Believe me, if y'all love this series, the original Colombian telenovela "Betty la Fea" will be the cream of the cream for you. That series is, to this day, the best I've ever seen, 100% recommended.
That one is perhaps one of the most famous telenovelas of all time.
betty la fea is always trending on latin netfix
I watched it with my grandma, she watched soap operas lol.
@@himarihina betty la fea* el is masculine, la is femenine (fea vs feo)
I came to say this. The original is soo iconic.
The thing about Ugly Betty is that it was set at the time where being nerdy and looking nerdy is like the biggest crime ever.
Now it's a whole different story.
It's just wild.
More importantly she’s working in the fashion industry and if you think high fashion won’t still judge you for your looks, your dead wrong. It’s unfortunate but true
.
@@amayadomani2383 Fashion industry in it of itself is always going to be judgmental to the core and will not change anytime soon.
Fashion and beauty culture are some of the most toxic environment to ever exist which is ironic since they basically supposed to represent what's beautiful yet it is so ugly and they don't even realize it.
How did she look nerdy??
My style was pajamas.
when i saw this i literally screamed out loud, Ugly Betty is my favorite show of all time. this show impacted me so deeply as a child who in middle school was often cast aside as the "ugly duckling". watching this show and seeing Betty's resilience and kindness played a huge roll in shaping me to become who i am now. as the show progresses she stays true to herself and her beauty shines through her heart. 10/10
Have you seen superstore as well.
omg same! I was finishing up high school and entering college at the time. def deeply impacted my sense of self. let's be friends!!
You should see the original ver “Betty la fea” it’s SO GOOD
I still remember how my own mom called me ugly duckling when I was 14. It’s been almost 12 years and for some reason it still hurts :(
It’s been years and the Santos episode is still a punch to the gut.
I was bawling
Nah the episode that made me cry the most was when Alexis leaves in s3. I rlly loved her character…I wasn’t expecting her to leave so abruptly 🥲
I didn’t like him until he dies
@@splendisdudeLMAO
I didn’t care for him either, but the characters in the show did. And the way the writers and actors portrayed that grief was so gut-wrenching. I had a knot in my throat for sure at the end of that episode!
I never actually found Betty to be all that "ugly", especially considering that America Ferrera is gorgeous in real life. Still, she was probably meant to be plain in comparison to the glamorous people at Mode.
I feel that the show was also trying to say that even people who aren't ugly will be treated a such if everyone is held to the standard that these beauty instructions present.
It was moreso her fashion sense that was mocked in the show because your right she wasn't really ugly, she was actually pretty cute especially in the last season
I love everything in this thread. Stay beautiful, people. ✌🏽
Hollywood homely trope. Also I believe the original concept from the Spanish series shows the character slowly becoming pretty along with their growth each season till the end.
The thing is, back in the 2000s, looking nerdy and having glasses and braces, etc. are see as the biggest crime in the world.
I for one went through that.
Now, fortunately, everybody has grown out of it and matured and all the nerdy stuff are so modernized that it would be a little weird if you don't know or have anything that's nerdy related.
Fun fact: Despite the show being set in New York and its pilot being filmed there, the first and second seasons were filmed entirely in Los Angeles. Stock footage was used to establish that the show is set in New York. At the beginning of the third season the show relocated back to New York.
That's fascinating, I never knew that it was mostly filmed in Los Angeles. Thanks for filling us in!
That's actually really common. Seinfeld and friends were short entirely in Los Angeles
Does that mean they moved all the sets they used across country??? That sounds expensive! 😮
Didn't know this but I'm glad that I do now 😃
same with Friends
This was the best show. The drama. The romance. The ending where they teased that Daniel and Betty will finally be together. Ughh I miss it
Same :(( I really wish they could make a season 5 or a spin-off or something. Wilhelmina was my queen 😔✊

This is one of the most perfectly-casted shows I’ve ever watched, and I cannot stress enough how much of a game changer it was that Vanessa “Triple Threat” Williams was casted as Wilhelmina Slater. To think it almost didn’t happen.
