I subscribe to most of the similar channels, but you sir, are the standard bearer. Top notch quality of the video and the execution. I know how much work it must entail. Good job and thanks.
LMAO @ the "Traffic sux, 24-7" sign that you inserted in the first minute. It was nice seeing I-5 again in this video, since I haven't been down in So Cal for the past few months, and probably won't be back down there for a long time. Reminds me of how I used to always have to elevate my mental state of attention, anytime I had to get onto the freeway to get around Greater Los Angeles, with the intense traffic levels down there. Big thumbs up on this one.
That first part reminded me of my return drive to Santa Monica from Disneyland on 07.04.1981 ScrewdUP, you didn't screw up here! Thanks for reviving a part of the summer of my big 2-0.
John Laszek And I can guarantee you that drive is much easier now than it was in 1981, if for no other reason than that I-5 was the old 3 lane-per side road between Irvine and near Los Angeles, and traffic was an absolute nightmare back then for that very reason. Make no mistake, traffic is still tied up often, but the wider freeway in Orange County makes things far easier. In a few years, those from Buena Park/La Mirada to Commerce will have it much easier once the I-5 widening project is completed in that area.
You're exactly right about, among other things, I-5 being US-101 before the truncation of many US routes in California, including every one of the US routes that were in San Diego, and about it being three lanes per side until I-5 came into being. That section of I-5 (originally US-101) was built in the 1950s, and part of it was originally only two lanes per side before it was widened in the early-to-mid 60s to give it a third lane. That's in contrast to I-5 in San Diego, which has always been four lanes per side from the time it was built, and I-405 was built the same way, which is why I believe that I-405 carries the name of the San Diego Freeway, even though it doesn't go anywhere near San Diego.
I came through the downtown (4-level) interchange just about the same day you shot this (late October). At that interchange it identified 110 north as "Parkway" (but not by name Arroyo Seco). I notice on the video 110 was still marked Pasadena Freeway from "the 5."
That section of the 5 south of downtown to about Disneyland is always backed up. I don't know what it is. I live in San Diego, and I usually take the 405 to the 110 when I go up to LA.
Good job on the video. Looking forward to your I-210 video. I used to travel that a lot, but can't find any footage of it on youtube. Are you uploading it soon?
Nice video and I still remember that I-5 from the 605 fwy or LA/Orange county gets congested everyday and this part of I-5 in LA county is comparable to US-22 in the Lehigh valley because traffic occurs on weekdays from Pa-309 to Fullerton avenue or Pa-33 to PA-512 or PA-987 because both roads were constructed in the 1950s
Emmit Jones San Diego is no picnic, either. I lived there for 30 years, and it's getting just about as bad in San Diego as it is in the Los Angeles area, and Camp Pendleton, which links the two metropolitan areas, is just flat awful, and is only going to get worse in the foreseeable future.
dunno if anyone cares but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been binge watching with my girlfriend lately =)
Cool video. I think i can find a great home to stay near Hollywood or Santa Monica. Cant have 2 homes. Interstate 48 and U.S. Route 86 cant wait. Once again love this video.
Mister your video is great. Sir i will leave universal studios on the I 101, how i can join to the I 5? i want to drive from Universal City to Anaheim Disney. Please give me a hand.
That was fun! You're a safe driver too. How do you get all those drivers to sign a release for displaying their license plates? j/k (I'm such an ass) ...Love the music!
I don't understand the complains and negative comments. Click, Brent and I are not getting paid for this, we do it because we enjoy it, the fact that most of you guys enjoy it makes it that much nicer. If you commission one of us (as in PAY) to do a certain video then you can complain and criticize all you want, and we'll fix the issues, otherwise, enjoy the damn ride! If you have an issue that you must get off your chest, like grammar, an inaccuracy or a typo then send a private message.
If I'm not living where I'm living for good, then I'm gonna move to LA because sprawling cities are my comfort zone. And on top of that I was made 4 the west coast.
@@sleetskate Gotta love I reply to my comment 11 years later. And your comment is six years old. European here and always loved the US and its people but your public transport is terrible. 😄 Of course it has its historical and political reasons and it would be ignorant of me to presume otherwise. Take care mate.

Why would you tail another driver and brake rapidly, then switch lanes and do the same thing. That makes no sense.Thats what many of the drivers seem to be doing, all driving like teenagers .
That's why the Santa Ana Freeway will forever be known as "the World's Largest Parking Lot" judging from the first 2 minutes of this video. Interstate 5 before E.L.A. Interchange: Santa Ana Freeway Interstate 5 after E.L.A. Interchange: Golden State Freeway

Excellent production all the way! Weird how I-5 goes down to two lanes for a short bit twice through the East LA Interchange. Big thumbs up!

cjs83172 it was the Us-101 before I-5 came in the late in the 1960's

It had 3 lanes on each side too before I-5 came along late in the 1960's

i know the entire freeway you were on. This brings back memories. i Love L.A
It's been thirty years since I've driven through, and honestly, I don't miss it!
Congratulations for the excellent video production quality!....
nice. love your editing style. keep up the sweet work. looking forward to the rest of your L.A. vids
Great video of I-5. I drove parts of it back in 2002.
Good to see some LA again - it never gets old.
i love the music!!
your song choices are amazing

I never thought LA traffic was nearly as bad as people say. Certainly not a cakewalk, but way better than my experience driving in the bay area.
LegalShield3000 im from bay area 2😂
I want la traffic
Really well done - lived right off Los Feliz Blvd for 16 years

your videos are amazing. i miss some videos in utah and colorado though
@ScrewdUPClickV2 Did you get footage of the portion of the 210 that includes the Metro Gold Line through Pasadena?

@ScrewdUPClickV2 Probably 101 or the 405 (even with all the traffic jams) 91 near Anaheim is pretty cool as well.
Cool video. I think i can find a great home to stay near Hollywood or Santa Monica. Cant have 2 homes. Interstate 48 and U.S. Route 86 cant wait. Once again love this video.
@ScrewdUPClickV2 About this, some of the connections were impractical and served by the Connections on I-710
Very good job...Thanks for the video, I think it would be a great place to live...that temperature throughout the year...Is it constant?...high.
Are they planning any upgrades for the Interchange?
Interstate 5 is probably one of the freeways I drive the most here in Washington state, besides 2, 522 and 405. Busy freeway

why even have a 65 mph speed limit? it might as well be 55 mph. That's why 55 was extended on 5 freeway SE of downtown.
ir10031981 why a speed limit when you literally go less than 10 mph half the time you're in LA
Loving L.A.
Sensational, Like !
3:54 that green honda😂
Isn't it very much cars? Doesn't people in L.A take the the subway? Nice video though :)
Downtown has meh public transit, the porblem is everyone living in the outer burbs commuting downtown to work.
