A far cry from the 28 dollar beach condo you started out with. That video inspired me to come out here when you put that video out, brother Marco. I still watch that one. But it has definitely gone up since I came out here 5 years ago.
Mine for 3 people in Lipa City are 12,500 rent for 2 bdrm 2 bath apartment, 500 HOA a month which includes security and garbage, 6500 for electric, 1250 internet, 750 water, tank of gas is 850, 25,000 for groceries, eating out 2000, animal food for 1 dog, 3 cats 3000 and taxi and bus service is 2000 drinking water is 30 pesos for 5 gallons so 25 gallons a month. All in pesos which comes out to around 51,500 or around 950 dollars a month. So it is still cheap to live out here.
You see, less than $1000 a month, and you are not suffering,as others vloggers want you to believe,if it's not $1,500 a month, you going to live a doomed life in that island!!
of course man,for 3 person, it's not even $1K .... in the u.s,u.k,aussie or e.u,what's $1K ??? nothing these days,unfortunately ....
@@EvralTatum-Mcfield-ov2mi Yes he is under $1,000 - but look at his rent 12,500 + HOA 500 = 13,000 or US$222. The guy in the video sets out in his description Rent 9,000 ($160.99 USD) in small province town - both of these guys pay very cheap rent in the Province.
So of course you can live under $1,000 BUT just with different rent depending where you live in the Philippines your budget will be easily over $1,500. I don't see anyone saying a doomed life on $1,500 - if they do I agree with you that is not right. I see the opposite and it annoys me when people say how great it is and can live or $500 per month - MAYBE they can but why?
I have had many different places in my 8 years here, the lowest $120 or 7,000P for studio and highest US$955 or 56,000P Ufor one bedroom BGC Condo (would have been US$1,280 or 75,000P per month if I didn't sign a one-year lease) and I have stayed in houses in Manila that pay 200,000P per month - VERY EASY to spend more than $1,000 in the Philippines per month.
What do u do about healthcare or emergency? You have money saved for medical emergency or insurance that pay most of the costs? I lived in the PI long time, and visiting 30 years. Many times if u live in low rent area you have to deal with noise at night, karokee,,,roosters,,,people partying,,,,Plus u are living with the locals around you, goodluck to find really good neighbors. There are so many young vloggers here saying how great it is, but most of them disappear or move back to the country after living in the PI for a year or so. fact
If I was a single guy in the Philippines I'd stay in a hotel. Longterm stays are negotiable and finding a nice place for $500/month wouldn't be difficult. No electric bill, no water bill, no internet bill, maid service including clean sheets and towels. I averaged less than $20/day all over the Philippines and didn't stay in fleabag rooms. The beauty of not committing to a leased rental agreement is when you get the itch to go somewhere new there's no hassle. A $35 (or less) plane ticket gets you pretty much anywhere from Davao to Cebu to Manila to Clark. For less than $200 you can bug out to any other country SE Asia.
What hotel is $500/month including electric, water, internet, and maid service? Please list some hotels.
@@jackietreehorn069 Go to the Philippines jackie and explore.
Lol....genius. 😂
@@jackietreehorn069 try searching for AirBnBs, I stayed in one for 2 months and it was 24,000 pesos/month. The only extra was for drinking water, about 125 pesos/month.

Thank you for a no bullshit breakdown. I'm a farm boy since birth and would probably prefer someplace more like where Grandma lives. I would actually prefer a place without electricity. A solar panel and a car battery to run a 12v light or two and be happy. Really got hooked on your style of content. Real life. No green screen. No fake content. No young girls running around 3/4 naked. Thanks.

Great video, marcos...very informative video, you and your family, stay well, my friend ...enjoy your life their
No worries with the audio on this vlog Mark, your adjustments worked well, plus lots of good info for those wanting to make the move to the Phillipines and how much they should budget for 👍
Hey Mark! Much respect to you my friend. All these utubers commenting on all the money you’ll need to live in the Philippines or you will be in dire straits and you set everyone straight that you can make it on just 500 minus the food of course but you are the expert on living in the Philippines in my opinion.👍🇺🇸
You get something very similar in Thailand - people who have to be taxied everywhere and wine and dine in the finest restaurants, and project their lifestyles as the bare minimum for existence onto everyone else. They basically want SE Asia to be the preserve of the wealthy, and hate the cheap Charlies that can get by comfortably on less than half the amount they squander
Great videos as always "my friend"! (quote from your videos) Wow absolutely incredible video quality...just wow, it's like you are right in my living room...What kind of camera setup you got going now, I know you had a Sony for awhile as your goto in case all others fail and then you were experimenting with gpros which kept overheating and then I think another DSLR but I would love to know what you shot this video with, its got that depth of field effect and lossless 4k look and feel? Anyways Congrats on surpassing 50K subs!!!! I really though you would have got that 50k over the Holidays but it seemed like it was stuck at 47k anyways next stop 500K!!! Been watching you from the beginning, got my whole family hooked on your john wayne (who wasn't just an on screen cowboy he was an avid surfer) meets Billy Bob Thornton style...Keep up the excellent videos and just remember even if a Rabbit can with the race its Turtles that live to 150+ years! Look forward to your videos thanks for sharing your insight.