hey, sorry but i love ugly betty and wilhelminas character so much and im really curious about your comment! what do you mean when you said that the actress almost didnt play this character?
she talks about it in her Glamour best looks interview @@susanna4250
@@susanna4250Vanessa Williams said that she recorded the pilot episode thinking the show would never get picked up because it was so different. Her father had recently died and she wanted to spend time with her family, so they casted someone else. But the producers felt like it wasn't really working out, so they asked her again to play Wilhelmina and luckily she accepted 😁
Fun Fact: The original Ugly Betty was made in Colombia and was called “Yo soy Betty, la fea” and from there got remade by a dozen different countries, like Mexico and the US. They still rerun the whole series every single year in Colombia because it was that successful and they actually make a gorgeous woman look “ugly”. It doesn’t get enough credit in my personal opinion, because it is sooo good from start to finish yet people praise all the copycats and never mention the OG. You should look up if they have one with English subtitles and then make a video of it.
Yes!! So good
Omg I remember watching Yo soy Betty, la fea with my grandmother when I was a kid before I even knew what Ugly Betty was lol
I'd love to see Alex react to the original 😹
Ughh yess ur so right it doesn’t get the praise it deserves ,does anybody know where to watch it with english subtitles? the original i mean
Si, si es colombiana
Even wit the glasses and the braces, the only "ugly" thing about Betty was her horrible fashion sense. That alone should've kept her from being hired in a fashion magazine company.
I liked her glasses who wants to look like the rest of the crowd I can wear glasses like that blue ones Thunderbird style
I think the 'ugly' part was simply how those glitzy and often fake people in the fashion industry perceived her.
her fashion sense started getting better and it became so cute at one point in the show
Your not wrong her fashion sense is hot garbage
I personally loved Betty’s fashion sense! The use of clashing patterns & colours actually looked pretty chic and has aged really well.
Her look was a combination of Latin colouring & patterns mixed with European fashion style silhouettes with a bit of “poor” Queens mixed in. Representing her heritage and her adaption into white America.
Betty did not come from a background of privilege. The entire story is about her adapting and trying to climb up the ladder, and Patricia Fields represented that point though her costuming.
Fun fact, Betty and Wilhelmina were both styled to look like polar opposites of the same coin. Both started as ugly assistants, both struggled up the corporate ladder as POC and the only difference between the two is one was at the top of the ladder and the other was at the bottom. Their fashion styles both shared ethnic patterns with European silhouettes. Although with Wilhelmina less so to represent that she “integrated” into the European beauty standards (which were standard at that time). There was even an episode dedicated to this subject where Betty dreams that she has turned into Wilhelmina.
My favourite Mark and Amanda conversation.
Mark: you know those actors that you know their faces but not their names?
Amanda: yeah like what's her face
Mark: and that guy!!!
I laughed for years over this!!!!
It reminds me of something BTS Jungkook once said:
Interviewer: "Who is your Hollywood crush?"
Jungkook: "I know her face but I don't know her name."
Interviewer:"What movie?, What movie?"
Jungkook:"I know movie but I don't know movie name."
All the members laughing
Mark: It's funny, like when Britney shaved her head.
Amanda: That was funny, but then it got sad.
Mark: But then it got funny again.
Or when Mark called Lindsay Lohan an "Inky-brinky tart" to her face, they were so delightfully mean.
@@ag9953and then she was in the show 😂
The original Colombia soap opera "Betty La Fea" is truly a masterpiece.
Also, Jane the Virgin comes from a Venezuelan soap opera called "Juana La Virgen." Also a good one.
Ok pero aquí se está hablando de Ugly Betty que es muy diferente a la original Colombiana y solo tomó prestado al personaje en sí

*Everyone:* “Ah, I see youʼre a man of culture.”
Ditto, I loved this show growing up, and I'm glad that Alex feels the same way!
