    I received mine in October 2020. Set it up and ran break-in. It hit the overheat shut off in approximately 8.5 minutes... overheating. I ended up fishing the water pump out of the tank and noted the "generic" pump, which would probably be more suited to an aquarium, had a sliding flow limiter. It was fully CLOSED! I opened it fully and restarted the break-in procedure. The cooling system seemed to be fine. Topped off my air tank from 3900 psi to 4500 psi. That was my first use. In December 2020, using it for the second time, I topped off my air tank and two rifles. I noticed during the air tank fill that the engine would, for lack of a better description, hiccup intermittently. I finished and bled the air noticing it blew out a black oily goo as it bled off the air. That's a problem. I started checking for obvious signs of problems and noted the black plastic air intake cover on the piston was not fully seated and the plastic stem into the cylinder has warped from the heat. Since I only used this unit two times, I contacted Pyramid Air (with pictures) and they sent me a return label for a refund or replacement. I'm still debating which to take. PS: Like the man said, if you're going to buy one of these expensive units, be sure to keep the BOX.

    I was considering the Air Venturi but decided on the Omega and 6 months later still no problems. The Omega may be slower but it is quieter and suits my needs. I have also bought a Carette from Joe Brancato but I have not used it as the power supply in South Africa is not the same as what is required (SA - 220v 50Hz, caret needs 110v 60Hz - The Hz is just as important as the voltage for these compressors otherwise it trips on power overload.) I will be using synthetic oil in the Carette although the Omega only uses a grease that is supplied with the compressor. I hope you do not have any further issues and enjoy many years of hassle free refills.

    Air venturi now has their own oil for this compressor. It says right on the bottle that it is ISO-100 non-detergent mineral oil based synthetic blend compressor oil. It also says the use of other oils such as 10w30 can cause carbon build up, shortening compressor life.

    i highly recommend contacting amsoil tell them what you have. they will hook you up with the right oil Based on Application,type of oiling system and climate.i live in florida it gets pretty hot and humid. ive been using amsoil high zinc Full synthetic straight 30 weight in the same oil sling type compressor and had it for a few years now with no issues whatsoever. I used 10/30 conventional oil on break in but it was 90° out. you will need to use something thinner during the winter for Break in during that Break in time. I made sure I babysat the compressor making sure it didn’t get too hot or past 180 Fahrenheit using a temp Gun for about 10 hrs runtime then went with the high zinc amsoil 30 wt. the zinc will provide more cushion in the bottom end bearings especially under extreme load/heat change the oil frequently as soon as I see the metallic flakes in the oil it gets dumped. let’s face it they’re cheaper compressors with zero Oil filtration so frequent oil changes Will be just a fact of life. just gotta keep an eye on your Oil cleanliness and compressor temp. If you can get away with it run the Compressor indoors in the air conditioning during the summer it will run cooler and you’ll get less water.

    Glad to see you got your replacement compressor Ced !!! I also subscribed to your channel as well because I honestly wasn't aware that you're not posting on GTA anymore. Here in Michigan I can buy 5W-40W synth at about any place I choose. Being the synthetic is slipperier than the petroleum oil I'd almost bet it HAS to be better. That was indeed a quick first fill you got with it too, a heck of a lot quicker than my F10 Shoebox ! I'm sure that I don't put near as many rounds through my PCP's as you do so I'm thinking it will be just fine for my needs. I was really impressed with Southern Gunner's update on his Omega, it's an impressive compressor for sure.

    Ced, I just had a conversation with a fellow who is dealing with Airventuri, and he stated that the first versions had no bearing. They added a bushing later, but didn't specify its type. They are now providing them with a bronze bearing, (bushing) installed.
    With your replacement being so new, it may very well have the new bushing. ;

    I bought the $600 Air Venturi Nomad II 4500 psi portable unit. It uses 3 drops of silicon oil every 5 fills. My first one worked fine for about 30 fills then quit pressurizing, I called the in the manual, the nice woman that answered emailed a return label so shipping the unit back was paid for by Air Venturi I kept the box so I returned in the original crate. I do not know what was wrong with it, it was repaired and I received the same unit 2 weeks after I sent it to them. So far it is still working fine.

