I am a feminist myself, I definitely do not support any sort of misogyny or sexism in any way and have been vocal about many things within K-Pop itself but I will say this particular lyric "issue" is completely blown way out of proportion. He is saying "All these women come a dime a dozen" not "All women are a dime a dozen", those are two completely different meanings. "All these women *come* a dime a dozen" in the context of this song is basically saying that a bunch of girls hit on them on the regular, that's not that bad and honestly is probably true but either way this is in context with the "sexy bad boy player" role the boys take on in this song and performance. "All women *are* a dime a dozen" out of context with the rest of the song is what people on Twitter are taking it as which would definitely imply that they think women are cheap and not so important but that is *NOT* what was said in this song. People have been analyzing everything each K-Pop group does lately, idk if quarantine is just making people mad bored so they over analyze or what but this is something that shouldn't have been taken this way at least in my opinion.

Yes! Me too. I even listened to both versions and I swear for the English they mixed the vocals quieter than the original. Thank god it’s not only me that noticed that. The Apple Music versions seem to have the English quieter same al the official UA-cam versions.

About that one lyric situation, people are just blowing it way out of proportion. I’ve been looking on twitter and it’s clear that people weren’t connecting it with the rest of the lyrics. It was blown out of proportion in my/and a lot of other peoples opinions ☺️
It actually not problematic at all and only fits the concept. They simply meant that "there are plentiful of women/a lot of women they can get" (credit. @nclitzen) so yeah people just misinterpreted it lol.

Yes they kept focusing on "dime a dozen" which in supply and demand theory means its so common that its valueless. But in casual phrasing when referring to things that AREN'T PRODUCTS. The term "come dime a dozen" just means something is common or plentiful. I hate that they are going to get bashed into changing the lyrics when they did nothing wrong at all
I don't think I have a problem with a particular line personally, just that the mixing of the song isn't done too well? You know? Kinda like the bass overpowers their voices.

To slightly address the lyrics issue. Personally, when I read the lyrics to the entire song, it basically just talks about a bad boy finding love. People took the idiom too literally without looking at the context, and made it an issue, and it actually wasn't. The issue for me is that the lyrics were poorly constructed. Amateurish to a point. Plus the mixing is bad compared to the original. Vocals were slightly muffled. Still love this song though. And that MV is hot like an oven lol
tbh there is really nothing confusing about the lyrics. the lyrics were women COME a dime a dozen (women flock and come to them is common bc ya know they're hot cuz dis is a flex track). it's totally different from women are a dime a dozen which means women are cheap, common, etc. There is a DIFFERENCE. Im not defending the lyricist or wayv. Im just saying that READING COMPREHENSION can help u guys! SO STUDY hahaha

exactly my thoughts!! I've said i was very disappointed with the different version this time, they did a good job with the other songs that have more than one version and I wouldn't care at all if they had to postpone this one if it meant the work would be improved.. the mv was nicely shot, the lighting was good and the dance focused shots were great too so I'll probably watch it more times, but I don't rlly think I'll listen to this version as much as the others, which is sad cs I was very excited abt it :(
I've said this a lot across NCT/SuperM videos, but like... SM please PLEASE hire a decent Eng. lyricist. If we compare D.O's Eng. 'For Life' with the full Kor. EXO version, the meaning matches and so does the vibe, but if we compare any of the NCT franchise's Eng. versions with the original versions, SM just takes sincere lyrics and turn them into fuckboy anthems. 'Highway To Heaven' was about being there for someone throughout the journey of life but was turned into a song about - essentially - a one-night stand. 'Love Talk' was more spiritual and poetic as a Chinese-written song than it was as an Eng. song. Honestly, this song - Bad Alive Eng. - was really hard for me to understand what was being sung/rapped. Unfortunately, the only parts I understood were the Korean parts - that's as someone who doesn't actually speak Korean and is a native Eng. speaker. Not so much WayV's fault. The director/producer should have coached the pronunciation better. Still, the parts I can understand definitely fall in line with the established trend. The only NCT song that has worked with the English switch-up is 'Regular' because the album's concept explained away the more material aspects of the Eng. lyrics.
The two main issues I have with NCT's ENg. versions are these:
1- The Eng. version usually does a huge disservice to the original lyrics and concept of the song. If they want to do an Eng. version, don't cop out; just make a song that is Eng. in its original form!! (If they're already changing up the entire meaning of the song)
2- The constant trend of changing the meaning of the song to something more fuckboy in the Eng. versions kinda makes it seem like SM views the international (female) market as easy or promiscuous or - in the words of some Knetz - perverted. It then, in turn, encourages the native fanbases and perhaps even the idols to think of the international fanbase as a sex-raging entity XD
Like, seriously SM, we understand that Korea and China are more conservative nations and if you released a title track or promoted a b-side with such obvious sexual connotations, it probably wouldn't go down well, but please stop forcing your horny lyricists purely on the international market. If it was just one song, fine... but it's the entire NCT Eng. discography. Seriously!!

about the issue, it really shouldn’t even be called that. a lot of people were upset about the lyric situation, however the song was rewritten and intended for the western market, hence the English and sadly most English music is like that. although, the song isn’t entirely how they’re making it seem, it’s about a bad boy that wants to ideally find love, simple. some people act as if love talk, the English version, also didn’t have those type of words, people be choosing what to pick apart at this point honestly. anywaysss for the most part we all love the song, the mv be killing us all andddd we here to support our boys❤️

I know this is late but I don't know if someone talk about this here but Ten's tattoo on the side of his chest is for him to cover his marks from his heart operation when he was young(y'all can correct me if I'm wrong). His previous pictures shows a mark on his chest but now he has his tattoo on- MY BABY :(((
its interesting because i much prefer the mandarin version to the english, forgetting about some of the lyrics, but also i found it harder to hear them sing in this version,felt the mixing was actually better with the original.
also jeff i commend you for doing an actual serious review and still being able to break down the dancing, given what was going on in the mv, you are one of my favorite review channels ever.