Yep, that was my reaction
It's one of the best shows ever and so underrated
Actually The original Ugly Betty, “Betty la fea” is always on the top ten in Netflix’s South America
omg i loved that show as a child
Oh yeah, Betty la fea was great, very funny and great to this day
Yep, it always is in the top ten here in Honduras
even funnier you always ask if someone watches betty la fea and nobody say that they do.
Ah! Such a classic of my childhood. I also have a soft spot for the Mexican version, La Fea Más Bella. Yes, there are 2 Spanish versions of Ugly Betty.
I love how Betty grew over time. I love that her growth came from being out of her comfort zone.
Ugly Betty was so ahead of its time tbh. I'm surprised it's not as popular as other 2000s shows like Gossip Girl and Gilmore Girls amongst younger girls/women. Betty was incredibly ambitious, smart, and hardworking! Maybe its because she's not a skinny white girl lol but whatever. I feel like this show is both shows at the same time with a poc lead. I also love that she doesn't end up with Daniel like in the Mexican and Colombian version. Instead, she has like 3 different love interests! It was so good!!!!
It's heavily implied she gets with Daniel in the end.
It leaves it up in the air but it still leans towards Daniel but tbh I'm okay with that. The way this show progressed was less about "will they won't they" and more letting them develop as individuals, and letting their chemistry speak for itself rather than relying on tropes. They were having their individual relationships all the way to the last few episodes.
I think I've seen about.. 3 versions.. The original, our country's version, and then Betty in NY. The lead guy isn't the best, but I don't know why I keep rooting for him in some small way somehow. Is it because of how hard he fell for Betty afterwards? I don't know. I think I'll start watching this one. 😊
I was literally just thinking this as I was watching. I couldn’t believe the show started in 2006. Even just the way it tackles transphobia and other issues that shows of the 2000s usually would shy away from.
you didn't see the colombian one, she ends up with Armando, did they change the names of the "boss" on the other versions? Cause in Colombia Daniel Valencia is the very VERY mean one
If anyone else played Wilhelmina, she wouldn’t be nearly as lovable or charismatic. She’s one of those characters that has to be played a certain way or else it fails. Vanessa William is an icon! ❤️
I hated that Wilhelmina got the ceo job at the end though! It wasnt fair! Lol
@@NIKUK84 That’s cool. I wish we would’ve seen how she changed Mode and how Marc was doing.
@@NIKUK84 It was very fair…. She worked her whole life at the company and the only reason she wasn’t editor in chief is because Daniel was the boss’ kid
@@arianna5270 she did alot of cunning stuff though... manipulated loads of people, bribed etc... no denying she was the best at the job.. i just didnt like the idea of a villian winning in the end.. like its not ok to throw people under the bus so you get up the ladder.
However this was just a drama, i shouldnt be getting so hung up on it lol
@@NIKUK84 I get that but I think part of it is that she only did all that messed up stuff because she was initially not given the job she earned and over the course of the show she becomes a better person. Like Daniel kinda sucked too.
Fun fact: Ugly Betty has has been remade 19 times in different countries, and has at least one adaptation in each continent except for Australia and Antarctica. What I grew up on was the Filipino one. "I love Betty La Fea"
And it all surged from the original Colombian version called, "Betty la Fea" which came out in the early 2000s, and is still as iconic as ever, people still remember it fondly
actually, it wasn't ugly betty the one that has been remade 19 times, it was betty la fea. Ugly betty is just one more adaptation
Do we have it in Hindu because I'd watch it

I started watching ugly betty last week. I'm on season two now and I love it! I just watched the first episode the other day and the scene where Hilda hugs the pillow in the dark just broke my heart. I can feel the sadness through the transition from a bright, happy, scene with Santos to a dark, sad scene in her bedroom. Anyway, I'm hooked on this show!
I started reading (and then writing) fanfiction for Ugly Betty a year after the show ended because I missed it so much and now I'm one of the few writers who still write once in a while! It helped me heal when my mom, my husband of 18 years, and my brother all died within 3 years. I absolutely LOVE all the characters on this show! The writing, the acting, the guest stars, and the change between campy telenovela style comedy and melodramatic to real, honest issues! Justin's coming-out story was handled SO well! I miss it! It broke my heart when I heard about Silvio Horta!
that scene DESTROYED me
You're in for a treat. The show ends as well as it starts!
