After the song, Lea talks about the beginning of Miss Saigon and explains how frightening it felt for her when she was about to rehearse the love scenes with Simon, having had no experience with a boyfriend, let alone love before. Simon could see the anxiety in Lea, so he took her and her mum aside and told them: "You can trust me. I will take care of you. Don't worry, I will not take advantage of you." With the pressure of the leading role in a world premiere musical and the entire nation watching her, as well as in light of MeToo, this obviously means so much to Lea and she'll be forever grateful to Simon that he kept his promise. You can see clearly how deep their bond goes. Great respect for Simon Bowman!

My husband 2vdaughters n me. Watching this now makes nybhair stand as i remember thatbscene...Dmiring such a small petite girl being kissed by a soldier. Then comes the helicopter....those scenes in new york were hair raising....seeing lea n simon now gives me the goosebumps and nostalgia of the beautiful eta of art n love! Watched it over n over!

For a popular guy, his personal life is so remote. His wikipedia is almost empty. But, this duet reminds me of the past. We all get old and older. Sad reality.

Also from 6:18 u can see that his mike is not on his mouth but he still sound very clear, if its using leas mike, he should sound distant, but no. Same modulation.

To comment further who could not love Lea Salonga? It's appropriate that she voiced two disney princesses because she is a princess in the flesh. Timeless elegance with a voice as smooth as the ripples on a mill pond. Her enunciation of every word she sings delivers the full impact of every song. Too many performers are so in love with their voice they over sing and enunciation is an afterthought. She is the most polished singer the stage has ever known. The greatest most versatile female singer of all time...

Allan Lopez Ardina it was really magical!! If you’ll listen closely, Lea’s voice started off like her present voice (still perfect)...but when it was her to sing again, her voice just swung back to sound like her young voice!! AMAZING!!

It’s June 2022, and I am sitting here listening and crying. Chris and Kim were a perfect, innocent, love, and no matter how many times I listen to Miss Saigon I cry.
Its 2023 now, 7th of January, still watching again and again these great actors/singers. The chemistry is beyond perfection! The respect for each other is so immense its almost reverence. Everything is effortless. You can't help being carried away into that place and time when love is almost perfect.
I prefer the original Chris and Kim after hearing different versions. And I like their innocent interpretation compared to the bolder and passionate one depicted by other musical theater artists.
WHATEVER GOES FOR ME me too because the newest ones have changed the way the songs are sung. They are all still amazing and have powerful voices but I prefer these two over anyone else!
@@whitneysterk3555 Yes, the other singers can sing the songs very well but somehow I prefer the original interpretation (West End) when Lea was still very innocent (no boyfriend at age 18) since that was more in keeping with the character of Kim. It was supposed to be the first time for Kim in all aspects :) Lea, when older, interpreted the songs and the character of Kim in a more passionate way, though. Good thing my sis has the very first and original version of Miss Saigon with all the old songs (and interpretation) and lyrics still intact.

I adore Lea’s voice. She’s one of my favorite female singers but omg Simon. That voice. Like I can’t. It’s butter. It’s I don’t have words. Love them both. Chris and Kim forever. The talent is making me cry.

One of the best duets ever, Sun and Moon and Last Night of the World, from the original production of Miss Saigon. Lea and Simon Bowman. None will ever compare to these two Actor/Singers. They're performances were superb, one of kind and were absolutely brilliant. They will always be what made MISS Saigon. They can do 100 Reproductions but none will ever compare to the original.
When he kissed the side of her forehead. That so moved me. That was a sign of a great friendship they have. Like a brother to a sister.

I watched Lea sing Last Night with other singers and it's different. After years of performing together and being friends, Lea and Simon's chemistry is undeniable. They can never replicate their version with anybody else. Lea and Simon are so good with each other that when I watch them sing these songs with someone else, it feels like they're being unfaithful LOL!
Can’t watch this amazing video without shedding tears. For me, it looks like Kim and Chris have found and loved each other again in heaven after 30 years.

babyjuds a music teacher once told me when she learned that I sing in the church, that I should sing everyday, ( exercise baga) para bang sasakyan na kahit di mo gamitin pero paandarin mo for few minutes sabi n'ya to maintain the range of my voice, of course di ko sinunod at sinusunod, walang oras, walang proper place! To those who are saying that their voices hasn't changed, you are wrong. Of course their voices aged! Do you have the original recording? Their voices matured, I'm not saying it's bad, but it's definitely different. Still good though. Lea's voice got thicker, more texture, same with Simon.

I agree and I say this as a devoted Lea and Miss Saigon fan. I used to listen to that original soundtrack over and over again. Her voice at 18 was definitely lighter, more angelic but for the most part she still sounds the same. She's adapted to her maturing voice. I still love her voice and she's therapy to my ears. Her voice never fails to lift my spirits up.

I suddenly found myself searching and watching the original clip of Miss Saigon when they were young. Omg, the chemistry is still there! Nostalgic and the feels! Kilig and brought smile while watching. Miss Saigon is my first full length theater show I've watched and will hold dearly in my heart. I grew up watching and admiring Lea's talent. She is one of a kind! Bravo! 😍🌹

I was lucky enough to have seen them and the rest of the original cast ( including The High Sparrow from Game of Thrones Jonathan Pryce as The Engineer) five weeks after the show opened in London. So this brings back good memories and when I saw the 25th anniversary concert the three of them still have what it takes. FABULOUS
