Souhail Kaspar doumbek solo
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лис 2006
- This is a performance by Souhail Kaspar, recorded in (I believe) May 2005, in Los Angeles. This is found on his "Foundations of Arabic Rhythm" DVD. Souhail asked if this could be uploaded - here it is.
For more information on Souhail, check www.neareastmusic.com - he's an amazing performer, and an absolutely wonderful instructor.
We just finished a workshop with Souhail and also bought his DVD that this solo is taken from. I would recommend both the DVD and his workshops highly - he is a master musician and teacher.
I can never watch this video enough. How awesome it would be to have this person as a teacher. Truly amazing. My fingers hurt just watching him!
Very inspiring...Souhail is definitely one of the greatest doumbek players on the planet today. Thanks for posting.
It's such a joyful pleasure to see this master at work.
I love this. I have long enjoyed and followed this artist's career. He continues to be such a positive influence in the music world and brings playfulness and joy to each and every performance.
he is my teacher and i am blessed to know him so well
Usted, it is a pleasure to see and hear you play, and to see you smile.
great performence , amazing,thank you.
I would like to thanks everyone who watch my
video and I appreciate every comment! Please stay healthy and be safe love to you all!
I've watched a ton of tabla/dumbek solos on UA-cam, and out of all of them I think this is one of the most musical and enjoyable. Lots of others are very fast but have no pulse or dynamics. Split hand and all that stuff is neat but everyone seems to be overdoing it right now. Also I think as players we need to remember that if the only people we entertain are other drummers, that's a very insular type of success. Thank you for your dedication Souhail!
Souhail, you are an amazing doumbek player! I love the way you smile and show your enjoyment when playing the drum. You bring that warmth and enjoyment to the audiences. Well done!
lovely tonal quality and gud composition...
absolutely awesome
He is amazing - I took a workshop with him about 5 months ago, with 12 other drummers. He's a hard instructor, and demands perfection. Get his instructional DVD, it'll show you the perfect technique (at least his, anyway).
what a talent! great musician !
This musician is a master! Great stuff!!!
This was recorded in UCLA's Middle Eastern Music Ethonomusicology class in 2001 or 2002. I happened to be there and the guy kicked some serious ass.
I LOVE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE THIS!!! I imagine that I am dancing!
just amazing
WOA, mind blowing skills.
amazing, such incredible precision, makes the beats flow effortlessly... tried to be like this guy with this Doumbek Master app I downloaded for my iPhone. If I could have even 1% of this guy's talent I would be happy :)
I just met Souhail Kasper today for part one of a two day Tablah workshop. His extreme musicianship is equally matched with his warm personality, humor, and attention to detail in teaching the classical techniques to playing the Tablah correctly. He has a great instructional DVD (which I am taking a break from watching to post this) which shows everything it takes to get that good, provided of course you practice all the time! His web site is neareastmusic.
Come on guys he is just amazing!!..out of this world...
What feeling!!! I love your tabla playing!!
Souhail, I am practicing the Riqq every day and am very much looking forward to your next lessons when you make it back to Winston-Salem. I am sorry there are people who seem to need to criticize you, obviously they are people who have never met you and don't have any idea of what level of Master you really are. You teach in a way that does not "show off" your skills and I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to learn from you!
Safe Travels,
Dave
thank you very much.
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!
I love the sound of his drum
This is incredible...
He is awesome! Amazing!
Thank you
Yes, Faisal is a great player...very humble and a great guy too.
Thank you very much for understanding the different between classical & Street drummers.I prescient your comment.
Allways ammmmmaizing SOU SOU
I'm totally impressed with your skills!
he is awarsome so amizing. Bravoooooo mashalah
I totally agree with what you say about every hippy playing the same way. Khalilullah, I understand what you are saying, and I have seen many the "hippy" way of playing which (in my experience) 90% of the time falls quite short of the "Classical" fingering. From what I have seen of your playing you hold dear the Classical ways and I respect that! The key is to take the old ways and improvise them into what works well for you, which in my opinion you do! Bravo!
You play it like tell a sweet love story , I love it!! ;D
EXTRAORDINARY..........!!
hermoso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wooaoo.. is great master drummer....!!! i will like how my teacher..!
magnifico
You are correct, Souhail. There is no substitute for correct technique and "perfect" practice! I am getting together with Omid tomorrow to work with live Riqq practice. Thank you for the inspiration that you have given me!
Namaste,
Dave
The legend.

Hi Dave, thank you very much for your kind compliment.when someone try criticism me,I call it a jealousy. Because they cannot do anything except criticism people. Don't worry about that. I know myself.

Was your comment pointing to me?
epic
Thanks, post a video im sure you will do pretty good to. :)
@crudnup - OK, I don't actually read the responses very often. But I'm lmao over your post!
My guess is that he wasn't applauding himself, he was telling the audience to clap in time so that he could solo over them
You really think Amir is that bad? I like his musical sense. Who do you like?
dude write this misirli ahmet and listen this guy he is from turkey he is our best drammer lol...
ملاعبي خطير
He should listen to Amir. That guy is GOOD.
you should have lısten onur!
he is a great master l had never saw someone play dabruka as hım
yeah where do i get a drum :P
Why he jokingly asks the audience at :34 to respond to his solo that is rather simplistic, is beyond me.He does have excellent time, though.
5:07 hahahaa :D :)))))))
I would love to go to Spain, I am looking for sponsor.
thank you.
sen ne anlarsin, adam master, anlamini biliyorsan...
A symphony still plays Beethoven in the way he wrote his music in the late 1700s. Does that make it "stereotypical"? "Classical" simply means the old way of playing music in a way that has stood the test of time.
Khalilullah, I looked at your page and heard the "Kongfoofingers". If that is you playing then I must say you have some amazing chops. I just do not agree with you trashing someone who is obviously a great player. Show some respect for the time and effort it took to get there. And then take the "classic" ways and build upon them to allow music to evolve, which you obviously do.
Respect,
Dave
Какой весёлый музыкант!
where do you get a drum like that
What's the low end instrument the other guy is playing?
Daff, or Bendhir or Tar or Framedrum or Ketim depending who you ask.
The only way you get good at anything is practice and proper instruction. Actually, what he's doing in this video is not that difficult. He's a great doumbek player, but there are many out there.
si très chiqe mestre souhil
close one eye, cover the drum up with your finger, have fun
Khalilullah, perheps Souhail just plays in his classical way. To you it is boring but let other people learn the clasical ways, it has taught me much.
It's beter to get good technique first and then worry about speed later. Having a top-notch drum helps too...
Souhail isn't doing stuff that's all that tough to do, he just is doing it perfectly (technique, remember?) :)
Practice practice practice
Aslanim kardes, I am not saying i play better then him and i never sad he cant play darbuka. I gived my opinion about this vid. I just tought it was regular performance. And i do have my own videos, check my channel.