Omg that's the one scene of television that I absolutely, reliably, 100% of the time cannot watch without genyinely crying. It's so well done. The portrayal of someone who has been in denial finally accepting the truth. SOBBING everytime.
The original telenovela is called "Betty la fea" and even nowadays you can still see some episodes on Colombian tv, this show got remade like a thousand times and I think that's beautiful hahah

honestly i find betty's image more appealing than any character meant to be attractive. the big wide smile is so charming to me
I agree. the fact that all the people at Mode consider her unfashionable is rlly ironic to me. I mean they’re all wearing rlly ugly outfits…Marc ridicules Betty constantly about her ‘bad’ fashion choices even tho he looks like a clown in a suit the majority of the time. Wilhelmina’s outfits are so basic yet she claims to be the ‘goddess’ of fashion…like girl you’re just wearing a black dress and heels. Nothing special about that. Betty did make some weird fashion choices at the beginning of the show but her outfits got more unique as the show went on. She looked more fashionable than any other character imo
She has such a warmth to her character.

Because this kind of diversity was natural. Today feels like a pill you must be swallowing.
The issue is, that a lot of today’s diversity isn’t as natural as it was back then. I don’t mean the representation no. That Alexis was trans wasn’t her whole personality, it wasn’t mocked like these Dylan Girls.
I believe, if the shows would focus more on the story rather than on political internet correctness, they would be amazing shows yet to come
I live for ugly betty, one of the first shows if not the actual first show i watched that had gay characters that were campy but also had good storylines, like mark and justin. as a queer person living in a "no-gay-alowed" country, shows like Ugly betty and Glee hold a place dear in my heart, despite how corny and cringy they can be at times, I still watch em once a year, because I get genuine nostalgia from them. loved the video, thanks for un-earthing this gem for people who haven't watched it yet ! u get a subscribe and a like from me!

I literally just finished rewatching ugly betty! sooo underrated!
I could never watch this show growing up because it stressed me out that they called someone I thought looked fine "ugly", and it made me feel ugly, too 😅
Same!! Labels like that exacerbate my insecurities! I don’t believe in calling anyone ugly; I think doing so perpetuates arbitrary beauty standards that make people feel bad about themselves. We shouldn’t be made to feel ashamed of the bodies we were born with. Everyone is equally valuable and looks perfect the way they are (whether or not they fit some societal standard) 🙏🏾😊
I think in the original Colombian novela, they chose to emphasize that the main character was ugly, cuz at least in Latin America, the female protagonist is ALWAYS gorgeous! Didn't matter if she was boring af, she had to be the prettiest woman in the room and everything else revolved around her gorgeousness. My point is that we never saw something REAL. 🙄. I remember commercials promoting "Betty la fea" back in 2000 and I was like "I HAVE TO SEE THAT" so it was called ugly for that intention, they promised us an ounce of reality and we took it and made it the most watched novela of all time. Maybe they just used that name in the U.S. version as an homage to the original? Not sure 😅
Ugly is subjective. It wasn't that Betty was ugly. It was that she wasn't the standard for beauty. Plus she worked in fashion where appearance is everything and she just didn't fit in.
@@Jasmine-gk4re that was kinda the point of the show

@@inzohector2035 Ehh. I probably notice a couple of more dumb moments in the later seasons, but 3&4 never stuck out as a major dip in quality that made me want to ditch the show. As someone who got into the show over the past 1-2 years, I see no reason why someone should skip the last 2 seasons.
because the original is better
Alex: Gives a show a better review than “pretty great”.
