  • In a remarkable effort to rejuvenate the community, Major Nathan Gordon of the Riviera Beach Police Department is leading the Inlet City Community clean-up, launched on January 6th, 2024. This initiative, targeting the neighborhood formerly known as Riviera Beach Heights and/or Firehouse Park, aims to elevate livability and safety through activities such as home painting, landscaping, bulk trash removal, and towing derelict vehicles.
Major Gordon, a native of the neighborhood, expressed his passion for contributing to positive change in the very community where he grew up. "This initiative is a testament to our commitment to transforming a neighborhood too often associated with crime and violence into a cleaner and safer environment," he stated. Reflecting on his childhood memories, Major Gordon shared, "The impact of this project fills me with an overwhelming sense of joy and nostalgia."
On January 6th, Riviera Beach Police Department temporarily blocked off the 700 block between 2nd Street and Ave. I to facilitate the community cleanup efforts. Volunteers engaged in revitalizing three homes, offering services like pressure washing, painting, and landscaping. Pre-cleanup preparations, including the towing of derelict vehicles and a trash amnesty day allowed residents to dispose of bulk trash items.
Crucial to the success of this initiative are community partnerships with organizations such as Solid Waste Authority's Paint Your Heart Out program, The Home Depot, Unique Men, Men of Riviera Beach, Christ Fellowship Church, City of Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, the City of Riviera Beach Community Development Corporation, The City of Riviera Beach Code Enforcement, Goode Companies, and more. Major Gordon emphasized the importance of ongoing collaborations to further enhance the scope and impact of this transformative project.
