I was once using mine to play with a buddy who was using a 20 watt Marshall transistor amp. He actually yelled at me to turn down so he could hear his amp.
I have a '78 Vibro Champ that I forgot all about. Been sitting for at least 20 years in my basement. I got it basically free with a '76 blonde tele back in the 80s Anyway, dusted it off and vacuumed out the bugs, plugged it in and still works like I remember. This thing has never been serviced or any mods. Original tubes even. I also forgot how loud these things get! I ran my waza blues driver pedal and reverb through it and it blew me away. Used it with my PRS and STRAT...sounds great with the strat but even better with the PRS HB. I'm sure if I got it serviced ,it would sound better than it does but probably cost a ton.
I'm a UPS man and I delivered to a pawn shop the other day and they had a 1976 Vibro Champ and dude had it marked for $700 and said he would take $600 for it because he's so desperate to get rid of it. I really wasn't sure if anything post CBS buyout was considered "desirable" or whatever. Yours is in WAY better shape though and was clearly cheaper.
I have two, and I love them. One is modded with an output for an external cabinet. Sounds great either way. I throw a ds-1, or sometimes a rat ahead of it and with a little volume to break it’s great. Shit, it’s even great with no effects but turned up to crunchy, lol. Under rated little amp. Nothing like tubes. 👍🏻🤘🏻
Do you mean the Princeton Reverb reissue. I have one of those And it’s a great little amp. A 10 inch speaker sounds better than an 8 inch... plus you’ve got reverb. If you can find a champ for $500 or less I’d probably recommend it. But if you can find a used PR for just a few hundred more (I paid $700) that’s probably a better route. But the best route is to own both! 🤣
Ive got a mono 15, IMO sounds better than both of my blues jrs. Looking for a smaller amp w good tone. Volume/loudness comparison between your 15 mono & Vibro Jr??
Are these amps too loud for apartment settings? I have a 67 super reverb (way too loud for my apartment) and a princeton reverb clone, which I still only run on about 1.5. Would love to be able to get that edge of break up tone organically but still be apartment friendly. Great video, thanks!
WillyM415 I play mine at about 4 ... it just starting to break up a bit at that point. After 5 on the volume knob it doesn’t get much louder just more overdrive... I think it may be a little too loud for an apartment at that level... but maybe not. My personal opinion is everyone should own a Champ or Vibrochamp... they are just fun little amps! Thanks for watching!
@@PunkRockRog does it sound better with the restoration? I have one that has never had anything done to it and still sounds great. I'm keeping mine, this is an excellent little amp to play on.
Classic Guitar Rock the 10” Jensen Tornado Neo is 97 sensitivity I have a 10” Eminence Redfang at 102.5 sensitivity so the volume would twice as loud with the redfang it is going on in about a week
Excellent video. Thanks! And I couldn't agree more about adding a great reverb to the Vibrochamp. I recently uploaded a video of my 1973 VC and a Dr. Scientist Reverberator....that's a match made in heaven! Based on your guitar strap, you might like it...it's my cover of the song Real Love.

Whenever you want to sell?

$600 for a VC is pretty high. You should be able to find them around $500 if you look around a bit. Thanks for watching!
And now they’re about $800 LOL
I got mine in a trade for a sega master system and two games. Best deal I've ever made
Alpha Omega Creations nice! I’m usually the bonehead on the losing side of trades! Lol! Thanks for watching!

They cost 1,000 dollars at least all day long in Toronto I payed 950 for my 74VB Champ
that is absolute crazy.
I just sold one I got for $10 for $500 ca$h so. Yeah they go for tht but bullshit talks and cash freakin walks
How would this compare to the new Princeton’s? I really like this little champ

Classic Guitar Rock haha yeah I actually found a Princeton reverb with the western cosmetics for 700 and bought it yesterday
I’ve got the chance to get one of these! They’re asking me to make them a offer what do you think I should offer £?

Sounds great, mine has a Jensen special design speaker.
Thanks for watching!
I have a chance to get a VC for $450 cash, but I’m hesitant bc I could get a Swart Space tone reverb for $1000. I like amps.
$450 for a VC is a good deal.... use the force to decide! 🖖
@@ClassicGuitarRockJFL thanks!!

I've had one for years. It's a great apartment amp. Buuuuuuut not after 10pm. Great amp with any guitar. I'll never get rid of this thing!!
I just got this same amp for $10 yesterday - took it in to the local music store for a lite resto
It even turned on and worked. Meth heads have brought me this for $10 Amd a mahogany Washburn for $31 / I’ve cleaned up. Meths a Hell-of-a-drug.
If this is True and it seems to be I just hit pay dirt again. I hit it on the Washburn.
It says “Thts why Professional’s Flock to this particular Amp”….
What Wld y’all do when I get this amp back from the complete restoration….?!? Keep it & enjoy it or sell it & make an enormous profit….?! Anyone….?!

I put a 10” Jensen Tornado Neo in my 1966 Fender Vibro Champ and it sounds way better
the difference between an 8" and 10" is pretty significant. Thanks for watching Dale!

Did you install an external speaker jack or did I miss something? Thought about doing this mod with mine.
Nice little amp I know your enjoying it \m/
Hi Bobby! Yes, I love this little guy! Thanks for watching sir!
Effect on a Vibra Champ is Tremelo. It's basically a miniature Princeton.
Yep
Love that palm muted breakup sound.
Jessies Girl!
Thanks for watching! To me that's the beauty of a good tube amp... that warm, slightly crunchy sound that you just can't get with a pedal.
Tht is good
Sick tone!

I've heard good things about the Dr. Scientist. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Looking forward to the head-to-head with the Monoprice amp.
More playing less talking
You don't get this channel LOL..... thanks for watching though!