Me: 👁👄👁
The funny thing is in the original Betty la fea Betty and her friends weren't actually ugly they just had a different socioeconomic status than the rest of the people on the show. I think the original show runners were trying to imply that being beautiful is not only how you look but how much money you have. Like one of Betty's friends was constantly getting hit on but she was cast in the "ugly barracks" (cuartel de las feas) because she came from a humble background

Literally started rewatching this on Disney+ last week; half way through Season 2 and loving it! I remember as a teenager waiting for Friday nights, when I'd sit down with my mum and watch each episode as it came out! Season 1's ending and transition into Season 2 was heartbreaking!
I never would’ve expected Alex to make a video on Ugly Betty, but I’m so glad to see it! I watched it a few years ago when a friend recommended to me, and it’s such an amazing show! The ending made me tear up because I was so attached to all the characters haha
I COULD NEVER FORGET “UGLY” ( cuz she’s, in my opinion is absolutely stunning with just so many beauty standards surrounding her) BETTY
She’s the most pedestrian looking Latina….
i used to watch it way back while it was airing and ended up rewatching it last year for fun since i remember it being good, cozy vibes. oh my god, i was floored by how perfect it still is!! it has so much heart and i think that’s what i resonated with the most. and they achieved such a campy vibe at the same time without it being cringe inducing, i thoroughly enjoyed every single episode and all the shenanigans the characters would go through. such a gem in the world of television, gonna have to rewatch it again soon!
2:52 I can't believe Screen Rant actually published that article
The main character is that plays Betty is from a really good show called SuperStore! Garrett is my favorite character in that show!
Superstore is one of my favourite sitcoms, I used to love Garrett but I still can't forgive him for the stuff he did to Dina. My personal fave is Sandra
this show makes me laugh nonstop and i just love the development of Betty, Amanda anda Mark Dynamic sinceseason one until last season when they like have each other's back loool
This just appeared in my feed so I feel I'm late to the party but I still wanna comment this. I'm from Colombia, where the OG Ugly Betty was made, we call the show "Yo soy Betty la fea" (Translates literally to "I am betty the ugly"). Here in Colombia it is part of our modern cultural identity as it is one of, if not the most, recognizable soap opera (Telenovelas for us) in Colombian history. And I know Ugly Betty has some changes and isn't 1:1 the original. But I'm just happy to know that, for a time, people in the US (like in other parts of the world) enjoyed a story that connected so much with the Colombian people.
Fun fact: "Yo soy Betty, La fea" won the guiness world record of most successful soap opera in 2010 and there are at least 20 different alternate versions, one of them being Ugly Betty.
I loved how Alexis, the trans character, wasn't treated as a walking punchline, with her gender and pronouns being respected by her family and friends. If it were made today, she'd probably be played by an actress who was actually Trans.
they use the characters gender for an interesting plot twist during the beginning season 1 or 2 roughly i think but its really telling how characters like these can do it right while we get tons and tons that just exist for the sake of getting brownie points or try come off as gross as possible
The fact this was in the mid 2000s too made it way ahead of its time.
Fun Fact she was the first wife of John Stamos
Ummm did we watch the same show? That’s all they did season one. It got better in later seasons but season one after her reveal was hard to watch.
@@opaluci9761 yeah I was confused. Alexis’ characterization and the way others talk about her is the worst part of the show.
I was too young when i started watching this show but I ADORED it. Got my first pair of glasses in red, too, because I wanted glasses like Betty's.
I truly believe if the American version of Ugly Betty followed the plot of the original Colombian version (which is considered the greatest soap opera all over the world) they stayed with the original plot, like almost all other countries did. The show wouldn't have been canceled.
how did the plot change? i have never heard of this before and just watched Ugly Betty for the first time ever this year
@@Brando550 In the original plot ( Colombian version) Betty had feelings for the president Ecomoda. Also the plot is different for other things. I 100% recommend for you to watch the original Ugly Betty
@@EinEd2023 where can I watch the original
@@mteyytt Netflix? I think
I prefer it the way they did it, I don't need another version of the same exact story.
Also, the telenovela did get cancelled, which is why they rushed the ending and left so many plot threads unresolved like Ines' husband and Aura Maria and Freddy's relationship.
