I've tried those Stewie jigs and hogballs, But it seems so hard to get a hookup. Mostly the shrimp is robbed. Never caught a hog on them. What am I doing wrong?? I do hook a hog occasionally using huggy jigs, but the ratio seems to be 50 grunts for one hog.
Unfortunately that’s just hogfishing but if you’re getting consistently robbed on shrimp you could be in an area with a lot of small stuff like pinfish and Tom tates. We do our best to avoid ledges that have big shows though because it’s usually those fish who constantly pick your bait off.

Thats a mystery I cant crack. Been out a dozen times and caught 2 hogfish in total. Cant seem to find them. Using navionics relief shading.
Cover as much ground as possible, some ledges produce and some don’t but we always try to hit them on a good moving tide!
