Jinjer is definitely considered more as Prog than metal/core, at least currently. They rarely have a regular song structure. This song is a sister piece of music to a song called Ape, which has even less structure than this song. They have a shared theme and lyric. And just FYI; this song comes off of "Macro" which is their most current LP album. They released an EP "Micro" 10 months earlier which has the song Ape on it.
@@maaronsmith just to put my 2 cents in; like "Teacher, Teacher", I feel "Ape "should have a listen to the original version before the live version, just because the way it is recorded has quite a bit of backing vocals that add to the listening experience. "Perennial" and "Who is Gonna be the One" live versions don't have as much reliance on vocal harmonies and I feel can can be listened to without hearing the original first. She has about 20 different vocal styles. You will be blown away. This band is so talented. She draws people in with her amazing vocals and beauty but people start to see they are such an equally balanced band. Perennial live at Wacken is a must for you guys. I think you guys would love to see Judgement and Punishment One Take. It just shows her up close doing the vocals and you could see how she does her vocals. Please do more Jinjer!
Can you imagine the experience of auditioning for a singer and she shows up and completely destroys every guy and girl alike with this voice? To hear this voice come out of this little body is just so narley, I love it!
I´m glad someone is disecting Tati´s lyrics. She´s a brilliant lyricist. If you listen to their albums Micro and Macro you can see how she connects the dots from earlier songs or even continues where she left off. This song f.eks is kind of a part 2 from the song Ape on the Micro album! And it´s about us humans destroying the world and mother nature expressing her dissapointment.
They started out as a Metalcore band, but evolved more into a Prog metal band these days. This is a Rabbithole you will enjoy I think. Live performances are VERY much worth the watch. The band worked their asses off to get where they are now, doing 180 gig tours a year and it shows. They are incredibly tight live, all the musicians are incredibly talented and Tatiana is pure energy when she is on stage (as well as just as good, if not better than on recordings)
Cool to see you react to this. This is the 6th release out of 9 songs on the album Macro. The song is written about humanity from the perspective of mother nature. I hadn't noticed the fairy tale wording, but it makes sense given the context, and connects to another song on Macro called Home Back which some fans such as myself are waiting with great anticipation for the video (they've said they'll do videos for every song on that album) which is about the war in eastern Ukraine and contrasts fairy tale creatures with the brutal reality of war from the perspective of a civilian caught in the middle of it (which 3 of the 4 of them were in fact, Vlad the drummer joined the band later), and which I feel like she's using to represent her loss of innocence when her homeland descended into chaos. Their roots are more metalcore, but these days the best description of what they do is progressive metal. There is lots more to see from them, not just on Macro but the preceding Micro EP and 3 other records that Tatiana has done vocals for. They are releasing a live album from one of their last shows before lockdown called "Alive in Melbourne" tomorrow if you want to spoil all their best work haha. I'd highly recommend checking out one of their concert videos, because their live shows and constant touring are how they've made their name and they always have an edge of intensity on stage that makes those live shows incredibly entertaining. This is one of their heavier and more aggressive, so maybe something lighter like Perennial live at Wacken? Or if you want to see her when she had dreds, there is an older live video that was released as the trailer for a live DVD called "Crowd Factory" early in their careers. Too much good stuff. The guys are Roman on guitar (with the hat), Eugene on bass, and Vlad on drums. Cheers! :)
You haven't seen nothing yet. This is just the tip of iceberg when it comes to Tatiana's vocal range. Check out more Jinjer you will see. I would suggest Tatiana's one take vocal of Judgement and Punishment for starters. Nice reaction by the way.
Some bands I like a lot that deserve more recognition: Myrath, Tunisian rock/metal band. French speakers but they sing in English. Try "Dance". Light in Babylon, playful middle-eastern folk group, vocals in Hebrew. Try "Gypsy Love". Gary Numan, industrial synth-rock. He's been going since the 1970's, still fresh today. British guy. Try "My Name is Ruin". Konvent, northern European doom metal. Try "Puritan Masochism" official live video (which is festival footage & maybe studio sound, not sure). Sung in English but honestly it's hard to tell... Melissa Bonny in Ad Infinitum, melodic euro-metal. Try "Marching on Versailles (Official Video)". Vocals in English. Crystal Lake, Japanese, heavy heavy heavy. And then a bit more heavy. Anything by them. I particularly enjoy "The Circle" but really, it's all epic. Even if you don't react to them, all worth a listen.