I tuned in to Ugly Betty when it was airing in 2006. I was 6 years old at the time and that tv show really meant everything to me. It’s my ultimate comfort show when things get bad❤️
The early 2000's standards for beauty were really screwed up. I wouldn't actually call Betty ugly in reality.
At the end, beauty is subjective.
beauty standards will always be "screwed up" no matter what time period
@@justsomegirlwithoutamustache True, but as a former beauty pageant girl, the early 2000's had me in an eating disorder at the age of 6 and adults suggesting plastic surgery on my face.
Well the actress playing Betty isn't even ugly, she was just made to look ugly bcs of her fashion sense lol
I still see it today. Someone slaps some glasses on and suddenly they're "ugly" or "plain" like what??
The 8 different play buttons joke really had me wheezing for 3 minutes
Ugly Betty was AWESOME!! The twists were great, the villains had real motivations, and no one was as good or bad as anyone thought. The writing was excellent and the acting was superb!! It was a true gem of a series.
Besides the acting and overall story line , two things that drew me to this series were the fact that it was a very visually appealing show ( the colors , the set , camera work etc. ) and the music .
Alex is so cute when he is talking about a show he is passionate about 😭😭💗
I'll never forget this show. My great grandfather would always watch this show. It was one of the few things he always looked forward to. This, the newspaper, Wheel of Fortune, lunch, and dinner. He's been gone for over a decade now. Thanks for bringing back some good memories of him.
Amanda and Marc are amazing. The comedic timing on this show is hilarious!
Wilhelmina: And that blouse is heaven. Where did you get it? I love it.
Betty: Okay, no you don't.
Wilhelmina: No, I don't. It's hideous, like driving through Ohio.
As long as you don't look into the logic AT ALL, it's a rather entertaining show
I think once Alexis and Daniel had a paintball match to decide the CEO, I realised this show is just simply insane. I f***ing love it tho
It's based on a telenovela, I doubt anyone expected gritty realism.
Finally, Alex likes a show.
I am so glad it is this one. It is super underrated and hysterical. The family and friend dynamics are amazing.
The arcs are decently done.
If he is being sarcastic, I still stand by what I said.
He's liked 5 shows, this is the 5th
@@larrie9491 what were the other 4.
I am still new to his channel and the ones O saw so far are this is dumb, weird or whatever.
I am unsure if I saw the ones he liked. Good to know he liked four others.
@@gabrielleduplessis7388 whenever the title says “weird” instead of “dumb” that means he likes it more. And there are a couple videos titled “really good” or something like that
@@victoriaodegaard1 wow. I take the titles way too literally and honestly, after all the Riverdale videos, where he is dying on the inside, i believed most of them were the ones he hates.
I guess I was excited to see “like” in the title card after a while, I guess.
At least there is a balance.
I am so happy you covered this show! I love this show. It holds a special place in my heart and I'm glad its one of the ones you like!
I rewatched the entire series recently and just fell back in love with it! Definitely agree with you!!!!
For no reason, I started to watch this show a week ago through one of those shady sites with 8 players full of advertisement. Now Alex drops this video.
i verbally screamed when i saw this post because i adore ugly betty and i wasn’t expecting you to do a video on it, ever.
