I just love the purple/pink mix on the lilac ♡ I just started trying your beautiful flowers technique. My first ones was so stiff and unrealistic, but now I'm more comfortable with looser brushstrokes and no focus on details (I could be lost in details) and it's a new freedom ♡

Absolutely enjoyed this video.....really love their personal touches and techniques...thank you Kathryn and Gary for sharing on UA-cam! You have inspired me to start painting again....had to stop to take care of elderly parents...I have won ribbons in art festivals and had high recognition for portrait of my son. I would have won first place, however because I did not take the reference picture myself, they could not consider it an original. I was so happy to at least get high recognition.

Hello , I do not use a pattern when doing the Poppies and most of my Roses. I just start out by using a little bit of oil paint with a lot of medium or thinner on a brush so it is VERY thin like water color and I loosely sketch oval or round shapes where I want the Poppies to be placed. We do have several instructional books that show how to paint the Poppies and many other flowers and other subjects . These were our television series books. I also have an older DVD oof Pink Poppies with Daisies ,that Is VERY good, and we have a 3 hour floral technique DVD showing how to paint Poppies ,Roses ,other small flowers and many types of foliage. I like the talking all of it. Is the reason you use the oils for the background instead of acrylic, that the oil stays wet for blending? I diid Bob Ross years ago but switched to acrylics because of cost and smell. There is no smell now. I have watched you do this paint 3 times now. Getting courage. I am 78 and trying to paint again. Really like you folks.
Very very beautiful, I decided to try it. getting there. The only thing that would have helped more is that the video painting is not close enough and that’s not easy to follow

vicki ,I guess you lived in an area where the PBS station did not air our Tv shows. We were on an average of about 120 stations a year ,but there were over 200 PBS stations back in the 80s and 90s. Some of our past pbs tv shows from 2006-2012 ARE on UA-cam. They are the ones that are 25-26 minutes long. And then we also have more recent tutorial on UA-cam that were originally our live stream demos for Facebook. Those are 1-2 hours in length. Hi Gary & Kathwren, How are you? Are you still creating your live streams? The one I found on you tube is 5 years old.
I like the talking all of it. Is the reason you use the oils for the background instead of acrylic, that the oil stays wet for blending? I diid Bob Ross years ago but switched to acrylics because of cost and smell. There is no smell now. I have watched you do this paint 3 times now. Getting courage. I am 78 and trying to paint again. Really like you folks.
Very very beautiful, I decided to try it. getting there. The only thing that would have helped more is that the video painting is not close enough and that’s not easy to follow

vicki ,I guess you lived in an area where the PBS station did not air our Tv shows. We were on an average of about 120 stations a year ,but there were over 200 PBS stations back in the 80s and 90s. Some of our past pbs tv shows from 2006-2012 ARE on UA-cam. They are the ones that are 25-26 minutes long. And then we also have more recent tutorial on UA-cam that were originally our live stream demos for Facebook. Those are 1-2 hours in length. I can't use regular oil paint, so I use water mixable oil paint. Will I be able to use one of your books?

I will never be writing another instructional book. I wrote about 20 over the past 4 decades. Hard cover books 1,3,4,5,&6 are starting to get very limited.When the editions are sold out ,that will be it. No more books. We WILL be doing more DVDs for sale and possibly more painting packets.
