We're getting pretty close to a robot that can truly help around the house in a meaningful way. Walker while interesting is still the a fairly early beta version, but the frame work is absolutely fascinating. At the pace we are going it may only be 10 years before something close to a proper robot maid exist. By 20 years it will be near seamless. It will probably be 40 years before it's close to as smooth as a human though.
Still better reaction time than your kid's when they're busy in the middle of an online game! AND NO WHINING. Not sure how well the dog and cat would react and adjust to a house droid though.
We look forward to seeing how the service robot will progress in usefulness. Question: Privacy of the home can deal with sensitive information and or security. What is the #privacy protection guarantee for internal #communication and how are patch updates carried out?
2025 is way too optimistic its 2021 and they havent said a thing yet. This still needs another 10-20 years of heavy r and d spending and time for the ai to catch up.
@@xsuploader mm, not 20, but maybe 10. They just need to link up with Boston Dynamics! Or just wait until Boston dynamics actually sells a humanoid robot.
Can it pick it's self up from the floor, should it fall or be pushed over I wonder? At 170lbs that's not going to be picked up by your grandmother/grandfather, is it?
it is somehow like in senior care homes, but with the roles switched. (just kidding, it's amazing how technology has gone so far, give it a bit more time i m sure we will be all thrilled)
I like the idea and overall presentation. But there are two things I would change. 1 I didn’t appreciate how degrading the presenter was, this would give the idea that every command given is a competition to see who outranks who: roommates, kids, parents, etc in contrast to the robot. that idea could be psychologically damaging. This robot is meant to assist and be a part of the family rather than to compete against. Two the speed at which the tasks are completed. If the robot is designed primarily with elder care in mind, depending on the condition the elder in question could become very impatient with the robot. Having worked as a nursing assistant I can say that routine is key to the day to day care.
This is fantastic, but he is way too slow! It would drive me insane. 😭🤣 you wouldn’t want anything in a hurry. Looking forward to a Ai personal assistant / butler / personal protection. The future is looking good 😁
hack into it, upload custom rom, with witch the Walker will back to kitchen, grab a long knife, and he back to your sleeping room... dude, thats scarry, its not a smartphone :P
I think this robot is great but I think that usually the prices ar too high for normal people, for example I think that although Nao is an amazing funny robot I wouldn't pay 6000 or 8000 euros for it... if you want we can pay prices around 2500 - 6.000 euros, in a short future a robot should can help us with the dishwasher, washing machine, making the bed, etc... And I think this robot has the perfect way for that evolution (But in that price please, no more expensive). Regards,
It's incredible actually. Honda Asimo costed millions of dollars. This will cost in the 10s of thousands. In only a decade they brought down the price 100 fold.
@@xsuploader lol ASIMO costed millions of dollars because they started the development more than 20 years ago - technology was much more expensive back then - and they were "the first" at building such an advanced humanoid robot. Plus, ASIMO is much more fast and flexible in movements compared to this.
@@matteventu So what? My point still stands. This is almost as functional as asimo for one hundredth the price. Also Asimo had many models and i was comparing it to ASIMO from the late 2000s NOT the original model.
I'm tired of seing humanoid robot potential get use to make them simple coffee maker they need to send humanoid to space ( mars or the moon) people can make coffee themself! What a waist of potential ,
Like wheels or sphere type wheels on the bottom of his feet... keeping his ability to kick and so on yet making him much faster in not needing to move his legs.. seems it would also expand his battery life...
Unfortunately, as with virtually all other truly intelligent robots, it's too slow at performing basic actions. The time it took for the robot to walk over to the door, open it and get out of the way was far too long. Plus the time it took for it to get 1 can of coke and a pringles can and deliver it less than 10 feet away was also far too long, most people's kitchens aren't in thier living rooms... Imagine how long it would take in your own house. They mention it could be used for the elderly/disabled, imagine a situation where the robot is asked to bring medication in an emergency... the person would be dead before the robot had even found them. Great ideas and concepts that are proven to work BUT still lack usefulness in the real world.
Can Asimo do these things too? I do think ASIMO is much more flexible and sleeker. Plus, it's faster. I do like the program with this one. Can Asimo do everything this one can do?
God this is tragic. So far from usable! I don't understand why everyone insists on making them look like a human (walking, opening a doors, winking, dancing). I feel like you are building it to be a gimmick from day 1. The market is wide open for a useful home robot. One that vacuums, a mobile google home, carries useful things (tissues, sanitiser, cleaning products, plates of food, drinks etc), brings you a coffee at 7am, plays music, has a mounted tablet so you can watch netflix from any room. None of these require legs to work. This thing is useless.
its better to hired a Maid that can do anything rather than buying that stupid lazy Robot , I save money, time, and my maid feed his family by her salary
Movements are definitely not smooth yet but it's a great improvement from what we usually have