Hi Marcos. Make a video of installing an auto closing spring on one of the doors. Teach Fatima how to drive the screws in. Great videos. Great job Fatima. The kids will have fun with the door auto closing.
Thank you
I see so many budget videos, and many folks don't realize that you need at least 3 to 5 k to get settled in. The initial cost is all inclusive because if you move into a place, you will need a first last and a deposit. Then is furniture and appliances and all the little crap that goes along with that. Then you need food and sundries, and the list goes on . Depending on the visa you get will depend on how much you will pay. An srrv classic with pension is around 13,000 with the 10k deposit and all the fees thru a PRA approved agent. So yes, it can get pricey just to get your foot in the door . After that, 1500 a month should be able to keep you going unless you have a girlfriend, and then you can add another 500 a month to that.
It makes complete sense to get a solar generator with a couple of panels. With how much electricity costs there you would pay for the small solar system within a year. Plus it gives you content. Check out the ecoflow delta models. It's plug and play. It's mobile. The price point is doable. Maybe check out the cheap Chinese solar. Paying that much for electricity is crazy. Your paying a Filipino house payment just to run the a/c
@@4kasiavlogs now swallow

If you are not coming to the Philippines to just party party party then, living here in the Philippines can be very inexpensive. If your retirement in USA $1500 US a month that's enough to live here in the Philippines. There is no where in the USA that you could pay rent and bills for $1500 a month. You would be homeless but not here.... great video.
Hey that much is pretty good ! I can totally survive on that !
Oh and I will also use the gas, I already use propane here when not using mesquite.
Great idea, beach day
Everytime i watch you, you remind me of the "younger" Chevy Chase. Keep it coming!!
Your family is wonderful
Spot on mark. My power bill was 3k peso more then my rent also. 😅
Good overview - I laughed when you mentioned you don't use the regular guy because of issues of separating - it is the same here in Sibulan (next to Dumaguete) - in our subdivison we pay 60P (US$1.02) per month for 6 days per week pick-up, Mon-Wed-Fri wet foods and garden waste, Tue-Thur-Sat garbabe and recycling but as you said it must be separated or they will not take it. I pay the 60P per month and haven't had problems but an American buddy 2 blocks over is the same as you and pays for private pickup every few days.
I chose the what I want type style over what I need. My living expenses per month now in metro Manila is $1,600 US per month as a single expat, including a 157sq meter Penthouse loft . In the past I lived nicely but tightly on a budget of $875 per month all in (including food).
Mark, i just started back watching after a couple months of helping filipina teachers. When did you move to North Cebu? we have a filipino male teacher from Oslob , Cebu teaching at the high school i attended.
Hello Marcos and Fam. I'm going the fan way and not aircon if renting a small house. I will buy me about 600 - 1000 watts worth of solar. About a 3000 watt inverter and about , 2 - 12 volt "200 amp hr batteries just for starters and add screens to the windows.😅😊
also need to talk about transportation cost such as taxi or trike
Im in Washington state. Just paid my power bill and it was 150 dollars. That is middle of winter, so probably the most expensive month of the year.
Electric is high and is guess it could be augmented by electric generation of some sort.
Internet has improved there To modernize standards.
Great breakdown.
Enjoy your retirement and less stress of Philippines life.
Honest information without the bullshit.
Wow electric is high there I live in lipa city and even with a/c on every night it's only 1700 peso..
Our converge bill is 1500 peso and water 300 peso our biggest bill is car 22k and rent for house 14k
I drink about two cases of beer a week and go out every weekends. What’s the high end average I will spend monthly alone for that?
I live in central Luzon in a 68 sq/m house with a yard. My total living expenses are 80,000 pesos per month for two people. I run my air cons, 24/7, high speed internet, tvs, all the kitchen appliances and a car. The car is paid for. My total investment before moving in was 850,000 pesos, this includes the car. Hope this helps those who are wondering.
I say those that lived on $1000 and less are having to have the lifestyle as regular Filipinos. I personally cannot do that.
How much of that 80k php is for rent?
Can you break down what the 850k php went for in your start up?
@@nathanielbarry I spend 20k for rent, up to 20k for utilities (elec, h2o, internet & cell phone data). I spend 40k, on average for food, gas, eating out and miscellaneous. My start up costs included 2 air cons (splits), fridge, stove, kitchen appliances, washer, tv and some furniture. My car was 500k. These of course will very, depending on your situation. I did buy the better appliances and air cons. My car is a Honda. Hope this helps.
@rickbeesme
Thanks man.
It helps a lot.
26 months to go, so trying to be as prepared as possible.
@@nathanielbarry One thing to note, I live in a guarded gated community, my house is a standalone with a small yard and carport. They’re other housing here to rent, you can get cheaper, depending on your preference. I’d also suggest, wait on buying your transportation, whether a car or scooter. You can use a tricycle, jeepney and the Point to Point buses at first, that’ll cost you at the most 5k per month.

