now look thats the best riq sound thanks to kevork and his magic hands i have a riq and a derbaki and katem from kevork all of them by the way im a musician
@Xolin11 I don't know what a "conga skin" is. I don't play conga. This is a Riq, a unique type of tambourine, played in many countries doing arabic-style music. Small diameter, with heavy brass jingles. Traditionally covered with fish or goat skin. Modern instruments often have synthetic heads like this to maintain nice tight tone. Natural skins sound good, but soften in humidity. This seems like a very high quality instrument. If you buy a riq beware. Many others are junk.
Are there any riqs that are almost as good as the Kevork (great popping sound and not super heavy) and not quite as an expensive that you can recommend? Thanks!
Saw him play a riq solo at a Dead Can Dance concert in Montreal a few years back. Never got totally over it.
great playing...
Thank you so much, his instruments are real masterworks! Best, Cristiano
An exemplary display of sheer badassery. His riq playing skillz are absolutely superlative.
