As an aside, I came across an old letter to airmen regarding that mouthful where they say “Pilots who are familiar with the procedure or those that do not have any questions about the procedure may refrain from a verbatim read back.” So, apparently you can just say wilco vfr to ifr procedure. Untested for now, however.
Do they not tell you the spelling for the fixes because you’re a local or do they actually just leave it out? I can’t imagine trying to figure out how to shorthand Salinas if I didn’t know it was SNS
they will tell you if you ask, but I think there's an expectation you've done your homework by looking at charts, getting your expected / common clearance from Foreflight, etc.

I have seen that LTA, but every time I try to not read back the full clearance they make me read it all back...
