I just found this and it's made my day! Thanks for posting it. Aimee Mann has quietly put together one of the most powerful catalogs of singer-songwriters in recent music. She's a real treasure.

Been a fan of Aimee since I saw the video for Coming Up Close on MTV and thru her early solo career. Saw her at Largo in the most intimate of setting many times…I miss Jon Brion’s influence though. That was some magical chemistry they had.

Tendonitis and lack of interest in touring are good reasons NOT to tour with anyone. He's got the Hollowood gig going on.

Her voice is every bit as perfect as Carole King or Karen Carpenter or anyone else. I'm absolutely mesmerized by it.

She's so smart and funny! I love how she describes her uneasiness with the term 'concept album'. "It's such a 70's kind of ponderous, Rick Wakeman, cape-wearing, double-necked guitar kind of thing" hahaaa! :-D

I met her once. I drove the shuttle for a music festival and retrieved her and her band from the airport. She's very tall and outgoing. And she also zinged me when I asked her if a piece of luggage was hers. I didn't realize that it was a golf bag, and not a regular suitcase. She turned to me and said: "We're not here to golf, man."

I just randomly brought up this video right now to watch it as I posted in my Facebook site a couple days ago the time I spoke with Ainee Mann that she was being interviewed on NPR's Talk of the Nation for the 40th anniversary of the release of The Beatles Sergeant Pepper's album. [You can look up that discussion on NPR the 40th anniversary of The Beatles album with Aimee Mann interviewed, it's a delight to listen to her speak about discovering the album when she was 8 years old.]
That's a pretty long sentence I just wrote prior here, with voice text, so I hope it turned out all right.
When I was impressed to find in your comment is that Julian Coryell played with Amy Mann's group for awhile. I did not know this. I'm assuming that's the same Julian Coryell that is Larry Coryell's son. I'm a long time fan of Larry Coryell and I've seen him perform live once when I went to talk to him and have him sign an old album from 1975, the unique collaboration he did with the group, Oregon. That album was titled - The Restful Mind.

Damn .. I arrived at Berklee College Of Music the 1st week of January 1980. On my 1st day, I walked over to the Mass Ave building. Women were in very short supply at Berklee . The 1st woman I saw was a very young Aimee. She was stunning . After one semester , I got an apartment with a few friends . We lived on a beautiful block in horrible basement apartment like something out of a horror movie that became 24/ 7 jams and parties . We lived below Newbury Comics on Newbury St. If you went upstairs , into the shop , bought a comic or punky record, the clerk who would take your money was Aimee . 😎 People have often asked me what Aimee was like . I would tell them she had ability . Aimee could play , write , and sing . You could see the focus and ambition in her piercing eyes . I would say Aimee was very quiet / guarded if she didn't know you or trust you. I probably fell in the latter . 😎 I was young , wild , and sounded like Goodfellas. My roommates' band entered the Boston Rock & Roll Rumble. They were all fiery musicians , and were livid when they lost to Aimee's band, 'Til Tuesday. Aimee had excellent tunes and had a look and a style my roommates couldn't match. When I think of who was "The Look" of the early 80's , I tell people it was Whitney , Madonna , and the Queen Of New Wave was Aimee. I love all her early stuff , when we were young and full of piss and vinegar . I love her song writing and voice in her solo career . I regret I wasn't Aimee's guitar player . We both have come a long way since Newbury St . 😎 Journey well .. 🔱🪓🛡
