Lol mine came with it unlocked and it went backwards and today before this video I only found out it locked so it didn't go backwards lol so now I'm watching videos to see if I missed other features
Great review, mate! Got this Flintan some months ago (even if this vid has 4 years already) with its arms for editing or gaming. Definitely better than the overrated and uncomfortable gaming chairs.
@@3freezeen It's a safe choice and it's widely available. It's comfy enough, it can adjust your back posture to a better one (locking the chair) and you can also lie down your back if you wanna game with a controller. Bonus thing is that I bought the arm wrestlers too, it's a great add. Finally, your back doesn't get soaked during summer as it's a net.
@@LordTenebrum Do you still have the chair today? Does it still hold up? I want to buy ikea chair to change my gaming chair to low profile one for working, and I have to choose between flintan and smörkull, which is a lil bit more expensive. Thank you
@@henokhsatrio8804 Still holding up very well. I use it everyday and it's good for its value. Nothing fancy, not super comfy but not uncomfortable. It checks all your basic needs. Don't expect something fancy HAHA.
These are on sale in my local IKEA for around $50. Replacing my more expensive (but very worn out) Markus with this, as the lombar support is ace (it's exactly what I've been missing and why my back starts to hurt after gaming for a while). A great chair for a great price, even if it's not on sale!
I know this video is like, 6 years old now, but thank you so much! I could not figure out why my chair wasn't leaning and your video is the first I've seen that mentioned the locking mechanism (still is mentioned on IKEA's own website)
thanks so much for the video, I didn't know the chair could recline until a month ago and I loved it! then all of a sudden it stops reclining and I'm sat here thinking what happened, how do I recline again!? this video helped me figure it out
I've had this chair 3 years its still in good condition. I've only just worked out how to do the back rest recline thingy via this video so thanks. Before I was doing it but I didn't know how it was by accident everything. The instruction manual doesn't mention it.
Good review, but in the video you mentioned '' at my height and weight '', sorry if I'm wrong but I don't recall you mentioning them. So, if you don't mind, could you mention what your height ( and weight ) is? Thanks in advance.
As a owner of Flintan for more than a year, I wouldn't recommend this chair if you looking to to use it for long hour. My experience has been so uncomfortable and painful. I always wished I had looked for a better chair sooner. Now I have saved up and aim for the top of the line. Tips for people who need a good chair for prolonged usage: dont cheap out, take time to read up about chairs, it affects your health, focus and productivity find the one with more adjustments at your budget level and fit your body type, try it in person if you can but a couple of minutes wouldn't reflect real daily usage anyway.
I bought one of these because it was deeply discounted and they were out of the chair I actually wanted. The position it locks into is an incredibly uncomfortable hunched crouch that's absolutely murder on my back, and the reclined position is working far too hard to push you out of it and back into the uncomfortable position, where it then often locks even when you don't want it to. I'm going to see if there's some way to hack it to lock into a more reclined posture, but as it is this chair gets an F for failure.
+AllThingsTech Thank you! Fair enough, in the end it does come down to personal preference. While the Markus wasn't for me I know lots of people that have been happy with it, so in the end it is best to go and try them out I guess!
+Necati Özsırkıntı Thank you! I'm about 1.8m, but I think that this chair would be fine at your height, since when I use it I am close to the top of the height adjustment. Hope this helped!
I have the gray one, but I have a problem. The wheels keep to pop off. It was a little dirty so I had cleaned what was wrapped around between the bar of the two wheels. But now when I sit on it the wheels pop off. I have had this chair maybe for about a year now. Although it may seem cheap to you I don't think it was very cheap and I can't return it so It has to be fixed without spending much money. Please Help? Thank you.
Quick question, how long are these long sessions you speak of? I myself game for 6+ hours and are wondering if it can stay comfortable for that amount of time? Thanks
legit was using a wooden dining chair before so this feels pretty good, it was the first thing i tried out at ikea and i couldn't be bothered to try out the rest i was just like eh this is good enough lmao
Nope not possible, the unadjustable lumbar support hurts your back. My butt also often in pain after 4 hours. Very uncomfortable. Try to read up more on chair and save up for a good one.
I never thought about desktop ergonomics, but now, after sitting on that chair for about a year and feeling more uncomfortable since then, I think it is better to replace it by another one. The chair that I had before was also a generic cheap chair, but I had no issues like with this one. I am 1,9m tall and ~70kg, the back of this chair feels like optimized for shorter people while the seat depth seems to be for people >= 1,90m (after watched some videos about chair ergonomics). These are just my experiences, they do not have to apply to everyone with my measures. Maybe I'm wrong and just have a damaged spine... :P
The seat depth is insane with this chair, i dont know what they were thinking. Im short(1,75m) but its not very comfy for me either. Bad back support, cushion could not last more than a year, very poorly designed chair imo.
Seriously, if anyone know how to sit on Ikea Markus comfortably please share the knowledge. The chair is killing my entire back and I can’t afford another chair. Thank you in advance.
+Daniel Platee I can't see any obvious downsides, besides the fact that armrests on any chair can mean that the chair has trouble sliding under a desk, but if that isn't an issue to you then you probably won't have any trouble with them.
written on the ikea website, this chair was designed and tested up to 110kg. So if you weight more than 110 kg, this chair won't work the way it was designed.
Damn, I just almost broke my wrist moments ago. I tried to catch a mosquito on the ceiling. Flitan was the only chair in my room, so I stood on that chair, and when I slapped the mosquito, by that slight reactive force the wheels rolled and the chair slid back and I fall to the floor. While it was my fault that I stood on Flintan, my old chair's wheels would not have rolled by that force. Flitan's wheels are too frictionless when weight is on. So when I am sitting on it and try to lean back, the chair slides back. And when the weight is not on, the wheels do not roll well. That is, when I try to slide it back to sit on it, it is difficult to do so. I really do not understand what logic is behind this... Shouldn't it be the opposite? Rolls well when I try to slide it back to sit on it, and does not roll well when I am sitting on it? Even for safety reasons, the wheels should roll less when someone is sitting on it.
I agree with you, when I originally posted the review I hadn't found that to be an issue, but the more I've used it I have noticed it to be a minor annoyance. For me the main problem is that I can't easily wheel the chair around, which can kind of defeat the purpose of having wheels. Glad you didn't break anything, I've got a fractured foot currently and it sucks!
+Cathal Byrne I can't really answer that, as it's personal preference. If you're someone who uses armrests regularly and enjoys them, it might be worth it for you. Personally, I didn't pick up armrests, and I haven't found myself missing them, but that's just me!
@Koharik Sabbagh Like most chairs with wheels the chair can't 'go to ground' because of the plastic in the wheels. Your body is statically charge - you probably have carpets and/or very dry air and or you've got rubber bottoms on your footwear. You could try working in bare feet or try to use a humidifier or adjust your AC so there's more moisture in the air. Another way is touch any big metal object with a coin or keys [or something metal] before you get up to discharge yourself. You are being charged when you rub against other materials (e.g. your rubber-soled shoes on carpet) - it's called the triboelectric effect.