This band is special next level stuff enjoy the jinjer rabbit hole it's epic. You really need to see more Jinjer this is the tip of the iceberg for real. lm a 53 year old black male metal head this band brought me back to metal after a hiatus exploring other music. In my opinion the next huge metal act. Who's going to be the one. Or perennial live at waken open air both are excellent. Peace ✌️ from Stan the Alaskan
They will surprise you every song. It’s hard to nail down there style. They have amazing time signatures, very technical musicians! You must listen to other songs, live are the best. Perennial live WACKEN who’s going to be the one is cool also LIVE one take of Judgment & punishment is sweet!
Right now JINJER is the best band out there . Their music, vocals , and live show is top shelf. They have alot of songs that you will like . Their musicianship and vocals far exceed most bands out now , every song is different .
Good analysis, this song is from their full length album, Macro. Macro was released after Micro which was an EP. Their older music is a lot more Metalcore and Groove Metal, their newer stuff is more technical and progressive. This video was meant to be a throwback to the 90's. I love this song, but that description about the topic of the lyrics is way off, you were actually closer with your fairy tale idea. The overall message of the song is a warning that if we do not stop destroying the earth the earth will destroy us. It's written from the perspective of personified mother nature, speaking to the voracious ape (humans) saying: "you should get rid of the ego, you don't own this planet and if you don't start treating it right I'm going to take it back" (I reclaim my kingdom) Tatiana often writes lyrics about environmental awareness, social injustice, war, corruption and greed. They are a phenomenal band, I hope you stick with them and explore more of their music.
I don't think Jinjer has a bad song but this is not their best, IMO. I promise you, this is not her full range. Pisces: ua-cam.com/video/SQNtGoM3FVU/v-deo.html (yes, that's 41 *million* views) Who's Gonna Be the One: ua-cam.com/video/U6rv5qi8-8s/v-deo.html (live, check the growl at ~ 4m mark) Perennial: ua-cam.com/video/bxi3i9wzQBk/v-deo.html (live, good mix of cleans and growls) Teacher, Teacher: ua-cam.com/video/oRkRwL0vjOg/v-deo.html (live footage) Pit of Consciousness: ua-cam.com/video/vEhxuNuHWls/v-deo.html (live, brutal growls) Judgement & Punishment: ua-cam.com/video/Q5rg_63Shqg/v-deo.html (live / one take studio) Words of Wisdom: ua-cam.com/video/ew48eCy2fhU/v-deo.html (live, this one doesn't get enough love, imo) Outlander: ua-cam.com/video/XtOYjCkHJak/v-deo.html (live footage)
Y’all should definitely check out more Jinjer. Their songs Ape, or Perennial live at Wacken 2019, or Who Is Gonna Be The One. Really anything by them would be good. Lol
Just subscribed to hear you guys do more Jinjer songs. This song doesn't even touch her full range. Keep doing more of them and you'll love them more and more after every song. They, as a band has a huge range in style and sound. I would suggest "Teacher Teacher" official video or "Perennial" live at Wacken next. There's a long list of their songs to do. Cant wait.
She has a lot of range. She was in 8 different bands before this one all types of different styles. And she mingles all styles in this band. She is great and very talented
I am really surprised how anyone interested in harder music could not have heard Jinjer or Spiritbox. 2020 essentials. Actually I am jealous. Because you have all these masterpieces to explore for the first time. I remember how blown away I was with every song. literally - every song. :-)
We're going to dive into more soon. We kind of lived under a rock for the last decade not really exploring anything other then our staple 5 or 10 bands.