I watched "Betty la fea" (the original Colombian novela) back in 2000 and rewatched it recently (cuz its so good) and I just finished watching all seasons of "Ugly Betty"...I love that they are both amazing and both have their unique stories and takes on Betty, BUT (and I know my Latino family would kill me if they read this) I kinda love "Ugly Betty" more ❤️ Betty from Colombia did so many crazy things for her boss, kinda like "Marc and wilhelmina" dynamic but less fun/dangerous and more disturbing since Betty slept with her boss knowing he was engaged and loved to cheat on his gf with every model he encountered. Beatriz had no self esteem, and even when she managed to heal, She married her boss anyways, stayed in the company (as the president along her ex boss/ now husband) but she never really did anything to leave the toxic environment even though many things presented her way, she had a shy personality and I get why it was harder for her to move forward, but still..at the end I can't say she inspired me in any way, maybe to prepare myself academically? Lol there is a second novela (Ecomoda) where she shows thay she doesnt trust her husband even though he changed and was faithful, they tried to milk the cow but I never really finished "Ecomoda" cuz it was more of the same. NOW! U.S.A. Betty took chances from the very beginning, she was younger and less qualified than Colombian Betty, but she learned as she went and we all saw her evolve and overcome every obstacle, she was a ray of sunshine 🌞 Betty knew she wasn't a super model, but that didn't stop guys from falling for her personality, silliness and cute braces. She had a true friendship with her boss and that's what made him fall for her at the end. We saw her change from ugly (even though she was still cute imo) to pretty in a very organic way, unlike the Colombian novela that her change was the entire highlight of the episode. Betty taught me that we can overcome anything if we just keep pushing and don't give up, she LITERALLY did her best until the end. I must say both versions NAILED IT for their target audiences and I am very happy I got to enjoy both (but Ugly Betty is still my boo lol)
I completely agree with you!!!
I watched this after seeing this title and now I'm back here to watch this video cuz I just finished it. I WANNA CRYYY I want more of it!! I have never loved a show this much ever!!! I'm so glad I found this show!
My favorite scene in the show is near the very end when Betty need Daniel to sign something for another job she wants and when she comes to get it he sets it on fire and throws it in the trash 😂
You should watch the original colombian version, it was such a cultural reset in latin america and never leaves the netflix top 10 in almost every latinamerican country, it has a version in several countries in the world and many scenes and lines are now a meme for younger generations even after two decades
Yes Ugly Betty needs to be talked about more! One of my favorite comfort shows
I remember watching the first season of this on an actual portable dvd player. Also she looked great in the test shoot!
This is crazy, I just finished watching this show for the first tme about two weeks ago. I loved it the whole way through, Marc was my fave character, he had great chemistry with everyone he shared the screen with especially Amanda and Wilhemina. Wilhemina is definetely one of the best TV villains ever, her zeal is so unmatched. We'll probably never see another show like this ever again
RIGHTT
Alex finally acknowledging the existence of b99 and saying it’s a masterpiece made my day 😭
Alex, thank you so much for this. This show is flawless and sadly ended too soon. Its creator also died way too soon, unfortunately. He will always be remembered.
We need a show of just Mark and Amanda
there is one called mode after hours.
Fun fact: this show is actually based off the hit latino telenovela by the same name “Betty la fea” (ugly betty)
the no at 8:46 is adorable lmao
YES!!!!! Thank you so much for this video! I have always loved *Ugly Betty;* mainly because I have been a super fan of Vanessa L. Williams since 1984. Too many people refuse to give this brilliant show its proper respect. I'm so thankful I found your channel! 🤗
As someone in asia, I've watched three versions. Original Colombian one, US one and our local version (PH). Nothing beats the original.
Honestly this review makes me want to start seeing Ugly Betty, I'd heard of the OG Colombian one but this versions Betty is genuinely so charismatic that I can't help but want to watch her overcome challenges :D Thanks for making a video on this dude!!
The original is the same! you really root for betty and the characters
You’d be doin yourself a disservice to not watch the original
OK I've never watched this show before but just from these clips the acting and script seem phenomenal, extremely natural sounding
You should totally watch it. 10/10 💃🏽
It’s a timeless series. Please watch it!
I never get tired of watching this master piece. I just love it and I hoped there were other seasons. Thanks for this epsiode
They ended the series before Betty and Daniel can move up their relationship to the next level made me upset, since I've watched the original telenovela and knew how it ended. Still waiting for their happy ending though.
they weren't meant to have a romantic relationship here. this is an adaptation, it doesn't have to be the same as the original. they don't have romantic interest in each other for 99.999% of the show except for one second in the end that's one sided from daniel. and thank god for that, bc straight romances and pining as so so tired, it was great that on this show they had a good platonic professional relationship instead, much more interesting and less predictable
Happy ending? The guy in the original is a douche bag, he only got with her because she looked better and had more money
