    This year my buddy bought a Ravin R10 crossbow and I had the pleasure of really checking it out while we were on a hunting trip together. We put it through the paces and we cover all the details of what I like and don't like about the Ravin R10. The Ravin R10 is at a much higher price point than the Wicked Ridge M-370 so I go over what additional features you get if you choose to spend the extra money on a Ravin R10.

    Wicked Ridge is a great bow. That being said, it is more in the class of high end budget crossbows. It will kill deer all day long. Nonetheless, the Ravin is not a budget bow by any means. This is not to put down the Wicked Ridge in any way. Just different class.

      Douglas you are absolutely correct and one of the points of this video was to point out the differences that you find between these crossbows so you can determine if the extra features you get on the Ravin are worth the extra money to jump to that next level.

    the fact the m370 is so light is a feature too often overlooked.

      Yep its a big deal for me. That was one of the main reasons I bought it.

    Very nice and honest review for sure! But as much as I admire the "Helo Coil" technology that RAVIN has invented and patented (It's available on the Center Point CP 400 which Raven also owns), but I can't justify paying nearly twice as much as the Wicked Ridge M-370 for an entry-level bow! I also find the extremely cantilevered scope mount to be a potential problem! When you upgrade to the R 26, assuming you're willing to pay way more money, at least the scope mount is secured on both the front and the back! So, RAVIN is great and worth the money if you can afford it but I can't wait to get my M-370 delivered! Great video!

      I agree. The Ravin R10 has some nice features but to me they are not worth the price difference between the M-370. My M-370 has not failed me yet!

    I have a Rampage 360. This year my limbs started to splinter wickedridge covered under warranty but it was just at the peak of the rut I was out my crossbow. So I ended up ordering a raven R10 on a black Friday deal. Still waiting to get it. I’m pretty excited to be able to Decock my crossbow.

      Oh man that really stinks man! I am sorry to hear that. At least they replaced it under warranty for you but yea being without it during rut is not cool. Good luck with your new one when you get it!

    You know I've got that Ravin r10 crossbow myself and it is a little bit tough to get the quiver in the cocking handle off of the crossbow but I think the reason why they have it so tough is because that cocking handle is like $80 if you lose it and they don't want you losing it in the woods but I also take the quiver off once I get into the tree and I always just keep the cocking handle in my pocket so I don't have to remove that out while I'm in the woods

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  2 роки тому

      Yea the bonus is that cocking handle and quiver is not gonna get "bumped" off cause it is solid, but when I tested it out the quiver seemed tough to get off. That is a good idea just keeping that cocking handle off though. Every crossbow has it pluses and minuses though. It is a nice shooting crossbow though and such a great tight form factor.

    Hey Boone, just found your channel!
    How is the Wicked Ridge holding up? I'm doing some market research and I'm considering getting one for the 2023 season.
    I wanted to be aware of any problems now that you've had yours for 2-3 years. Any complaints so far?

      So I am going in to year 4 with my Wicked Ridge M-370. It shoots great, it's lightweight and I am still happy with it. I have taken 8 deer with it so far and all were quick clean kills with the deer not going more than maybe 50 yards from where it was shot.

    Witch crossbow would you feel better letting a 14 year old use in your opinion?

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  2 роки тому +1

      Well these are two different price points bows with the Ravin costing much more than the Wicked Ridge. From a safety perspective, the Ravin has the edge, because of the built in dec-cocker. The Wicked Ridge M-370 you shoot to unload. You know if you are hunting with your 14 year old probably doesn't make much difference but if they were hunting from a treestand or something like that, then if they de-cocked before they came down that is obviously safer. So I let my kids use my M-370 , but my youngest was like 15 at when she first used it but she is small framed and I was always sitting next to them. If they were hunting alone and in a treestand I would feel much better about them de-cocking a crossbow before they climbed down and walked all over the woods. Of course 5 years ago almost none of the crossbows had de-cockers on them.

      how can I turn the clicker of the ravin r10 to enable silent cocking?

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  11 місяців тому +1

      @@david.1533 You just keep applying pressure to the thumb button on the handle and when you do that the clicker is not engaged. However, you are turning off the safety feature so you have to hold on to it so it doesn't freewheel back at you.

    Thanks, good review. I leave my safety off while hunt. I’m on private property so it’s just me and no one else to worry about. Have done the same foe gun deer and predator hunting. Spooked to many animals over the years flipping it off. Scared a red fox I called in the other day because I forgot to take it off before starting my call sequence.

    I’m in va and I shoot a ten point stealth x-s. It’s been great and really accurate but it older so it is wide and heavy. It needs a new string so I’m debating just upgrading bows and have been looking at this and wicked ridge. This ravin seems like you get the most increase in features for the money. The 800-900 bows are a little faster then mine (323) and a little smaller but other then that they don’t offer much more then my current bow. For 1300 the ravin is a little faster and much more compact then the competition with a better cocking system. It for 1300 my bow shoots pretty damn good and has never missed a deer this far so i don’t know haha thanks for the info comparing the 2. You made good practice points.

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  Рік тому

      Yea it's a tough call right. It really comes down to are the extra features in the Ravin worth the extra $400 and sometimes that can be a touch call. Wish you the best of luck.
