This was so helpful! I've been in the process of quilting a bag for the past month and a half...and it has not gone as planned. Thank you for getting me back on track :)
YAY just finished this project for my mom's xmas present and i'm so excited for her to see! i picked a delicate teal floral pattern :) the hardest part was sewing straight lines for the quilting. also i didn't want any raw edges (even for the pocket insides) so i cut bigger pocket pieces and folded each edge in twice like a regular hem.
This would be a great project for my beginning sewing students! I'm teaching high school Fashion Design for the first time next year and love all your content!! I already purchased a bunch of your tpt stuff! 😅 Keep them coming! ❤
Hi Madison, great video✨💗 i was a bit confused with the measurement of the bag but then i remembered we don’t use inches in Europe 😂😂 but i googled everything and we are good to go for sewing 🪡🤍✨ ill be using this video to guide me through sewing thank you so much ✨🪡💗
Great tutorial!! I’ll be trying this to make my mom and her best friend (she’s basically an aunt to me and great aunty to my little girls) matching bags on the outside but with their favorite colors as the linings inside!
I would encourage you to find the video in my classroom series playlist that is titled “how to sew a plain seam” and I explain backstitching in detail there. But in short you always backstitch at the beginning and end of every stitch
Hi! I have two questions that relate to modifying the purse design in some way. Sorry. Is there a way to add a zipper? And what length would you recommend for the straps to be longer? I’m someone who finds it uncomfortable for the purse to be too high up, I like it to be about hip length.
For adding a zipper I would find a tutorial for a bag with a zipper and somehow merge the projects…if you add flaps to the top of each side you should be able to sew a zipper easily between them. For the straps I would measure straps on a bag you already and and like the length or measure over your shoulders to figure out the length you would want the bag to be. Hope that helps 💕
1/2 yard of fabric isn't enough! 1/2 yard is enough to cut the two body pieces and one strap but you need more fabric for the other strap and the pocket.
You can, but then you will have raw edges on the inside…that’s why I constructed it the way I did because the lining covers the raw edges and it gives the inside a very clean appearance
Great question! I would just get 100% cotton quilt batting from a fabric store, it comes in a variety of sizes and packages, so anything that’s 24x24 should be plenty
Hi! So I’m a bit confused on what the measurements for the pockets are I know you said 4 inches from the top and 7 inches wide from the outer edge but I’m still confused on what to actually cut the pocket measurements to on the fabric. So it lines up with those measurements from top to edge??
The dimensions for all the pieces are in the video description to make it easier to follow. The pocket is 8x7 and then you just center it in the front (on my front piece you’ll see I drew lines for my pocket placement to be in the center). Hope that helps
This is so sad because we know LV canvas gets thinner over time but Goyardâs canvas is literally paper thin. Most of their bags are leather lined but for me a big reason to own a coated canvas kislux bag is that it is lightweight and indestructible
Let's be honest. The luxury market isn't that expensive if you produce it at cost and take off the logo. The luxury logo is about 80% of the actual price. But the fact is that you're buying the image, showing off your taste, and making them think you have more money than you actually do, which is a very good thing. so kislux .

I followed this tutorial and felt confident enough to make my own bag. It turned out great thank you!
Yay!! I love hearing this👏🏻💕

Glad you figured out the measurements! I always forget we measure things differently here
Crosshatching is nice addition. Reminds me of Vera.
Very “Vera” inspired for sure!

What a fun personalization, I love that idea!
Such an easy tutorial! Made my first bag and I love how it came out!
Yay!
So cute! Can’t wait to get started on one.
Have fun!
Thank you so much for this video because of you I have made at least two tote bags and I'm planning on making many more❤😊
Ahhh, this makes me so happy!
You did a phenomenal
Job explaining ! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching💕
Love this!
Thanks!
Can you explain when you would backstitch ? Thank you!

Where do we find the pattern to print please?
I show you how to make the pattern for this bag in the video💕 maybe In The future I will create a printable version

Hmmm…maybe my calculations were off? I was also using pillow shams for this bag so my yardage is an estimate
Does anyone know if this bag fits a 13.6 inch MacBook? Love the tutorial, thank you
It should fit that size of MacBook as the bag is around 16” after seams are sewn
Thank you
You are very welcome! I hope you enjoy making it 😊
Love ❤
in your measurements in the beginning it looks like the pockets are 5x7? but the description says 8x7?
I might have changed the size after the video? I would go with whatever size you want you pocket to be…but 8x7 is a better size
I’m confused on how much fabric to get to make this would it be 1/2 yard?
In total you need 1 yard, but it is 1/2 a yard for the putter bag and 1/2 a yard for the lining
Loved your video. Im now a new subscriber! I would love it if you did a tutorial for a quilted boxy pouch and also for a quilted laptop.
Thanks for subscribing! Love the idea for a quilted boxy pouch tutorial💕
I have a question for drafting the pattern out, is it exactly 17 inches by 15 inches or do you need to add additional length for the seam allowance?
Pretty sure I had the seam allowance built in, but if your worried you can add in 1/2” extra for allowance
I may be missing something, but did you explain how to sew up the hole in the lining?
Did I leave that out?! You can just sue a slip stitch or just stitch it closed right along the edge using your sewing machine
@@MaddieLynn thanks for the quick reply! I went with the latter and I absolutely adore the bag. thank you so much for this video!!
Can we sew the top fabric, batting, and lining together at the same time, or is there a reason we do the lining separate?
You can, but then you will have raw edges on the inside…that’s why I constructed it the way I did because the lining covers the raw edges and it gives the inside a very clean appearance
Is there a way to sew the lining down so it doesn’t move, but still have all raw edges concealed how it is still?
How could you go about adding a side pocket for a water bottle? Would that be possible on this type of bag?
This style of bag might be hard to do that since there’s only one side seam and not two…
Thank youuu ❤
You're welcome 😊
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Very new to sewing. What do we need as batting? I saw yours was thrifted but what would we purchase?
Great question! I would just get 100% cotton quilt batting from a fabric store, it comes in a variety of sizes and packages, so anything that’s 24x24 should be plenty
how to attach zipper in the bag
I would recommend looking up a tutorial for a tote bag with a zipper and following that to learn
