, try to use more "bounce" when making characters move.
What do I mean by "Bounce"? I suppose a better term to be using would be "Anticipation" which is one of the 5-7 principles of animation. What it basically is, it makes an action seem more physically realistic, such as someone bending their knees when they run or jump. This could especially be used at 1:06-1:07, when Rainbow Dash is standing up to look at Twilight. Considering that Twilight is the most animated in that shot, so to speak, with her making the pose that she is while talking, I can see the audience focusing more on her than how Rainbow is moving, in a way, but it would still be somewhat noticeable.
Honestly, I'm sorry if this explanation doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's still well done, and I do wish you luck in finishing this animation. This is just a suggestion to how it can possibly be improved. Have a nice day :)

Don't worry, I once got booed off FimFiction for writing a function with a black female lead (myself) and was told my story was trash and boring while trying to add something new to the weirdly one note human in Equestria genre. Bronies tend to be kinda racist. It's really weird.
That aside, I'd like to talk about your animation! While the style and design is really nice I'd have to say the movement could be worked on, as it's a bit stiff now, and lip syncing is needed. Using smear frames and listening one by one to the music and moving your mouth with it can help you get it just right. That is if you wish to continue animation.
