Thank you for this, its so encouraging. It's been years now since I have been trying to get into Security. I hit the rabit hole with hundreds of bookmarks and just feeling like walking away. Fast forward to 2021, I got a scholarship with Cybertalents. I also got invited to a community in SA (Hack South). I also discovered that a friend of mine is also persuing Pen Testing. We just started teaming up and I have so much hope. The sharing/teaching and helping from total stranges is so awesome. I have learned so much in a few months because of support. Look forward to OSCP when I'm ready.
@@c0nd4 Thanks. oh, and btw, congrats on your new gig. Hopefully, you will still have time to put out YT content. I see your channel is starting to grow which is great. I'm thinking about giving OSEP a swing later this summer if I can block out the necessary time.
@@c0nd4 Hey Conda, hope you are well man. Would you make a video about your job and how it is day-to-day? I think it would be very interesting and enlightening. Thanks man!
That was an excellent walkthrough man. I can relate with you in so many things. I am motivated about cyber security since high school. Now I am at my junior year on a computer science degree and pen testing is like my dream job. The thing is that I am not sure how to start approaching hacking and cyber security. I tried hack the box but i felt like i had no idea what I was doing and i gave up. So basically I am asking you what do you thing is an effective way get my self more involved. Should I keep struggling with hack the box try to read books or follow a cyber sec course...
Hey! Sounds like you're starting on a great path. I'd recommend trying Try Hack Me, as it tends to be more beginner friendly. Hack the Box is a great resource, but doesn't have as much guidance unless you read walk-throughs (which you definitely should). It's gonna feel hard for a while, but as you keep struggling and learning more it will click. You look back a year from now and realize how much you learned. Keep learning and you will go far. Best of luck!
@@c0nd4 I'm working hard on it. Really appreciate your instructions in this video, esp. all those free courses and links. So helpful. You've explained everything clearly, easy to comprehend. Well done! I do believe you'll become a very good teacher if you chose teaching, haha!
I got my oscp at 20 also recently bought oswe course but I don't know how I can get a job in USA I live in Jordan Can somebody help me out for a job offer in USA with h1b visa sponsorship ? 😅 Note: Here in Jordan doesn't care about cyber security so it's so hard to get a job here
I'm getting into high school this year and I'm also learning CS subject on school but with a twist. I eventually become an assistant teacher 'cause high school CS syllabus is too basic for me. LOL (My CS teacher is a PHD in CS)

Definitely! They have to build these vulnerable boxes from a base server image. So you can start to tell the things that they've added to the box. And they usually add things for a reason!
That's a tough one to answer. Truthfully there is no universal requirement. It's going to vary from position to position. I know people who got in this field with just certs, and I know people who got in with just a degree.

As someone who isn't involved in security, the title threw me for a bit of a loop not gonna lie
Yeah very common reaction. "Hacker" sounds cooler haha

Nice 🔥
Something that's not supposed to be there by default in OS could be privesc vector. Great point! Noted.

Do you need a degree or can you do certificates?

Hack the box, Eugene friend (great name for hackers BTW) and OSCP certification.
This video has 12k views. Pretty much let me know I have a high chance in getting a job as a pen tester.
