My daughter's dance school had a 25th anniversary night recently, I asked the d.j to play the 12" version of this....the floor was packed with mammies and daddies
Can we not have the 80s back. So much better. At least it more recognised for the great music. I will always be proud l was and still am A New Romantic.
Great song, seriously underrated band of the 80's. LOVE the sitar and middle eastern influence he incorporates into his songs. Listening again during covid and feeling VERY nostalgic. Stay safe my friends.
Love these guys. I remember going to see Blancmange in '83 at the Hammersmith Palais. A standing only venue that soon turned into a magically happy sweaty disco of swirling synthesizers and sitars. Brilliant concert, and all for just £3.50p. Although the memories remain priceless.
@@nc5809Thanks very much. I remember that after the concert my blue and black rugby shirt was so sweaty I had to wring it out on the Hammersmith Palais steps before heading off to the underground home. Happy nights 🧡
Una banda que hace apenas unos días conocí, y eso que soy ultra fanático de la música de los 80's. Esta es la canción que más me gusta de Blancmange 🎶🫵😍🎶
Just saw the great man Neil Arthur performed live last night (15/10/22) under the Blancmange name at 64 years old. A lesson in growing old gracefully. He sang this. His voice intact. Legend.
That movie brought me here lol! Man I would have loved to have been in my early 20s in the 80s! Charlie Sheen walking around the nightclub with this playing was awesome - almost Miami Vice like 😎
U571...had a diverse taste myself...but they were x Cellan then and now..and I'm drawing pension....with my drinking couldn't get off the floor..let alone see the ceiling ...but I know it word 4 word...wasn't all bad ..hic.
SUPER SONG HABE ICH DAMALS 20MAL HINTEREINANDER GEHÖRT UND DIE KASSETTE IMMER WIEDER ZURÜCK GESPULT. DAS WAREN SCHÖNE ZEITEN UND UNVERGESSEN UND ZEITLOS IST DIESE MUSIK.
Wow those synths sounds ahead of its time even now as lots of artists are trying to recreate these sounds but they lack the minimalist sound of this era
Saw a 20 second clip on a best of 1984 utube video......I was 12 then....went on a search to find the other hits of these guys I grew up with......loved them when I was a kid.....
I only know 'Living on the Ceiling' from this lot. A wonderfully mad song. This seems more restrained, and the singer's lost his chimney sweep haircut!
Here to state the obvious ; melodic synths ; 80s; big hair , odd fashion , nostalgic; never be the same ; big hair , take me back, oh if only . Multiple Platitudes. Big hair . Big shoulder pads. Dallas
Certainly a contender for best song of the 80’s imo.
April 23rd, 1984. Better weather ... and much better feckin days!
Such happy upbeat songs. I miss those days
My daughter's dance school had a 25th anniversary night recently, I asked the d.j to play the 12" version of this....the floor was packed with mammies and daddies
I've still got the 12" version , the one with the Budgie on the front cover ;)
LIMITED EDITION VERSION
@@Theoriginalbigbrillo that's the version I asked him to play...the best version
12" is brilliant
Can we not have the 80s back. So much better. At least it more recognised for the great music. I will always be proud l was and still am A New Romantic.
Remember like it was yesterday, Good times
One of the most underrated synthpop bands
I’ve never heard of them until this video recommended. I like it!
Whats😊 with the red dot on his forehead?
That beautiful hypnotic synth was so popular around this time, great stuff.
Great song, seriously underrated band of the 80's. LOVE the sitar and middle eastern influence he incorporates into his songs. Listening again during covid and feeling VERY nostalgic. Stay safe my friends.
Great song indeed! Stumbled on this band on the Limmy's show, of all places. Btw Sitar and tabla are Indian, not middle eastern.
These stories are priceless. I was born around when this happened
@@nc5809Thanks very much. I remember that after the concert my blue and black rugby shirt was so sweaty I had to wring it out on the Hammersmith Palais steps before heading off to the underground home.
Happy nights 🧡
Absolute classic. Mid-80s bliss with not a care in the world. Take me back🤔

Neil Arthur, handsome as ever
Listened to their music on repeat in the 80's, times were wonderful
Just saw the great man Neil Arthur performed live last night (15/10/22) under the Blancmange name at 64 years old. A lesson in growing old gracefully. He sang this. His voice intact. Legend.

Probably their ultimate party track.Under rated early 80s band.
It was one of the very first songs I was totally obsessed about, when I started to be musically conscious at age of 11. Still love it.

All of a sudden I was a teenager again.

A forgotten 80s classic.
Great quality upload.
Best band of the 80's without a doubt.
So talented
Anyone who thinks for even a moment today's music can be compared to this brilliance needs a hearing aid
I need a hearing aid ( but won't get one ) but yeah I agree. Most music pre 2000 was objectively better.
and a dig in the bollocks just for thinking such nonsense
Pardon
@@russgas Look at Beach House, Tame Impala, Tyler, The Creator, Mac DeMarco and more

Still making really good albums too.

I LOVE Erasure - but don't tell me they didn't model their whole look/image on Blancmange... well, until Andy discovered spandex of course ;o)
Brilliant! unforgettable song🎵💗
Oh, what a brilliant song, it's their greatest..
Wow those synths sounds ahead of its time even now as lots of artists are trying to recreate these sounds but they lack the minimalist sound of this era
I know right so progressive
80's Synth sounds were unmistakable !

Never noticed how much Indian instrumentation there was in this song. Fantastic!