I've been a metal head since metal began, pretty much. Sabbath to Priest in the 70's, Metallica to Slayer in the 80's, etc. and this band is one of the best of ALL time, imo. Their music will be as big and influential as any legendary band you can think of. I base that opinion off not just their music, but who they seem to be as people in interviews. Purely amazing. Try out anything live, I personally love anything from the Kiev concert (Pit of Consciousness!!) or Melbourne. And Outlander. Captain Clock. F*ck, it's all great
Jinjer is amazing, Tatiana is the cherry of the cake. Please react to Sharptooh, say nothing (in the absence of content) video, is an another great band with a female in vocals
I was always a big Arch Enemy fan. I do love heavy female vocals. I’m always hoping to find the new next band like them or close enough at least. Later started to listen to Jinjer, saw them live and they’re really great. BUT, now I wanna respond to your reaction with another band (request) I found a few years back called “Infected Rain” and I love them. My nr 1 request for them would be “Orphan Soul” to start with and then I would highly recommend their last album aswell. Lena Scissorhands has the looks, vocals and a cool name 😍
Oh hells yeah, a Jinjer rabbit 🐰 hole with a couple cool people. Oh boy I’m looking forward to seeing this. This band doesn’t have any songs that could be considered filler. Every request you get is gonna be a great track. Especially considering this might be one of their weaker tracks. And it’s still fn badass. Great reaction and welcome to Jinjer. Same goes for Spiritbox and Infected Rain.
Def check out their live performances...anything from Alive in Melbourne which is also their latest album release...Teacher Teacher, Pit of Consciousness, On the Top, etc etc
I’ve given up on the idea of who’s your favourite female vocalist. I just say vocalist and in today’s world that shouldn’t matter. Tatiana is an exceptionally talented vocalist. That’s all that needs to be said. But the bands song writing and technical ability to play it is something to be looked at. Vlad, Roman and Eugene are super talented🤘🤘🤘
they are best live. great reaction, subbed. The 90's vibe was on purpose. you could also see the Gwen Stephanie influence in the song, clothes and even the video.
I like how you look into the lyrics. I'll confess right off, I'm a bit obsessed with this band :). Just something about them. As others have said, this probably isn't the best song to showcase her range. It is a great song though. They do that change up a lot in a lot of their songs. They are typically very dynamic. They pull in all kinds of influences (Jazz, reggae, nu metal (as you noticed - Tatiana really likes Gwen Stefani). She also says she loves Amy Winehouse, Ella Fitzgerald, and Bob Marley. They listen to all kinds of music (older hip hop as well (House of Pain and Cypress Hill). The drummer (Vlad) is a classic and jazz trained pianist as well as drummer and can play guitar. The bassists (Eugene) is awesome (and has many other music styles he draws from besides just metal - the whole band actually) and the guitarist (Roman is great). All the guys compose the music and then give a rough draft to Tatianna to then write the lyrics and vocal lines. It's interesting that you noticed the lyrics were like a fairytale. In an interview when talking about their influences on lyrics they mentioned their upbringing in the Ukraine was heavily steeped in classical folk music, Russian rock music, and classic Russian literature. They said their culture is very focused on literature (all levels of schooling). They truly feel songs should be poetic and be a story and message. This song is about the earth responding to how we as humans have squandered our potential and have not taken care of the earth. It's sort of the the sequel to the song Ape on their Micro EP. I suggested a bunch of their songs on your other reaction for Pisces. All their songs are good.
