It really doesn't stay very congested during rush hours along the northwest portion you speak of. Development has been very slow on that end of town over the years. The only place it backs up is southbound in the afternoons right before the traffic light at Urbandale/Robertson, and the additional flyovers are going to fix that problem.
Amazing that thing has 8 lanes. Chicago has too many 6-lanes freeways into town. I-90 is 6 lanes from the 90-94 split N of town all the way out and so is I-94 from the same split all the way north. I-55 is 6 lanes from I-80 all the way to within a few miles of downtown, same as I-290. It kills me living here that a metro area of 10 million would have wider freeways. The only 8 lane freeways are 90/94 (when conjoined), I-294 (whole length) and I-88. I-80 is 6 lanes and so is I-57.
Thanks for the shout out! Of course, you didn't have to do that, but I appreciate it just the same! I should mention that since the reconstruciton, during the afternoon rush hours, the northbound portion of the eight-lane section from the airport area (beginning of video) to the Ellington/I-65 interchange (middle of the video), traffic isn't extremely heavy and moves at the speed limit!
You are welcome, I appreciate you getting me all that info.
Thanks, it really is a neat road, I had no idea?

I did not expect much from this particular road, I was totally shocked.
@Fanik8 - It really is, I wasn't even planning on filming it that day until I saw a few miles of it.
Thanks for the ride, Jim! Definitely 5 stars....
That's because I used the same song as the I-70 kansas City video.
Hey, with all the music restrictions on here I gotta go with what will work.
I'm surprised to see some fairly good sized hills on this road. There's actually some extensive cuts through solid rock.
Briley pwy was a nightmare before and during the widening. It is nice now except the 55mph speed limit on most of it. They give a lot of tickets here.
@Jean1juan I don't know.
Never knew Briley wasn't a freeway in the 1980's. I'm 25 and I've lived my whole life here. I knew they expanded it about 10 or 15 years ago.
@murfreebear it's so free and there's no congestion. There's no reason the speed limit shouldn't be 70 all over
@Jean1juan yes

@Freewayjim is that white bridge pike you entered at the end
good luck
I wish they would turn it into an interstate

BTW, That truck is illegally on the Briley Pkwy, @5:29
It's just pure luck :)
