I am OBSESSED with this song. I can listen to it over and over and over. And this video. OMG. Benjamin is the epitome of cool, gorgeous, swagger. So many words to describe him. LOVE & Miss you, Benjamin!!
Never fret over getting old. Its a privilege denied to many .How very sad his life was cut too short . Im 83 and I have just discovered his fine music ..Wish I was younger .Im sure I would have been in the pink of it all.
SASoundsRock , mmmm I am mesmerized and enamored with his voice, set aside the singing voice, his speaking voice, his way with words, his tone his accent or whatever it is. You said it right leagues ahead. Oh and very sexy.
@@escaton74 Yes, that's true. 6 singles is a lot and they were starting to do less well on the charts. Perhaps they should have relased this one instead of 'Why Can't I Have You'. I think it would have done a little better.
The songwriting genius of this band is only rivaled by their combined talent. Two lead singers, a fantastic and underrated guitarist and a keyboardist that knows exactly what keyboards a song needs.
Loveeeeee loveeeeee loveeeeee this song!!!! Its not the night for sweet sweet revenge!!!!! Benjamin bad ass at bass!!! Loveeeeee him forever and ever and this band!!!!
Agree - love when Ben lets his voice go raw here and there. And oh, the deep tones in songs like Candy-O. For throwing it around, have a look at Strawberry moonlight by Cap't Swing, live at Boston University. Fantastic voice.
RIC & BENJAMIN @ their FINEST HOUR !!!!! Witnessed this magnificent performance at Richmonnd Coliseum, Heartbeat City tour, summer 1984. The time was right-----------TO TANGO !
I saw these guys on this tour, Heartbeat City in 1984. Worcester Centrum and it was an exact carbon copy of this concert which was taped in Houston on the same tour. They were so progressive and forward thinking that they weren’t really known for their live shows. They weren’t all flashy and gimmicky live and they barely said anything at all during live performances, but they definitely kicked ass and I left feeling satisfied with their show in general. Nowadays you get what you get.🤷♂️
Ric and Benjamin, reunited once again. Your fans adore and miss both of you. Thank you along with the surviving members of The Cars for all of the music you left us with!
This coolest band ever! They where and always will be the bar to which others rock bands are measured! No band kicked in energy and fun like the Cars did! Love them
Benjamin Orr was never less than brilliant, what a voice, and what a stunningly beautiful man - he will never be forgotten. From Patricia H. not William.
Hi Patricia, I haven’t seen this in awhile, watching again I noticed how stunningly beautiful his cheekbones are on this one. Never ever be forgotten!!
@@garygolfer3243 Gary, Ben certainly is addictive - talent personified - and my admiration was alive and well in the 80's. From Patricia H. not William H.
Greetings: This is such representative of the 80s tech and sound. The Cars did it well. Although, not a very popular song, it is another of their masterpieces. Thx 4 the share. RIP Ben and Rick.
How does anyone know what happened. Benjamin wasn't there to defend himself. If it wasn't for Benjamin I don't think they would've gotten as big as they did. People should only talk about themselves. Benjamin got cancer was that his fault 😢😥💔💔
@@VUrban-yr5ch Who is blaming Ben? Where did you get that from? I saw these guys in a small place on their first big tour opening for Cheap Trick then the big Friday night at the Garden and later at the Spectrum. I forgive him for eyeing my high-school sweetheart all night at the Spectrum.
No Auto-Tune. No fireworks. No 50 person entourage. No backup dancers (WTF is a backup dancer, anyway). Just 5 musicians playing their songs. They were great in concert if you're into great musicianship. Oh...and a pink left handed Telecaster...
So sad about Ben and Rick. This band was incredible innovation on a rock and roll stage during a time of new-age and punk and the progressed to be true rockers. MTV helped, I know. Such incredible memories. Such great songs.
I feel like the Cars only reached this pinnacle of their career for a short moment. They worked so hard to get to this type of rock star status, and it was over shortly after this.
Killer version! I do wish that this album had the production values of their earlier work. Great songs on this album but the production was over-the-top 80’s. Guest was the flavor at that time. Still great though!
I did too. Graduated in 79 and saw them at Mile High Stadium for Colorado Sunday 1980. They followed UFO and the headliner was Ted Nugent. The impressed me so much I bought the debut album the following week. Dont ask me about the rest of the concert cause a dude gave me two 714s and I dont remember much after that.
The stage belonged to Ben. The voice the bass the face. He really brought it on that song, but then he always did.
This live version is the absolute best version of this song. It’s the passion Ben puts in it.
Benjamin Orr..born to be great ! The ultimate rock star.
How did he die?

Benjamin Orr was such a cool dude, and a wonderful vocalist.
Indeed
Such an agonizingly handsome singer with an awesome voice!
A lot of women in the 1980's had it bad for him.
Benjamin was so beautiful in every way. His voice...wow. miss you darling.

This song was largely overlooked on their best of list. Love Ben’s bass groove
Benjamin was an exceptional vocalist. My favourite Cars song.

What a truly awesome song. How was this song not a hit?
they had six singles from that album, I think it just was enough by then

My favorite song by my favorite band! The Cars only duet. RIP Ric and Ben, thanks for all you did!

Funny. I guess that could be considered a duet as well. I always just thought of it as Ric singing the chorus. Another fantastic song though!
One of my favorite Cars songs for sure... Benny rocks this one effortlessly!
One unique, beautiful, man. Wish I could have seen him in concert. He makes me weak in knee's. Love you sweet Benjamin.🥀❤️💯🔥
Yes, he’s hard to describe, I get teary eyed and my heart aches when I watch him.

The one and only…Ben Orr🤘🤘
The Cars were a rare band who sounded better live than they did on their albums.

Music has never gotten outdated. My son just turned 28 and loves them as well...
Its not the voice.....the time is right.....always my man 👍
I agree they had the perfect blend of a new music called new wave
I like the live version better Ben really brought it out with the vocals on this one
Great Band, Great Album, Great Era.

Ben Orr and Queen drummer Roger Taylor had similar look in the 80s, very Flash Gordon-ish I would say. Cool dudes.

Different styles bouncing off each other, and Greg Hawks occasionally adding to the mix. Great.