    One of the issues is the counterbalance weight that connects to the crankshaft there's a groove for the fastener to go in to hold it tight or in place upon assembly that groove wasn't lined up with the fastener. Which is causing several problems one of which the cracking of the crankcase. Which just happened to me coincidentally and upon inspection I could see damage to the shaft from the misalignment of the fastener.

    I just got my compressor and a friend of mine is going on about a year with his. We are both using anti freeze / water in our cooling tanks . My temps went way down when I cut the water in with the concentrated anti-freeze . I'm talking sub 50% Celsius temps at the end of a tank fill. Was using a full synthetic 5w 40 oil from jump street. As always, keep fingers crossed and prayers up for the safety of all our equipment. Keep communication lines open .

    Great info for anyone whose may be purchasing one of these . I’m not sure where air Venturi is made , but it looks like most of the components are the exact same as the China brands I see on AliExpress? Personally I have the yongheng compressor and only faults I’ve had with it is the damn relay switch for when it shuts off at desired pressure burning out . Luckily replacements are cheap and they’ve upgrade the amperage. Without a compressor I’m sure most of us wouldn’t enjoy pcp air rifles as much . It’s great you received a brand new one though ! Your probably right about the oil and going synthetic. With mine I change the oil very frequently as soon as I see a slight discolouration. So far good luck . Excellent info Video 👍

    I just purchased and used for the first time today the air venturi nomad 2 portable compressor. The manual states only use Silicone Oil 2 to 3 drops before each fill. This compressor does not have an oil reservoir. This compressor is only to be used to fill the pellet gun directly which is what I did. The compressor stopped working after filling to only 140 bars out of a 200 bar fill. I believe the piston froze up in the compressor because now the unit just makes a spinning noise and won't build any pressure? Would using synthetic oil instead of Silicone oil have prevented this problem?

    Tofazfou, I noticed your air tank - is it a life extended or out of date one? I have this airgun shop owner telling me he can get me an out-of-date 44cf tank for a $100 something. He claims that there's nothing unsafe about them after 15 years of use as in Europe they certify their tanks for 30 years (as long as there's no visible/obvious damage that would indicate safety issue). Do you have any thoughts on using an out-of-date tank? I am on a budget right now while trying to decide on purchasing my fill method and very adamant about saving money but not if there's a safety issue. Thank you and I enjoyed your video - highly informative!

    • @Tofazfou

      That tanks still has life in it. Lots of used tanks on Ebay and other places that have a few years left on them for cheap. And no, as long as you hydro your tanks, they test for stress and cracks. And to be honest, an out of date tanks does not scare me. its silly to think that the exact date a tanks tag sais it expires, that the tank will somehow blow up. Everyone should make it a priority to be safe 1st and foremost. But i do believe in Hydro testing and I also believe in NOT filling up a scba tank or scuba tanks past fill pressure recommendations.

    Good video, great info. One thing that's always worried me is that conventional oil can explode under pressure at around 3000psi. So I always wondered how safe it would be to use regular motor oil on a hpa compressor? It would only take a little bit to get pass the piston rings and get into the system, and that is why a special hpa compressor oil is used. But maybe these compressors have some kind if a trap to stop this from happening? Maybe synthetic is a whole different story. Whatever the case, it's working for you, and they even recommended it.

    You should change the oil after break in to remove all the metal from the rings bedding in!!!!

      LMAO, I can't keep affording to throw 1000's of $ around. Ya know, the way I see it is, The Omega will also find a way to give ME problems just like any of them. I hear they are really good and don't doubt it BUT, all of them cause headaches

      Ha! I understand you are already deep in your pockets on the Air Venturi. Thanks for the update. It helps others to decide where to throw their $1000s when they see honest reviews.
