Node.Js Senior developer here, And I'm a subscribed in you channel for two main reasons 1 - Your way to simplify things, even though I know most of them all, I still enjoy watching you explaining them. 2 - No matter how experienced you are, you still can learn some useful tricks from others even for basics. Keep it up man :)
yeah he doesnt just try sound intelligent. I feel like a lot of people want to be perceived as genius so when they apply for work or get invited to convetion talks or some crap. this guy is a beast.
Every beginner to backend MUST watch this video. Learning node, express, mongoose, etc all at once, I didn't know where one ended and the other began. This vid and the blog cleared up all the confusion, and your explanation of next() was better than the official documentation. Thanks a lot Kyle, for explaining what middleware really is so well! 😊
I have been trying to understand what middleware is for the last two weeks. Went through a ridiculous amount of documentation with no clarification. And then this randomly pops up in my recommendations and everything is suddenly so clear. Thank you so much, Kyle!
Hey Kyle, you probably won't see this, but for those who are in the comments, these videos he puts together are amazing. I am currently enrolled in a Software Engineering course, and when we get the new weekly material, the first thing I do is check to see if Kyle has a video on it. Most of the time he does. I have learned so much from you. One day I will land a great job thanks to your videos, and then I will be able to repay you somehow.
This guy is just an absolute beast. Can't believe I bought a course and didn't understand a thing about express, all I did was to copy til' I watched this video.
I am working on a project using Express and had several questions about middleware. You literally explained all of them one after the other. Amazing work.
Everyone else I try to learn from zooms past topics like this and just expects you to get it. Thank you for your clarity and systematic representation of flow and function.
This is a topic that has always been dull to me even though I use it quite a bit, and it always feels uncomfortable to use something you do not fully understand You have clarified the issue completely !!!
Luv you man I spended more than 2 hours in an error in my website but couldn't found so i left it after 2 hours i saw your video and figured out my error luv you so much😄❤❤❤
You have a very clear straight to the point way of explaining things, your tutorials are super time efficient to watch, as everything you talk about is relevant to what you're trying to explain.
Man this was by far the best explanation of middlewares ,,, nothing fancy or complex, just to the point explanation of what needs to be known if you actually want to learn the concept and not some block of code... the explanation after 11:00 is missed by all other videos I have watched on this topic and which is so essential in actual application of middlewares,,, for my case I was looking for some kind of explanation of how does logger functions log response times if they are initialized as first middleware as in it should have passed to next middleware before sending response,,, But all is now clear and I am able to digest the functioning of it...
You are a phenomenal teacher, I can always rely on your tutorials if there's anything I don't understand about web dev, your videos are really empowering and super helpful!
Bro you are like a god of nodejs . I completely understood middle ware. Your video is awesome. Please keep making more such videos. You are a great teacher.
If I ever need to know something and see that you have created content that explains it I watch it because I know it's going to be excellent. But this was the first time I read one of your posts... and now I'm an even bigger fan, thank you!
Thank you so much for including a blog post too. Love you explanations. But for a quick reference or a lookup on a specific part. The video format is rarely friendly. Love to read guides
You are definitely a great teacher. After watching your videos, I always feel my one thumbs-up has been too small for your gratitude. Thank you for making these videos.
Amazing simple explanation with examples, this is how documentation should be written, with emphasis on certain behaviours of something instead of dull wall of text from which you might or might not figure something out and, you go to youtube for human explanation, great work man!
I am learning express and doing my first project that's almost done. The term middleware kinda freaks me out without any reasons lol. That's why I avoided using it in my project. But after this explanation, the concept is crystal clear! Thank man
I want to say that your free stuff is miles ahead of many people's paid stuff. I'm just finishing one of the most advertised udemy-like courses (it's on udemy too, I think) for fullstack and I've caught so many errors and unexplained details, that I often end up watching your stuff. For example, in this course nobody explained middleware adequately. Not even http action responses. In 14 minutes you've given me more information than the course did in 1 hour. And it's paid...
Thanks for the great video. I wish more videos were like this. So many code-along tutorials leave newbies thinking they're learning better than they are. Great video.
This was the first video i ever on UA-cam without wasting time and giving all the contents surely related to the topic. The topic is well covered and my concepts are just polished again. Just make me blush .. thanks. Btw it was first to watch your video. I do subscribe.
you are really great man , even our institute faculty don't know how to teach ..our faculty make the things complicated but in reality the things are made more easy by you thanks ....a ... lot
I see that many people are very positive about this video. I, for instance, find the title:everything you need to know about express middleware not very correct. Apparently, you need to install some server, but where? What kind of server? Where do you place the codefile? How does this middleware server throughputs the initial request to the listening webserver? Otherwise put, I understand about the next() function call, but I haven't learned anything about express middleware.
Awesome 👏 I have been studying it on some courses in Brazil and I didn’t have an such good explanation like this ! Now I fell secure to start my career 😂
Excellent video, really helpful for beginners (especially the explanation on how next() is not the same as function return). But i think its also important to explain on error-handling middleware, that would definitely help the beginners to explore the error-handling pattern in express js
Please add `nodemon` to your blog post for completeness 👍 The post currently says this: "As we make changes you will need to restart your server in the console to see the changes take effect."
I enjoyed this article a lot, while reading it I noticed a typo/grammatical error. blog.webdevsimplified.com/2020-04/trade-money-for-time/ Here is the corrected text: "If you need to deploy a simple web application *THEN Heroku will take care of all the complex tasks for you..." One might argue that WILL should be replaced by CAN in this sentence.
clarification @6:36 - it doesnt log "Users Page" because the app.get file path 'users page' is only invoked when the user sends a get request to that page

I get the vibe that you would be great to work under for anyone whose genuinely into the craft.
Hey I need some assistance in node js development. Since you are a senior developer would you help me out please?
Wow, great mindset actually. Nice
Exactly what I need...thanks bro
It is ridiculous how good an instructor you are.
Thank you!