Good info. Maybe one day I'll make my break and bee line it back to the PI. In the mean time, I'll watch Overstay Road and gang.
Great video but what about solar power do you have that out there
Plus the people in phillipines are so much nicier. Not calling cops for every little thing. ( noise complaints) crime is not near as bad compared to the U.S. Cant put a price on crime rates, kindness, etc. Thanks for video King.
When that videoke runs all night long into the next day you’ll miss the ability to make a noise complaint
You reminded me ,during my first few days in OK ,my neighbor knocked at my door asking me to turn off my radio ,as she was sensitive to music sound. I mean ,I could barely hear my radio . Another one told me in another State that she may experience Cardiac arrest ,if she keeps hearing my radio . I always listen to mellow music .It was difficult and scary for me to adjust to this lifestyle being a new Filipino immigrant then. BTW, I just returned from Dubai UAE. I learned that a British man in his 70s is facing yrs of jail time ,after he complained to his neighbor about loud music on NYs eve. He trespassed ,as knocks on the door were not responded ,so he went to his neighbor's backdoor . The latter called the police and British guy was found guilty .

very hard to quantify living expenses as everyone is different, in the PI it is all predicated on how much you chase the girls if your single, that can be a serious line item on the budget.
Hello Marcos
Does your magic check work if you're calling banks to verify your identity and make changes to your bank in account.
Garbage once per week not sufficient ? It is once every 2 weeks in Ireland. Every week they take either the recycling or the waste/other rubbish so you wait 2 weeks to take one of those.
Holy smokes guy! Your internet is WAY to expensive! I have Starlink way out in the jungle and it’s only 2700 per month! It’s super fast broadband satellite service!
8:01 less than 200 for rent, I’m not American but when I was in the US I was paying 1200, yes it’s nice 2br, carpeted and all.. but, not 6x. Iced you know.
Just adjust your expectations, it’s not that bad.
Can’t wait to visit the Philippines! Find me a wife #2
Just come here and take your time and you will find one
I just gave retirement a test for a month in Cavite, just outside of Manila. (specifically General Treis) I will caution others that if you go deeper into the local areas, there is a cost. I found myself in a decent neighborhood of townhouses where no chickens were allowed and no loud tricycles either, but everyone had dogs. Some had dogs in cages outside of their homes even. These dogs were bored and allowed to bark at all hours without any type of control. It was maddening. Other things I found was the traffic was heavy, filled with chaos and that I do not fit well into a Jeepney. There were no restaurants conveniently around, no bars, and no supermarkets. The local street market was handy and within walking distance, but a bit rough with pig quartering going on out in the open. High speed internet was good. I found that I could not handle living that much like a local. Cavite is a good place to go if you want to stare at the wall or sit in loud traffic for hours to get anywhere fun. Just food for thought for those that think they want to get away and live like a local. Be careful what you wish for and try it out for a short time first.
Is there hot water? Do you have an electric heater for water
OMG i could live like a KING just on my pension
I live in Calamba, I paid off my wife's house. My wife owes 53.00 USD for AC per month. My food is from SM and cost

Many foreigners living in the Philippines are using a tourist visa, getting an ACR card. If your not living with a Filipina you yourself can't sign up for internet because they wont recognize your ACR card or foreign passport. At least the places I've contacted....ohhh they'll say 'do you have a Filipina living with you?'....they want the commission so will try to get a Filipinas name on the contract.
Most places for rent here have internet 🛜 and cable service and you pay for it at the end of month just like rent

Why did you decide to move to the Philippines?
Nogmaals niks ten nadeel van the philippines. Het is en blijft een prachtige land.
I was guessing everything under eight hundred a month.
Well, it still not bad, for a single, non vice person to live on $1000 a month, even though you did not factor, food, medical insurance and visa fees, and you said that your household are 4, soo, i single person can live live there,as long as he don't have any vices to mantain in a weekly basis,he will be good to go
My electricity and internet is cheaper than yours. But my last water bill is your electric bill.

Rent is so cheap it doesnt make alot of financial sense to build in the Philippines unless spouse has some land from family you can build on that is decent or plan to live there 15+ years.
Actually, it's probably not really much cheaper than living in Spain, Portugal or Greece.
