The real problem here: Monsanto has thrived on the money harvesting cycle of selling glyphosate (roundUp) and glyphosate resistant seeds. The patents have ended and the cancer causing claims are stacking..... so what would you do as a multi billion dollar company (with only profit in mind)? come on guy's... they have probably more than a dozen chemically neighbouring compounds ready for patenting; starting the circle all over again. They are miles, no, lightyears ahead of slow scientific research and bureaucracy! Good business model? for sure. Good for humanity? Nope

@@irek1394 Many european studies show negitive effects on tested rats, mice etc. that continue or get worse in subsequent generations. However these studies are refuted by monsanto who is often seen to pay researchers to minimize or dismiss independant results.
Look at the track record for other "Safe" products developed by Monsanto : Dioxin (Agent Orange), Thalidomide , Saccharin, PCB's, DDT .... etc.
Note... many of these independant studies have been around 10-15 years.

No Sir, back yard gardeners do not use Roundup in their gardens to kill weeds. Home owners use it to kill weeds like in their driveway/sidewalks. Backyard gardeners do not use GMO crops and if they use Roundup on their garden/crops then most of their crops would DIE. Industrial Farmers apply Roundup directly to crops. Completely different, so please do not miss lead the public.

I don't care about GMOs but Monsanto really pisses me off. We should be careful when it comes to GMO research and pesticide and money shouldn't be the priority.
They're a corporation. Money is why they exist (well actually, they don't any more because Beyer bought them) . Why do people shrink away from the reality that we need to get rid of capitalism? The problem with the "New World Order" is that it doesn't exist and the world is ruled by money, not even by the people who have it, the money itself dictates what nation states, corporations and international bodies do or do not do.
You should care about GMO's. Pay attention to how regular you are and how you feel, and I think you'll find you feel best when you eat non gmo food and have regular bowel movements. GMO cry1 proteins slow down digestion and directly contribute to IBS-c, crohn's, gluten sensitivity, and other inflammatory conditions.
So on one side cancer on the other side what would we loose? Oh and they are solving a problem that did not exist either you spray round up to kill stuff off but then you have to buy the seeds so they can survive the round up that type of business model never ends well.

I used to work at Home Depot and i had several co workers die of quick moving cancer in their 40s or 50s. Several were cashiers who would not use gloves when checking out merchandise (lots of roundup sold in home depot garden center) because that would make counting money too hard

My father passed away in October of this year due to the rare, aggressive, and terminal kind of cancer Roundup causes. I just want the company who owns Roundup and allowed it to be used to be punished. I want them to pay. I want them to hurt like they hurt me, my dad, and my family. It's like they don't even realize the effects of what this has done. I'm 14-years-old. My dad died when I was 13, 4 days before my birthday. This isn't fair. Why should they get to live rich and happy, while my family and I get punished for their mistake? I don't understand, and I am so mad about this. I don't think I will ever get over this. They've killed my dad, and so many others. That's f*cked up.
Roundup does not cause cancer but is a very very safe herbicide that is even safer than many of the pesticides that organic growers use. There are many companies even foreign companies that produce and sell Roundup. Why do you want farmers to go back to using more and more harmful pesticides?
I don't want anyone else dying of the cancer it causes. It's hell. Trust me. I watched my dad go through it. Don't you tell me it doesn't cause cancer, when you didn't do the research or see someone die from it.

Did you see the list of pesticides he was using every day? Monsanto was just a bigger target. Glyphosate is the safest herbicide farmers have ever use even safer than many of the pesticides organic growers use. You have to be an idiot to want to spray a herbicide in your mouth but if that is what you wish to do then glyphosate would be your safest choice if you are so stupid and inclined to do so.
The set back from not using Glyphosate is necessary in the bigger picture. Population increases in urban areas is overwhelming to the people being raised in rural areas. These rural people used to naturally grow all the food for city folk. Now more and more people only care about their iPhone and social media status. They are completely losing touch with the reality of nature and our primitive roots. Humanity needs to take a step back or will be eventually forced to from dieseses and natural disaster.
I work as a gardener and today I accidentally got quite a bit of round up on my left hand. Well in a bout 10 years if I get NHL, I know where it came from.
I smelled it after it was sprayed on the weeds. Is it bad?

To be clear Rounup is not DIRECTLY harmful or toxic to humans, at first. The damage is INDIRECT after it kills the soil and the food and then we eat the food grown on denatured soil. Then comes autism, cancer, chronic diseases, allergies - peanuts and gluten.

Life without glyphosate would be fantastic compared to life with it. Yes, the price of meat will go up, wheat and some other foods will be somewhat more expensive. But we have the chance to go back to family-run farms, growing real food for humans, who can buy it in farmer's markets, and recover the rich soil we used to have, along with a healthier population.
Glyphosate does not degrade soil.

IARC has been found to been selective in the studies they cited in order to come to the conclusions that they have about glyphosate. They have been dominated by environmentalists and their work is fast being dismissed due to the political activism of the agency.

All the scientists and epidemiologists on the *independent* panel of IARC have no conflicts of interest because they are funded by World Health Organization. The "selective" studies they picked was because those were *INDEPENDENT STUDIES* that weren't funded by Monsanto.
Favorable outcomes are always the norm for studies funded and doctored by the corporations that fund them, and Monsanto has had a *history* going back decades of manipulating data, covering up unfavorable results and ghost writing for scientists - which was uncovered recently by the lawyers for the Johnson case.

Weed resistance to herbicides has been going on for many decades Russ and is not exclusive to biotech crops or glyphosate. In fact there are quite a few more weeds that are resistant to other herbicides, ALS inhibitors for instance. Regards.
You are forgetting about Dow Chemical's weed killers that contain the same chemical and are spread around the sides of roads and utility lines with their contracts for various herbicides all across the USA that make their way into ground water, run off and the like.

Actually, other products would take the place of Roundup; there would be no financial setback or doomsday. They may have to anyway because weeds are becoming resistant to it. Monsanto made all it can from the product and needs to move on.

I’m doing organic food, and my allergies have improved a lot... They get worse with foods that have had their tops killed off - desiccated - by roundup. I’m thinking of doing home tests like seeing if roundup kills micro-organisms in a soil sample... I’d like to compare with a home made mix of plain soap, vinegar and salt with hot water... See which one kills plants but leaves the tiny bugs! I also want to try hot air (Hair dryer) to kill off plant tops... Solar electricity could be used...
Apparently labs can test for the presence of glyphosate... That would also be interesting...

In a word: no. It isn't easy to prove a negative but Roundup is the world's most tested chemical product ever. Any rumours to the contrary are the result of misinterpreting metadata.

Monsanto has deep pockets, lots of scientists willing to let them ghost write on their behalf, it's a company with a history of covering up or manipulating unfavorable lab studies and has a huge PR and legal department to destroy any critical counter arguments or questions.
Comparing the LD50 of glyphosate to table salt is disingenuous because LD50 (lethal dose) is meant for _acute_ oral toxicity, it does not test for *chronic* oral toxicity, teratogenicity and carcinogenicity of glyphosate. There are also no long term follow-up studies on human health outcomes or long term in vivo double blind studies on animals. That is a red flag for a compound touted as safer than table salt.
