I just finished restoring a 1963 Corvette Split Window and I am starting another split window build but this time its a race car build. I will be making videos every Friday. I will be making videos on my 1963 Corvette Split Window, my dad's 1965 Corvette, my race car split window build, my friends 1960 Corvette, and other projects that I find along the way. Hi Mitch I love your car and info here. I bought my swc in 1980 off a used car “corvette lot,”, there was a time that a few used car dealers only sold used corvettes (Mr. Corvette and Larry Parks were two in NorCal) I bought my swc from Larry Parks for $18k back then and daily drove it for 20 years,(340hp, knock offs, 4 sp, pwr brakes) looks like your red one, then restored it and got NCRS top flight after covid. Missed driving it so bought another one that had been “ California” modified (fender flairs, three tail lights, etc) now my daily driver that I have plan to LS7 it. So I have Dr. Jeckle Mr. Hide. Love this body and the swc.

The C2 became my favorite car when I was a kid. I remember watching a movie I think called deadman’s curve and king of the mountainDo a wide body.

Thank you Mitch for update, sharing your work and the custom & stock comparison! I'm my opinion the narrowe spare rims&tires combo does not give the ideal presentation on the tribute split. I'd like to see you make a video about the necessary tools you use in your garage to rebuild C2's

They both look good to me, but it's hard to beat that original 63.
But then, it would be very cool to stuff some huge meats under those flares on the project car.
I'm so torn.

If my only 2 choices are these, I'd choose the stock body. Now since I do like to custom and wide tires. I would have to say custom fender flares over the wide body and the stock body. Either way these cars are the sexiest cars GM ever made.

I like it. Whenever you add the word custom to it, it has to be a bit different. I'm sure it won't be fitted with a 250hp engine. Something that wild looking will has a kickass engine to go with it. I've already had a guy call mine a P.O.S., it's all good. Peace out Brother. Take care, stay safe. Oh he was driving a crumpled up Mustang.
I’m a wide body guy. I’m making my 67 coupe the same using the panels from Dynamic.
Absolutely love this channel! Everyone has his/her own preferences, but as far as I am concerned the original lines and dimensions of the C2 Corvettes are on a par with the XK-Es, so they're second to none!
While I will never be able to afford one, the '65 FI C2 Coupe would be an old man's dream, especially with 4-Speed, Marina Blue/White, OEM KOs, PS, PB, PW and N-11 exhaust. But, hey; I'd take anything someone wanted to give me😛☺

I agree with you Mitch , the wide body is ok but the stock look is the best . When the C3's came out they came up with the daytona look , bad , IMO , then the C4's came out and I remember Eklers started to offer parts to change the look . To each his own I guess ,

I’m a Ford guy and I absolutely love that stock Vette, although that widebody would be a totally cool custom 😉👍
Would need to see it with the right wheels and tires.
The way it sits it doesn't look right but with the wider tires I'm sure it will look great.
A touch too wide maybe. But the correct tire wheel combination may change my opinion. When done could you post some pictures of it?
I like the factory panels better on this year model. However I want to convert to a 69 wide body my 77.

they each have their place , wide body with wide sticky tires for aggressive driving - stock body so clean what style
It looks dopey. For all the work you did, it would look better if you split the car down the center and widened the whole car six inches.
With proper wheels and tires it might look really cool.
What ever happened to the 68 corvette
newest corvette producing over 1k hp on pump gas with chassis and brakes to match. I think that is the final word in street car performance. classics are best stock

I used to be a purist but old cars drive like crap. Wider tires, updated suspension/brakes, and modern power would be just right for this car.

Stock all the way. Just my opinion, but I think widebody looks like crap in 98% of cases.
