I’m so glad you normalize showing imperfect skin online. With all the filters it sometimes feels like everyone has perfect skin except me. So thank you for showing your bare skin! 😊
Absolutely!! I think a lot of folks don’t even realize they are looking at filters sometimes and it really messes with our perception… I do worry about it especially for younger people who don’t know a world without this phenomenon, but I think there are people who see the value in showing unfiltered skin for this reason.
I'm hitting 43 this summer and if you have ageing, oily combination skin, I've found a few tips.
Firstly, I mix a few drops of my primer into my sun block (for me, it's Fenty Soft Matte with Madagascar Centella sun screen from Skin1004) and apply to my whole face.
Let that sit a few minutes before going over with a very THIN layer of powder (I use Romand Better Than Finish). I use gentle tapping motions with a fluffy brush. You shouldn't see the powder on your skin.
These give a perfect base. You can go about your day or add makeup.
Next step, I don't use foundation. Rather, a single pump of concealer (NYX Bare With Me serum), which I tap out onto the back of my hand first and then tap tiny amounts over any problem areas. For me, this is where my cheeks meet my nose, as it gets very red. Also along the bridge of my nose, the tip of my chin and the inner portion of my forehead.
Then I set again with a very thin layer of the same powder and spray a setting spray (I love the E.L.F. setting mists. Either the green bottle or the blue).
This melts everything together beautifully and it actually looks like skin (rather than something floating just on top of my skin). From here I do my brows, cheeks and eyes as normal. Been getting compliments for how good my skin is looking these days and this routine is my only difference. Hope it helps anyone else. Especially if you have always hated foundation for how crappy it looks on you, regardless of which you use or how you apply it.
$40 here in Australia!
Thank you for your genuine no filters review of this product. Your honesty in showing how the product really looked after application & hours of wear is truly refreshing 😊
Oof. Thanks for saving me the money on this. I will stick with the wet n wild bare focus tinted hydrator - works great for my dry skin and it's like 6 or 7 bucks.
I was going to say the same thing! Completely agree, the Wet N Wild is fantastic!
Glad I could help!
Another vote here for the Wet n Wild. It has a relatively low amount of dimethicone, making it friendly for my acne-prone skin.
The fact that you so clearly show your skin and how the product REALLY look is incredibly helpful. And needless to say absolutely honest. Thank you for being so real 🤍
I just turned 53 and have dry skin so it’s a skip for me. Great review and you saved me some coins. 🥰
Glad it was helpful!
On the plus side, your eyeshadow looks beautiful! Thank you for the honest reviews you do. It’s so helpful to see a product in action.
I'm glad you didn't get sick, Amanda, that strikes such fear in us, lol. My daughter loves the Yummy skin tint and I'm still using the LA Girl gel, love it! Thanks for reviewing this for us
Hey Beauty... You are amazing for showing us your skin so close up before and during the wear test. I've had foundations that looked like this over the years on my dry skin and it's scary in a 10X mirror! Washed that stuff right off! I sure hope you get your money back! TBH, I've never had any luck with SPF added foundations and SPF 15 is a joke. Funny that with my dry skin I can use Wet N Wild or higher end but the mid priced one are no bueno. You are getting close to 100k subscribers... great going, you deserve it!!!
I use a tinted moisturizer, Korean BB cream or a skin tint. Your sunscreen is super important. One of these for me is BofJ sun serum but I have a few others I like. I don’t use a primer but I do use a full coverage foundation or concealer sparingly on top of a serum type product to correct. I love the Chanel Les Beiges, Danessa Myricks, Rose Inc and NARS formulae. I suspect the Revlon tint just isn’t it. I heard that Cover Girl’s new serum tint is especially good.
Thank you for this review and the close ups! I lost count of the foundations and concealers I purchased after watching rave reviews on how they performed on dry skin, only to be sorely disappointed. So many of them looked the way this did on your skin. The Revlon Illuminance Foundation did not work for me either, and after watching your video, the tint is a pass.
Great video 💙💛❤💚💜
The Yummy Skin Tint did the same thing to me. I decluttered it. I've found a better one from K-beauty.
Do you still like and use the Salt NY Sneaky Balm??
Have you tried the Covergirl tint that looks like the Chanel one with the little beads?
I want to! I’ve tried to purchase a few times and my shade has been sold out but it’s definitely on my wishlist!
What a bummer, especially for the price and since the Illuminace foundation was such a hit.
I’m not sure it would be worth it anyway, but have you tried this out just applying one light layer? It looked pretty decent when you were just working it into the skin with your fingers. It went downhill quickly fro there 😆 but I just wonder what would have happened if you had stopped there.
It still looked dry and sad no matter what 😨 I had to test the “buildable” claim but this looks bad on me regardless of what I’ve tried… I’m just gonna stick with my existing faves 🤣
I bought this stuff and put it on and my skin felt like it was heavily sweating. I had to wash it all off right away. Eww.
That price point is ridiculous. It should have folded the laundry for you.
You're a life saviour. The close ups are everything I've ever wanted from beauty channels. But adding alternatives is justtttttt 🤌🏼🙏🏼🤍. Thank you so much!
