Muzan killed all of tanjiro's family I think he made neziko into a demon to kill anyone who was out at the time and would come back later (like tanjiro did).
Non manga reader here, that guy in the flashback has red hair and a flame scare. The master just has regular black hair. And he has no flame scare. So not the master. Plus that flashback was seeming accurring a long time ago. And the master is only 20.

At that point it was a spoiler of age issues...you could have said it like this that master figure was shorter than that guy and masters hair is black ....most importantly that guys had earrings...they missed the earrings part...
