@@SteakandChains It can't, using kinetic gain is forbidden in Everesting rules (for good reason, because it does exactly that - easier way to complete the hard challenge. That's a nono.)
I did this when I was trying to get the tron, found it tedious, instead I did workouts by picking the hilly route only. I got the meters, the benefit of the workout and without feeling the gradients, of course you have to use erg mode, and with all the races and group rides within no time I got the tron bike
Well let say I did a zone 2 workout in Alp de zwift for an hour, it would be easy, I would not feel the gradient but zwift would still give me the meters. Remember this vid is about the easiest and quickest way to get the Tron bike. I simply find that way less repetitive and tedious. I found it worked for me, others might chose a different route.
Ride the jungle route, turn right to do the Alpe du Zwift (quickest route to get there). Once you're up, change the challenge to also gain km for another challenge while downhilling, you can take a shower meanwhile. Earned the tron bike some years back, mainly by riding the alpe. Still missing the leightweight wheels though!
I was hitting around 1000 meters on the reverse epic KOM route every day for a couple of months. On my last day, I crushed it with 3110 meters in 4 hours and 57 miles. Plus, I finally unlocked the Tron bike!
I was mistaken in the beginning and thought the Tron came at 8800m. That was a disappointing moment hah. I am currently at 18k and have basically given up thinking about it, 50k just feels like a long way away. I will definitely give this a go thanks 👍
You/re not the first one to make that mistake and won't be the last. Though that's not nearly as bad as doing 20,000 meters of climbing only to find out none of it counts because you don't have the Everest Challenge turned on.
Inside 2 months of joining Zwift, rode the Alpe every day😵💫 I rode the Tron for a week and went back to a normal rig! Only use it when it makes sense for a race don't really like it lol
The masochist badge for climb 25 times ADZ does half of the work. When I started on Zwift I did ADZ 2 or 3 times daily to get it because i was that kind of idiot that burnt his legs to get a stupid badge and a virtual bike for his avatar for a slight better performance. And now the older and wiser version of myself only rides with the Atomic Cruiser that is the worst bike of the game for fun...
Great video and idea, but if you ride a little higher up you'll find a better place to do the repeats, when I did the Everest Challenge I was literally getting 50 mtrs of free elevation per reapeat..
@@smarty8772 yes, higher up there is a better spot, but you already need to climb for a while to reach it. This place is good because is right at the start of the route.
I tried this a couple of years ago when I saw Tofu's Adventures (mastertofu) do this little trick, but for some reason I couldn't get the U-turn to work properly. Come to find out you have to be moving at least 5kph (?) to make the U-turn. I was waiting too long to hit the button, so it wouldn't work.
I’ve done over 60000m. Mostly back in the first few years after Zwift started, but didn’t know that the Everest challenge had to be selected. Was pretty disappointed when I found out as it was always frustrating racing guys on from bikes as I kinda feel like it’s cheating. I only use Zwift occasionally now when the weather is just to bad. Tempted just enter 50kg and do threshold intervals up the climbs to get it. This trick will help speed that process up!
This shouldn't make sense. The vertical meters cant be free. you need to build the momentum first. Plus only 3m per direction? I can do 1000-1200hm per hour. That is not easy but also not all out.
@@RoadtoA Yeah it's not a bug it's just part of game. And there are no rules like in Everesting that you should always use same climb with same descent to prevent this metode of getting "free" meters.
@@Twai in Everesting you can't use this tactic, free kinetic again is against the rules.:-) Getting Tron bike is not an Everesting though, so all good!
My first winter on Zwift I didn't start the challenge right away only because I didn't know about it. The next winter I didn't really concentrate on it and finally last winter I decided "I am going to get this thing". My tactic was I rode pretty much constantly on Alp du Zwift doing my workouts which were of course in ERG mode. I got it pretty fast doing that. Thing is... I don't even use it. IMHO it is kinda goofy looking and I don't like the fact that the "rider" is always seated and the "rider" never stands while pedaling. When I am grinding it up a hill with a low cadence I want my avatar to reflect that. It is also easier to see when you are drafting I feel. I know it is a great allrounder for racing etc..but I like the S-Works or the Pinarello Dogma F 2024 with a cool set of hoops on it for that. Good content though and TBH, I never thought of that as a tactic. Good stuff and good luck on reaching A (or whatever it is now).
@@Mickwhyer thank you! I guess for many people it's that "I'm not a Zwift beginner anymore, I worked hard for this" badge. And the fact that it is one of the best allarounders just adds another layer of incentive.
Yeah, I got mine about three months ago, after three years of riding, and it just sits in the garage. I think I've used it maybe a dozen times since I got it. The problem with it is, everyone and their dog rides the Tron nowadays.
It's definitely effective in terms of time/energy spent to unlock the bike, and fun as a thought exercise...but ngl I'd seriously judge anyone who wants to spend ~40 hours of their life u-turning back & forth at low intensity just to unlock a shiny virtual bike more efficiently. My total playtime is about 87 hours and i'm currently 35k into the challenge without doing anything 'grindy'. If you ride a lot then you'll organically unlock the bike quite quickly, and if you don't ride a lot then why would you invest that much time into getting a better bike in the first place lol. I think if newer players seriously attempted this then they'd burn out and stop playing tbh.
It surely is repetitive. But it can be fine if you do an ERG workout or just sprinkle it in your standard riding. When I was still doing this challenge I just occasionally loaded this up, set up an iPad with some show and it wasn't that bad.
You're not going to unlock it organically quickly if you're like me and absolutely hate climbing. That's why it took me over three years to get mine. I avoided the climbing routes like the plague.
Riding oh no hill at less than 2w/kg gets you roughly 1000ft in 30 mins - seems high reward for very little effort and doesn’t involve the hassle of u turns