Very true
Meanwhile, my teacher taking 3 hours to explain what I just learnt in 15minutes
Kyle for prez!
Dude! every single time, after searching for hours, I end up finding your video and understand a concept.
Never stop
You are a great teacher
every single time? So not a fast learner then ;-p

bro thanks again. U r just different from the rest of the tutors out here on youtube. Clear, concise and more importantly teaching best practices
It is actually unreal how good you are at teaching, great job man.
This is a topic that has always been dull to me even though I use it quite a bit, and it always feels uncomfortable to use something you do not fully understand

this is the best video on middleware on you tube great job mate👍
Luv you man

In this 14 min videos you have cleared the major concept which link to the error handling, route handling and many more
Thanks, great explanation
Bro you are like a god of nodejs . I completely understood middle ware. Your video is awesome. Please keep making more such videos. You are a great teacher.
The only thing I hate about this video is it ended! This is gold content right here! ❤
spent a week just getting the concept, cant believe how easy you make it !
Thanks for providing quality content
No problem. I am glad you liked it.

I just started learning NodeJS and Express and this video really helps me to further my understanding about Middlewares! Thanks so much for this!
The distinction between next() function call and return was the vital information and I am glad you addressed it
I absolutely love your content. Between Boot-camp, Treehouse, and you, I'm almost competent.
The stuff about `return` (12:02) was amazing.
You are Awsome. This is the best video to understand Express Middleware.
I watched a tutorial where the person used this method for auth. At that time, I couldn't understand much but you made everything clear.
I watched the blog article and want to say thank you that your article is so great
You are definitely a great teacher. After watching your videos, I always feel my one thumbs-up has been too small for your gratitude. Thank you for making these videos.
This video is still golden for every js developer who wants to dig deeper
For me, Your article was better than Express documentation
Thank you!

I am learning express and doing my first project that's almost done. The term middleware kinda freaks me out without any reasons lol. That's why I avoided using it in my project.
But after this explanation, the concept is crystal clear! Thank man
Finally I understood middleware correctly when you explained in last section before & after example. Great work man!
Best explanation on UA-cam period.
Hey Kyle, I had been looking for detailed explanation of express middleware. Thank you for this video! You went above and beyond. Subscribed.
I'm about to watch this video, and the comments gladden my heart...I can't wait to watch it
It's amazing how I can understand all of ur videos. You're an amazing teacher
Exactly I ran through the same, cannot use headers .... And here you are .... explaining things so easily, crisp and clear !! Thanks man 👍

Nice video, studying this in a full stack camp and your video helped explain a nice overview of middleware.
I just went through the blog article. It is amazing. Thank u dude..💖💖💖
Nice job walking through a very simplified version.
Like the way you showed by running examples with your explanations.
Ohhh Man !!! I was so f**ing confused about this next () !!!! in middleware but you have made everything very clear. Thanks a lot :)
Bruh I triple clicked that like button so many times . The name web dev simplified
not only sounds cool but you do exactly what it says
I was already aware of what middleware is but this explanation made it much clearer. Thanks!

Just amazing tutorial. Thank you, I finally understand properly what the middleware is and how it works. Thank you!
I love this channel! I learned so much from React hooks to Node
Great video Kyle. Your explanations are always so clear and easy to understand.

Thank for adding a ton of clarity to the Javascript community 🌎

Such a nice explanation, a little deeper to basics
Simply the best videos explaining concepts clearly & to the point.
Thanks so much for your efforts. It not only clears my mind but also saves me a bunch of time.
You are simplify my learning, thanks Kyle
I like it when you say, "EVERYTHING!" I feel assured!
I think "Login middleware" should be "Logging middleware". Great Video!
Amazing video kyle , thank you very much , in just about 15 minutes , I learned what i wouldn't learn in 2 hours , thank you again
You rock!!! Girl developers, give a cheer to this post.
You are the best teacher ever! You saved me time and complexity

Best Middleware tutorial.

Excellent, concise and complete explanation
thank you so much 😭😭😭 bruh, I was having a hard time with that next() function and all I needed was a return statement.

great video bro really helped me learn new concept and you really simplified it [thumbs up]

great explanation man ,better then those paid courses explanation
You got a subscriber Man..thanks a lot for this video. Keep up the good work :)
clarification @6:36 - it doesnt log "Users Page" because the app.get file path 'users page' is only invoked when the user sends a get request to that page
Same doubt
Very good camera and audio quality.
This is what i needed. Thank you!!!
