This is AWESOME!!! I grew up in Denver and bowled there many times as a junior in the late 70's/early 80's. Absolute premium on accuracy, splitting boards. 300 was a HUGE deal in those days.
RIP George McDonald (1932-2004) RIP Jimmy Certain (1939-1996) RIP Don Johnson (1940-2003) RIP Earl Johnson (1929-2006) RIP Billy Welu (1932-1974) RIP Bud Palmer (1921-2013)
I suspect the regular play-by-play man for the Pro Bowlers Tour, Chris Schnekel, was enroute to or already in Grenoble, France for ABC's coverage of the 1968 Winter Olympics, which would begin a week-and-a-half after the date of this telecast.
thoughts from a middle aged midwesterner…..1. congrats on 8k sub#cribers. 2. ill do my best to increase that number, it should be easy, my fellow middle aged midwestern friends all watched….and loved Saturday afternoon bowling and it took me a looooong time before i realized its all HERE on YOU TUBE! 3. im irish, gotta schtick together😉
Oh that professional bowling still attracted intelligent individuals. But alas, the powers that be shun that image in favour of poor sportsmanship, tantrums, and homosexual displays.
Don Johnson. One of the sweetest backswings in bowling. Thanks for the memories.
I love these classic telecasts! Thanks for the posts, Irishpogi!
Irishpogi, the classic bowling videos you posted are amazing

Only 2 balls in the cluster! Skill and ability prevail over ball changes! Love it
I bowled 300 here in October 2013. Now an AMF center.

It's weird to watch these and hear them calling them "crankers". Also weird not to see replays. I loved it though. Thanks for posting.
straight ahead, my kind of lanes. one arrow out. Bowling made simple
Commentators:
Bud Palmer & Billy Welu
Does anyone know what method of making the 7-10 Billy Welu demonstrated? Since he said it wasn’t approved by the ABC, maybe he used two bowling balls?
He used a bb gun.
was this the 299 telecast
"Where's The Color ?!" Refer to a Wendy's TV commercial.
46:08: Power failure.