Had to leave a second comment. The jinjer army is on the way to help you out with all kinds of information and kool jinjer facts. Just subbed. Peace ✌️ from Stan the Alaskan
Subbed, and also check out No Hoard of Value, an often missed suggestion with lyrics going after coal mining from their region. I'm glad you do lyric breakdowns, many react channels miss that aspect and jinjer lyrics should be discussed. Thanks
ok ... Perenial must be first song for new listeners , but ..,. oh well .. if u like Jinjer and since you know what Tatiana can do .... just .. listen it :D
Great reaction and great analysis! It’s funny you talk about Metalcore bc I’m a life long and old school metal head and I for the most part hate metal core!!! Mainly bc when men do the clean and harsh vocals I could never deal with their cleans. But with Jinjer man maybe it’s bc she’s female the cleans just sound right. And she always seems to balance it perfectly!!! Tatiana is a straight up metal queen imo!!!then there’s the band. Usually people have to get used to Tatiana’s vocals before they realize just how special this band is. Their song structures, progressive and technical playing and lyrics are off the charts!! This band is one of only a few newer bands that got me excited about heavy music again!!! As you listen to more songs you’ll see how versatile and how each song is a journey that doesn’t fit the norm. They always seem to zig when you expect them to zag. This song is a good example of this. But loved your analysis and I subbed bc I think you’re going to love this band as you discover more and I’m sure you’ve already received the Jinjer bump lol!!! Jinjer fans are rabid!!! Looking forward to more and I’m sorry about the length of this message but like I said this band excites me and I never even think about them being female fronted of which you talked about at the beginning of this reaction so thanks guys!!!
Also I think after you listen to more songs you’d consider Jinjer more of a Djent or progressive metal band. Their older stuff is more metalcore but I really don’t see them as that. Also “perennial live from Wakken” should be the next video you should do!

Also as a second comment, nothing to do with the music or reaction, why do people dislike stuff, if you don’t like it , turn it off, and listen to what you like. You you are not forced to listen to it, it’s your choice to listen to it, it’s the same as as TV and you have a remote control which allows you to change channels.
Alice: "This shows her range." Tati: "Hold my beer." There are so many... I can't even suggest. Each is so much different from the next, but all unmistakably Jinjer.
Jinjer takes song structure and does whatever they want whenever they want... And her range is so far beyond this song you'll be amazed once you hear more from them.
Jinjer Pisces song shows more versatile in Tatiana's vocal range & the bands sound is very tight & well thought off with the all their changes in the instrumentations etc overall Very unique song.
Well it seems like someone has written something similar... But anywhooo! Very happy you started off with a different song than Pisces. Wayyy to many disgustingly fake reactions to it. But I really hope you do a reaction to it. It's definitely my style, with the video, vocals and instrumentals. It shows how well tuned the band are they gel together so well.

My fav from jinger have to be Pisces, mainly because of the contrast between the singing/slow parts and the growling/heavy parts.
Can you imagine the experience of auditioning for a singer and she shows up and completely destroys every guy and girl alike with this voice? To hear this voice come out of this little body is just so narley, I love it!
Tatiana is like Gwen Stefani crossed with Angela Gossow.
More Jinjer! 😝😝 glad you both enjoyed
Thus band will blow y'all away
They started out as a Metalcore band, but evolved more into a Prog metal band these days. This is a Rabbithole you will enjoy I think. Live performances are VERY much worth the watch. The band worked their asses off to get where they are now, doing 180 gig tours a year and it shows. They are incredibly tight live, all the musicians are incredibly talented and Tatiana is pure energy when she is on stage (as well as just as good, if not better than on recordings)
More jinjer!!! Who is gonna be the one(official live). Cloud factory(official live). Perennial(official live).
and as JINJER are my favourite band i would suggest NO HOARD OF VALUE.
The album this song is from was legit one of my favs from 2019
Cool to see you react to this.
Cheers! :)
You should definitely check out Pisces next, the Perennial, followed by the One Take of Judgement and Punishment. Just my hmo.
9:50 - You got that right. If there's an adjective that doesn't apply to Jinjer's music is "boring". : )
Jinjer has a lot to offer and to check out. Thank you for this reaction! hope to see more reactions to them in the future 🖤
You haven't seen nothing yet. This is just the tip of iceberg when it comes to Tatiana's vocal range. Check out more Jinjer you will see. I would suggest Tatiana's one take vocal of Judgement and Punishment for starters. Nice reaction by the way.
Some bands I like a lot that deserve more recognition:
Myrath, Tunisian rock/metal band.
You must check Jinjer - Perennial live at Wacken 2019, hands Down best metal performance ever!
can't believe you don't know Jinjer yet! So technical, & Tatiana is the *real deal,* paving the way every day. Lots to discover!!
