I just got back into Emilie's music and I'm so glad. I'm singing all the lyrics because I still remember all of them..

She speaks in the third person so she can forget that she's me. Love this part! 💙💙

This is my favourite song by her by far, I know it's from Ophelia's pov in hamlet but I really relate to some of the lyrics

This is an amazing video to an amazing song! Great job :) I love how you included EA's definition of "Opheliac" annd her reason for writing the whole thing...that provides even more insight. The lyrics are correct, the timing is great, and the picture works...i love it ;)

Oh, boys listen to Emilie Autumn too? That's pretty amazing, because I've never met any man listening (and understanding) to her music.

The screaming is perfect. The e q is underrated. That's over-topped vocal distortion at its finest. We need more artists/mixers willing to not use the britney box.

yes, it is not just intelligent girls who are depressed because they can see the real world around them. I am a guy and I love her lyrics, they are so reminiscent of myself. It was not until I was 15 that I discovered a purpose, I want to make this world a place worth living in, no matter the cost to myself. I don't want my kids to have to grow up the way I did, seeing what I have seen and knowing what I know, intelligence is both a blessing and a curse.

exactly like her. I never read hamlet but everywhere you look, even on urbandictionary, it relates the word Opheliac with Ophelia

I love the harpsichord, it's one of those instrument that is not played enough. Then agian, if more people played it then it would not be as special since you would hear it more often.

Chances are it's called something along the lines of "Cembalo" (with a "ch"-sound at the start) if your language is not English.

Eh. Not really. The screaming, in my eyes, is her trying to portray anguish and absolute agony. Which is kinda the point of screaming, isn't it? I may be wrong, but it's all artistic. And cleverly done.

People know she got the term Opheliac, or rather was inspired by, the character of Ophelia from Shakespeare's Hamlet? She was this pure, almost uncorruptable girl who was driven to madness by her love for Hamlet, who used her, and also her father---ironically, her purity was her downfall. Great song, though~!

Hello everyone. I wrote a song inspired by the Ophelia story which I recorded last year - it's very different to Emilie's amazing style, but some of you may be interested. Maddy - Perchance to dream (lyric video)

actaully ive seen it all 3 ways no space space and hyphenated. still it SHOULD know it regardless, and "correct" to the most common usage(or correct usage, im no english major but still its not the only large word ive run across that i have to spell check with google instead of FF)

She must have been influenced by Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill / Le Tigre.
Bikini Kill was one of the original Riot grrrl bands that influenced people like Courtney Love.
In this song, her singing style from 2:45 on is very similiar to Kathleen Hanna's. You could call it derivative, I suppose, but lots of music is derivative.
The Le Tigre song I think of first when I hear that part of the song is "The Empty," but there might be other Le Tigre or Bikini Kill songs that it sounds more like.

Think of the 'screaming' as what is considered pitch adjustment. Most of this song is well, how do you say. natural... it is in fact, the only song that hits several pitches she can do as an artist. it's not even all of which she can hit either. The screaming kinda grows on you the more you realize her talent and why it's in the song.

Males can be slow too. I understand that misandry is common on EA videos and I have nothing against males so I find it rather annoying sometimes, but you don't have to respond with misogyny. She was going from her experiences. In my experience, the only friends I have that listen to or have even heard of Emilie are males, so it's quite normal for me but for Abnaeashis, it could be unusual.

yeah i think i was around 15 too when i fully figured out just how horrid this world is, damn near killed myself over it. Strange isnt it? never had a suicidal thought until i figured out how horrid homosapien was, and i wanted to end it just so i didnt continue our legacy.
side note how does FF know homosexual but not homosapien as a correct word? world gets dumber and dumber, idocracy gets truer and truer.

It's not supposed to be, especially when it's meant to be anguished screaming, not the style of singing! Hamlet's Ophelia is a woman with great anguish, towards herself, and her husband/lover, Hamlet, hence the strained screaming.
