This movie… god guys. It’s in my top 5 favorites of all time. I still remember seeing it in theaters and literally gripping my arm rests from the tension. The score is so haunting, the performances are masterclasses, the hidden themes and interconnected plot points make for such an engaging rewatch. And detective Loki’s haircut 🔥
🙌🙌🙌🙌
Denis’s best film in my opinion
🙌
prisoners is top 5 movies for me i watched when i was younger and it was like the first movie that had me so intrigued and it was so heavy and mysterious i was locked in the entire movie!
100%!
When people say Villeneuve can only direct large shots of spaceships landing, I show them this movie
For real
... or show them "Incendies" or "Enemy" or "Sicario"
Just showed it to my wife she loved it...I told her it's an awesome movie
Awesome 👏
This is the first episode of your podcast I've watched since this is my second favourite movie of all time and it was really informative and insightful! Sorry for getting off-topic, but I'm curious, are you guys brothers? You look and sound kind of similar and have great chemistry!
We’re twins!
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ oh, no way! Haha that's awesome and makes so much sense 😂

Outstanding synopsis of Prisoners you two!! I just subscribed to your channel. After watching a few of your videos, my hat's off to the extent you both make in the amount of detail with your in-depth analysis - not just with Prisoners but also with several other films. Prisoners is one of those rare movies that continuously gets better the more & more you watch it. It is so multi-layered, and you brought up a few points that I completely overlooked. As for the snakes, I always assumed the kidnappers might have caged them inside the underground prison cave... to scare them away from possible escape areas. I suppose it's possible the venom was used in the drug cocktail. But if it was ONLY reason, I don't think David Dastmalchian's character would have been so obsessed with them. Children wouldn't make a connection from consuming the drink, but they would feasibly be terrified if they saw snakes around that underground prison bunker. Just food for thought. Such an incredible movie from a very long list of incredible films from this director. Prisoners is one of Villeneuve's best, and you both are among the highest caliber of film reviewers.
Please keep up the fantastic work!
Thanks!
I like that the Batman song unintentionally parallels the story of the film. Batman = Keller the vigilante, the lost wheel = Keller’s daughter, and Joker = Alex/Holly Jones
The only thing better than the plot, cinematography, and acting of this movie is Jake Gyllenhaal's 🔥 haircut. 😂
That undercut 🥵🥵
Waited real long time for you guys to do this movie
Hell yeah!
Great episode, just rewatched this film before the review and correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Loki say he went to some boys home / school for years when he’s questioning the priest? Which makes perfect sense why the sex offenders bother him personally and professionally within the case adding to his personal agitation throughout the film.
Correct! Thanks for tuning in, we loved filming this one.
Fantastic review guys. I recently watched it and it's remarkable how good a film it is. It's so well-crafted. Thank you for explaining the technical details of film lighting.
Thanks so much!
This is the best movie of all time. I have said that since the first day I saw it when it came out.
I love film analysis. Seeing a movie and coming up with stuff is one thing but I love being apart of a group and going over the film after and analyzing everything. Like it has been a few years since I saw this but there so much I didn't catch that make sense from this video. I wish it was a more common thing for people to watch a movie and have a big discussion about them and the meanings. Last time I did that was in film school.
Thanks!
My favorite Jake performance and movie of all time !!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pittsburg is statistically the rainiest city in the country
I rewatched this movie because I knew y’all were doing this video
Amazing!!!
A big fan from Taiwan and Amazing review guys.
Thank you!
This movie made me trust in Paul Dano's casting as riddler
🙌🙌
There are so many examples of Villeneuve films where he leaves messages (visual ones) hiding in plain sight:
- in "Enemy", Adam walking "through" his story arc written out on the blackboard behind him in the lecture theatre
- in "Arrival", Louise's deconstruction of the phrase on the whiteboard, "What is your purpose on Earth?" - a phrase that sums up the question the film poses to the audience in the end
- and now the visual in "Prisoners" with the toy campervan stopping in front of the killer right in the first act...
Love this 👏🏻
Great analysis. Can we PLEASE get Apocalypse Now !?!?!?!?!?
Absolutely!

Already did it!
Needs an in-depth
@@matthewbob6966 we did 30 minutes! Would love to do a longer one for sure
Would love to see a full hour and a half, two hour podcast on it like this, this was excellent I thought I knew everything about Prisoners totally did not know about Keller’s past

Good
🙌
Great movie here...
🙌🙌
It's movies like this where you watch it the second time and you realize you miss a lot of things because I was only sixteen when I saw this movie ONLY once and remembering not liking it. But it was one that was glued at the back of my head and revisiting it now and loving Denis Villeneuve movies--especially my all-time favorite Dune--I learn to appreciate it more. I'm glad you boys take the time to give it a spotlight.
also Jake Gyllenhaal's hair
Are you guys trying to get demonitized by saying “Alex Jones” so much? UNSUBSCRIBE.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
First Comment!!!!! And it's also one of my personal fav movie.