You think Tatiana is awesome you should experience Lena Scissorhands from Infected Rain. FOOKIN love Jinjer and Infected Rain.
🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻🖤 cant wait to hear what else they have in store.
It's written from the perspective of personified mother nature, speaking to the voracious ape (humans) saying: "you should get rid of the ego, you don't own this planet and if you don't start treating it right I'm going to take it back" (I reclaim my kingdom)
Tatiana often writes lyrics about environmental awareness, social injustice, war, corruption and greed. They are a phenomenal band, I hope you stick with them and explore more of their music.
I don't think Jinjer has a bad song but this is not their best, IMO. I promise you, this is not her full range.
Pisces: ua-cam.com/video/SQNtGoM3FVU/v-deo.html (yes, that's 41 *million* views)
Who's Gonna Be the One: ua-cam.com/video/U6rv5qi8-8s/v-deo.html (live, check the growl at ~ 4m mark)
Perennial: ua-cam.com/video/bxi3i9wzQBk/v-deo.html (live, good mix of cleans and growls)
Teacher, Teacher: ua-cam.com/video/oRkRwL0vjOg/v-deo.html (live footage)
Pit of Consciousness: ua-cam.com/video/vEhxuNuHWls/v-deo.html (live, brutal growls)
Judgement & Punishment: ua-cam.com/video/Q5rg_63Shqg/v-deo.html (live / one take studio)
Words of Wisdom: ua-cam.com/video/ew48eCy2fhU/v-deo.html (live, this one doesn't get enough love, imo)
Outlander: ua-cam.com/video/XtOYjCkHJak/v-deo.html (live footage)
Y’all should definitely check out more Jinjer. Their songs Ape, or Perennial live at Wacken 2019, or Who Is Gonna Be The One. Really anything by them would be good. Lol
Watch for a whole new album early this year!!
@@ArsenicAndEspressoPodcast That's a great starting point for a lot of genuine reactions! :-)
F*ck, it's all great
The whole performance in Kyiv was amazing...was lucky enough to be part of it
Jinjer is amazing, Tatiana is the cherry of the cake. Please react to Sharptooh, say nothing (in the absence of content) video, is an another great band with a female in vocals
"This showcases her range..." Ahahahah, you have no idea XD
Jinjer’ s Judgement and Punishment is the song that got me hooked into them.
Jinjer has several albums, so you will be busy. Currently releasing videos for last albums but new album coming early next year.
Alright! Can't wait!
Actually live album coming out on the 20th of this month.
@@jazoon7249 Actually coming in the mail today because I pre-ordered, but think an album with totally new songs coming early next year.
I love how she laughed in her growl
Oh hells yeah, a Jinjer rabbit 🐰 hole with a couple cool people. Oh boy I’m looking forward to seeing this. This band doesn’t have any songs that could be considered filler. Every request you get is gonna be a great track. Especially considering this might be one of their weaker tracks. And it’s still fn badass. Great reaction and welcome to Jinjer. Same goes for Spiritbox and Infected Rain.
Ape, Cloud Factory, Hypocrites and Critics, Angels, and Home Back are some of my favorites if your interested~~
Def check out their live performances...anything from Alive in Melbourne which is also their latest album release...Teacher Teacher, Pit of Consciousness, On the Top, etc etc
React to Perennial live at Wacken 2019 it’s one of their best performances ❤️
I’ve given up on the idea of who’s your favourite female vocalist. I just say vocalist and in today’s world that shouldn’t matter. Tatiana is an exceptionally talented vocalist. That’s all that needs to be said. But the bands song writing and technical ability to play it is something to be looked at. Vlad, Roman and Eugene are super talented🤘🤘🤘
they are best live. great reaction, subbed. The 90's vibe was on purpose. you could also see the Gwen Stephanie influence in the song, clothes and even the video.
Yeah that makes total sense! They nailed it
I like how you look into the lyrics.
