Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys excursion.

The 1 that started it all. Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys chartered/rented light rail vehicle (LRV) trolley 9000. It recently went through its last major vehicle overhaul (VOH) before being replaced by the Alstom Citada in the not so distant future. It was repainted in the original red, white, and blue wide stripes it was delivered in when it was brand new. It was designed by 2 SEPTA engineers over 40 + years ago and the only 1 assembled overseas in Japan and delivered from Kawasaki in July 29th, 1980. It entered service that same year on October 10th on route 11 outta the old Woodland car house.
These are great dependable vehicles and outlasted many other light rail fleets across the country. A huge thanks and kudos to SEPTA Woodland shop employees, personnel, and all others involved for making this happen.

Shame you couldn't go over Rt. 10 and out Girard Avenue to Richmond & Westmoreland. Then back around 40th & Girard, over the top and back to Elmwood. That would have been a great fan trip.

This is actually the 80 version of the scheme. I prefer the 90s version with the thinner logo stripes on the sides
