Thx mate. I’ve got them sync’d and it’s working great. Also wondering, can I record loop audio directly to ableton? Or do I need to store on the looper and then grab the WAV files and add them to ableton?
Depends on what you have available. If you can plug your output directly into an audio interface then you can just loop in Ableton and you don’t really need the looper hardware. Otherwise you’re looking at storing on the looper and grabbing the WAV files. In either situation you’re also going to need an IR loader plug-in so that the signal sounds like it has gone through a guitar cabinet and mic. Without an IR it’s very harsh.
Right now I’m playing the drum track in ableton and my guitar through my amp. The ditto connected to a Focus rite with a midi cable so that my loops are sync’d. it sounds like I’ll have to plug the output into the focusrite rather than my amp to record audio directly to ableton. I just prefer using the ditto vs ableton to loop bc I’m more familiar with it. Anyway the syncing is clutch bc I was using UA-cam drum tracks before and it was getting out of sync
Hi thanks for your video! I assume your daw is master clock in this video and lopper the slave. What about the looper is the master, and set the bpm to the daw when the loop is done. Is that possible? I know Ableton looper plugin does that.
I need to sync my drum machine to my looper, what do I need to do!? I apologize beforehand if this question is out of line. If not please, if you know how to do it!? 🙏🏻🤙🏼😊
Depends on the drum machine and the looper! Do they have MIDI options? If so the best way is gonna be to plug the MIDI out on the drum machine to the MIDI in on the looper, set them to the same channel, and enable clock sync
How do you make you abelton clips synce to a certain amount of bars? I have the looper working but my clips aren't as tight as they should be from my midi synth
Couple different options. If you have a Push or a Launchpad Pro there is an easy to use “fixed length” option for whenever you hit the record button. That’s what I tend to use. Second option is to use the looper device within Ableton. It allows you to specify a fixed number of bars once triggered, and then to assign a follow action (stop, play, overdub) afterward. If you don’t have one of those devices and want to record straight to clips rather than using the looper I’d recommend installing ClyphX (I mean I’d recommend installing it period, it is an extremely useful script). Once you get it installed and working, the command you’re looking for is “SRECFIX”. So for instance if I wanted a 4 bar recording I’d use the clip code “SRECFIX4”. Then when you launch that clip it will record for a fixed 4 bars.
@Keenan Crow thank you! I figured since push had been out that abelton would have had the same feature. I will try to software first. I would like the push but don't feel like dropping so much for one yet
@@zhoustonh1 yeah totally fair. Master the tools you already have before getting new stuff! ClyphX is free so that’s worth checking out regardless I will say, though, I have an old Push 1. That is plenty good enough for me 99% of the time, and it’s about half the cost of a Push 2.
I did everything you did and for some reason I can't get my ditto x4 to blink with the metronome. Ableton didn't work and I even tried syncing it to Logic and still nothing. Any tips on what the issue might be? The pedal seems to be working completely fine otherwise
Windows or Mac? What are you using for a MIDI interface? Is there anything between your interface and the Ditto X4? Which version of the firmware is installed on the X4?
@@KeenanCrow Im on a Mac. For my interface Im using a "mio iConnectivity." Picked it up at GuitarCenter this morning. The only thing between my laptop and the x4 is my USB C to USB coming from my Mac.
Great info!!
thanks

Yeah if you have a looper that sends a clock signal you could do that, but I’m unaware of any loopers that do so. Eventide H9 might.

@Keenan Crow also the abletondrummer has a fixed clip length that works super easy.

I just got the pedal today, i was unaware of this firmware thing. Should I try and update it to the newest version?
Also the Interface is being read by both ableton and logic, i can select it to sync for both Daws but when i click play the x4 just doesn't blink
Try a firmware update. The original firmware didn’t have MIDI sync capabilities