I would check out Judgement and punishment. They incorporate reggae into that one and it’s amazing
Guys you must to react to any other already recommended songs by Jinjer. Every song is a brilliant
There's no " female' or "male" vocales ... Just feel the music. Stay safe.
I'm ok with this
Incorrect.
look at the voicebox and they are physically different.
Subbed, and also check out No Hoard of Value, an often missed suggestion with lyrics going after coal mining from their region.
I'm glad you do lyric breakdowns, many react channels miss that aspect and jinjer lyrics should be discussed.
Thanks
🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻🖤 glad you're here!
ok ... Perenial must be first song for new listeners , but ..,. oh well .. if u like Jinjer and since you know what Tatiana can do .... just .. listen it :D
"Must be", huh....?
Perennial is usually the second or third song after Pisces and maybe Teacher, Teacher.
That definitely makes more sense. Their wiki page said metalcore but it doesnt quite fit
You should also check out Infected Rain
Great React :)
some food for thought "On The Top, Teacher Teacher, Judgement and Punishment (official vid or one take performance), Perennial (Live at Wacken), I speak astronomy, Retrospection (Live)
honestly i haven't heard anything from them i don't like i look forward to coming along with you both on your journey into the rabbit hole
Typically the people start with pieces but this song is also nice 👌 can you listen to who is gonna be the one live from jinjer?
And of course pieces 😄🤘🏻🖤
This is not new, it is years old
I envy anyone just starting their journey down the Jinjer rabbit hole.
Tati is one of the best vocalists on the planet, and the rest of the band is god level as well.
I am commenting during your intro, You seem like good people. Jinjer is amazing Vlad-Eugenie-Tatiana-Roman
Good reaction, subbed. I hope you dive into Jinjer more. To hear Tatiana’s full range “Perennial” official live at Wacken Open Air 2019 is incredible 😮🤘🏻🔥 “judgement & punishment” Tatiana’s one take version of this Jinjer song (reggae vibe) and “Teacher, Teacher” official is wicked cool different vibe too
Thank you! Appreciate the suggestions!
I’m gonna be direct and blunt.........for a full on balls to the wall Jinjer track check out Dip a Sail from the LP King of Everything 🤘🏽
Yes, Tatiana has the range and the band has an army!!!!!!!
Well you guys made me want to start poking around again. Two days after you released this Napalm dropped Alive In Melbourne...the ENTIRE show! Listening to it now but already checked the set list and it's a monster. Not that you guys should even try reacting to a 1hr and 16 min video, just that it's a thing that exists.
just a suggestion for a reaction. if you havent already heard a band called EVIL SCARECROW listen to their song ROBOTOTRON official video. They are from near me in Northern England. A comedy metal band with incredible music.
That super interesting. We will consider!
These lyrics are more or less a sequel to their song 'Ape'.
I suggest to react to that as well to understand the lyrics of 'The Prophecy' even better.
Perennial Live at Wakken
Astronomy, or Sit Stay Roll Over. Thank you.
Great reaction to a great song i look forward to your jinjer journey because there are some great songs to come🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻perennial (live at waken) would be my choice next👍🏻
🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻🖤
Like almost everyone says “YoU Should’ve StarTed With PiSces” tbh idc cause its still on my top 3 from jinjer
the shock value is important , not for them but for most of ppl
xD
pisces has its charm but honestly? it's boring af
Noted haha
@@olgaforcher5175 Maybe for a ppl who listen it too much time or know the band , but for 1st time listener its nice to go on the journey .. I mean , Def its not my fav ( i think its Teacher , Teacher ) , but its nice for new listener and shock factor.
@@WolfAZA I mean its hardly even shocking...
Alice: "This shows her range."
Tati: "Hold my beer."
There are so many... I can't even suggest. Each is so much different from the next, but all unmistakably Jinjer.
EP - Micro; album is Macro.
Just came across another female singer I love, almost as much as Tatiana. Elli Berlin - Ich bin der Nachtwind (Tanzwut Cover)
Do who is gonna be the one live. Good mix of her vocal techniques.
Another band to check out is (spiritbox)
Fu*k yeah!!!
