Thank you Mike. Thanks to all the Vets organisations: PVO, 32 Bn Vets, 61 Mech Vets, MOTH, SA Legion, SADF Assn and all the we, our children and our children's children must remember. No one hates war more than the soldier does. We will remember.
What a beautifully told story. Decades later - a MIA - soldier is traced. Every soldier who served will be touched. Lost soldiers will for ever continue to weigh heavily on the conscious of all nations even long after armistice and peace. Thank you. Great to learn of the PVO. Very interesting video.
War is Hell. Thank you to all the boys and girls who fought because they where told to or even felt that they need to do it because they believe in the cause. I hope that you can bring them all back.
Gratitude Mike for what you are doing and have achieved to get this far for your fallen soldiers . Us. Rhodesians have the same situation with our fallen soldier brothers lost in battle in Mozambique and Zambia . It’s important for peace within the hearts of their families and fellow army brothers ! You have done Skillie honour and respect! Salute !
Lest we forget, I lost a school buddy that lived in the same suburb as me at Casinga Martin Kaplan, news then it was a border kill and only found out years later where and how. It was quit a shock to hear the narrator to hear Toffie "Risk" Grove (Toffie passed away last year 2022) mentioned, I met Toffie through one of 102 BN vets, my border unit that was also a Casinga combatant.
Wow, describing that Angolian tank sent shivers through me. I have been in that tank, I saw where the round came through the left side of the turret. I sat in the commanders seat think this guy never stood a chance, the insides of the turret still had human remains around the insides of the turret.
Amazingly every month unknown soldiers ( and now with DNA analysis they can identify some) MIA are being recovered in France and Belgium battlefields and reburied with full military honours FROM 1914 - 18. There are dedicated teams working the battlefields of that war. Last month they had a military funeral of a young soldier surrounded by his great great nephews and nieces in France. A very moving event.
@@sarki1723 Stuck in Dunedin? Look on the bright side, you could be stuck in Aus. 🤣 Although I did my time in '92 -'93, I'm quite interested I these Bush war stories. My brother was a tracker in '86.
Hello, the task has not yet been completed. The Angolan government requested endorsement fro the South African Minister of Foreign Affairs and we got a good and positive letter from Naledi Pandor recently to satisfy the Angolans.Having satisfied all the Angolan needs, we now await a date for our party to make the journey to complete the mission. The Angolans must now give us a budget and a date.
Please can you let me know how this is going? I hope that both missing soldiers can be recognised through a home coming or an honourable burial on the battlefield. Honourable young men who died, before their time, for causes they believed in.
Unfortunately Bas passed away and they needed to get new permissions. The trip is now planned for end June. We hope to do a follow up interview with Mike after the trip.
I still wonder when the three SADF,former Rhodesian Army guys will be returned to their respective families after their external op went wrong.Rip never forgotten.
The sad story of a paratrooper missing in action.

Thanks Stephen for the comment. I think that story also needs to be told.
Steven, I am onto it. Want to complete the Skillie Project first.
Hi Stephen. Are you referring to those soldiers killed in the raid into Maputo under Operation "Bootlace" I think it was called.
Sounds like a movie to me
Thank you for watching
So Mike.... Two years later......??? 🤔🤔🤔
The trip is planned end June. Unfortunately Bas suddenly passed away and they had to go back and get certain permissions.
